Guidelines for living. September 1st, 2026 Does My Life Have Any Purpose? For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. Acts 13:36 One of the greatest tragedies in life is to get very close to reaching your goal, arriving at your full potential, accomplishing what you set out to do, only to fall short of what you wanted. It's always sad to have to quit a few hundred meters short of the top, or to get so very close to winning, only to have victory snatched from your grasp. Unrealized goals, unfulfilled potential - what a tragedy! With a sigh, we speak of, "The man he might have been," or "the woman she could have become." You tell me what your heart yearns to do, what you think about when you lie awake unable to sleep in the night hours, and I'll tell you what kind of a person you really are. If money consumes your thinking, you're materialistic. If you think only of revenge, you're angry and bitter. If your thoughts are of God and how you can serve Him, you are a person of spiritual sensitivity and dedication. When I interview people, I often ask the interviewee a closing question: "At the end of your life, how would you like to be remembered?" Answers tell me a lot about the person who responds. A thousand years after David, the king of ancient Israel, Luke, one of the writers of the New Testament, included a few thoughts about how David was remembered. He wrote, "For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep ... " (Acts 13:36). Another translation adds a single phrase which injects even more meaning. It reads, "For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation according to the will of God, he fell asleep" (Nestle's Greek text). The overview of history is often so much different than how we appear in the smoke and the dust of the battle. For a few moments, measure your life against the benchmark of what Luke wrote about David. First, he served God's purpose. Now translate this to our generation: to your family, your workplace, your neighborhood. Would you say that you are really accomplishing God's purpose for your life? Or would you have to say, "No, I fall far short of that"? You may be asking, "Well, what is God's purpose for my life?" Good question! There's a whole book that answers that one. It's called the Bible. It explains very clearly what God's purpose is for your life in simple, easy-to-understand language. Now, the second thought is that David was responsible only for his generation. You can't do anything about what took place a hundred years ago, or even a generation ago. That's history. But you can do something about your generation today - the world in which you live. Some think, mistakenly, that the sum total of their influence in life is zero. It's untrue! Every person, no matter how humble or significant, influences someone. You, friend, like David, can serve God's purpose, touching someone's life, making a difference. Now, a final thought. David served God's purpose according to the will of God. That's a powerful thought. So, "does God have a will for my life?" you may be wondering. The Bible contends that He does. The writers of Scripture say that what happens to your life is of great importance to our Heavenly Father. Paul wrote, "Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore," he said, "do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is" (Ephesians 5:15-17). There you have it - a life of purpose touching our generation according to the will of God! Theme: “Watch and Pray: Finishing the Year Strong in Christ” Key Text: 1 Peter 5:8–9 > “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 🔥 THE YEAR IS NOT OVER YET! Beloved, we have entered the final stretch of the year. The ember months—September, October, November and December—are often associated with celebrations, travelling, weddings, parties, business activities, family gatherings and end-of-year excitement. But as Christians, we must understand something: The end of the year is not a time to become spiritually careless. It is a time to become spiritually alert! Many people become relaxed because they think, “The year is almost over.” But the devil does not take a holiday. Your prayer life must not go on holiday. Your Bible study must not go on holiday. Your holiness must not go on holiday. Your spiritual discernment must not go on holiday. The fact that we are approaching the end of the year does not mean we should lower our spiritual guard. This is the season to watch, pray, discern and finish well! 1. 🛡️ BE SOBER AND VIGILANT. 1 Peter 5:8 Peter says: > “Be sober, be vigilant…” To be sober means to remain spiritually clear-minded. To be vigilant means to remain watchful and alert. A Christian can be physically awake but spiritually asleep. You may attend church and still become spiritually careless. You may carry a Bible and still lose spiritual sensitivity. You may pray yesterday and still need to pray today. The ember months can bring many distractions: Excessive celebrations Ungodly relationships Financial pressure Peer pressure Sexual temptation Substance abuse Unnecessary travelling Reckless spending Internet and social-media distractions Pressure to “make it before the year ends” Do not allow the excitement of the season to silence the voice of the Holy Spirit. 2. 🙏 WATCH AND PRAY Matthew 26:41 > “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation…” Notice that Jesus did not say pray without watching. He said: Watch AND pray. Prayer without spiritual alertness can make us careless. Spiritual alertness without prayer can make us powerless. We need both. During these months, increase your prayer life. Pray concerning: Your family Your children Your marriage Your career Your ministry Your finances Your travels Your relationships Your spiritual life The decisions you will make Do not wait until trouble comes before you begin to pray. Prayer is not only a crisis response; prayer is spiritual preparation. 3. 🕯️ DO NOT LET THE SEASON STEAL YOUR SPIRITUAL FIRE Romans 12:11 > “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. One danger of the ember months is spiritual fatigue. People become tired and say: > “I have prayed enough this year.” No! You don't retire from your relationship with God because the calendar is approaching December. Your spiritual fire must continue burning. Leviticus 6:13 > “The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” Your altar must remain alive. Don't let December find you spiritually empty. Keep reading the Word. Keep praying. Keep worshipping. Keep serving. Keep witnessing. Keep forgiving. Keep walking in holiness. 4. ⚠️ BE CAREFUL WITH DECISIONS MADE UNDER PRESSURE. The final months of the year can create tremendous pressure. People begin asking: “What have you achieved this year?” “How much money have you made?” “When are you getting married?” “When will you build your house?” “When will you buy a car?” “What are you doing with your life?” Such questions can create comparison and desperation. And desperation can lead people into wrong decisions. Remember: You do not need to destroy your future because you are trying to impress people before December 31. Psalm 37:7 says: > “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him…” Do not enter a wrong relationship because you are afraid of being single. Do not enter fraudulent business because you want quick money. Do not compromise your faith because you want acceptance. Do not abandon God's principles because you feel behind. God's timing is better than human pressure. 5. 🎯 FINISH THE YEAR STRONG. Philippians 3:13–14 Paul says: > “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before…” There is still time. Perhaps January did not go as planned. Maybe February brought disappointment. Maybe March brought unexpected challenges. Maybe you made mistakes. Maybe opportunities passed. Maybe you experienced losses. But the year is not over yet. Don't spend the remaining months mourning what went wrong. Ask: > “Lord, what can I still do with the time You have given me?” You can still pray. You can still reconcile. You can still start. You can still learn. You can still serve. You can still evangelize. You can still correct your mistakes. You can still become spiritually stronger. There are still chapters of your story that have not been written. 📖 BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: NEHEMIAH. Consider Nehemiah. When Nehemiah and the people were rebuilding Jerusalem's wall, their enemies attempted to distract and intimidate them. Nehemiah 4:9 > “Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night…” Look at the balance: They prayed AND they watched. They did not say: > “We are praying, so we don't need to be careful.” Neither did they say: > “We are watching, so we don't need God.” They did both. Prayer + Watchfulness = Spiritual Alertness This is a powerful principle for the ember months. Pray as though everything depends on God. Work and watch as though God expects you to be responsible. 💡 DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS. 1. Not every opportunity is a God-given opportunity. Some opportunities are simply distractions dressed as blessings. Discern before you accept. 2. Not every relationship deserves access to your destiny. Some relationships strengthen your faith. Others weaken it. Watch your associations. 3. The enemy often uses distraction before destruction. He does not always begin with something obviously evil. Sometimes he begins with: > “Just this once.” Then another time. Then another. Eventually, compromise becomes normal. 4. The final months require spiritual discipline, not spiritual panic. Do not wait until December to start asking God to fix everything. Walk with God daily. 5. Your greatest victory may be finishing faithfully. Not everyone who starts well finishes well. Your goal should not simply be: > “I want to end the year wealthy.” Say: > “I want to end the year closer to God, stronger in faith, cleaner in character and faithful to my assignment.” ✅ PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS FOR THE EMBER MONTHS. 1. Establish a daily prayer time. Even if it is 15–30 minutes, be consistent. 2. Read the Bible daily. Don't allow social media to receive more attention than God's Word. 3. Examine your relationships. Ask who is strengthening your faith and who is weakening it. 4. Avoid unnecessary risks. Be wise with travelling, finances, relationships and celebrations. 5. Control your spending. Don't spend January's resources trying to impress people in December. 6. Stay connected to Christian fellowship. Don't isolate yourself spiritually. 7. Practice gratitude. Count your blessings instead of comparing yourself with others. 8. Set spiritual goals. Before the year ends, decide what you want to accomplish spiritually. 9. Reconcile where necessary. Do not carry unnecessary bitterness into another year. 10. Finish what God has entrusted to you. Don't abandon your assignment because the year has been difficult. 🤔 QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION 1. How spiritually alert am I right now? 2. Has my prayer life become weaker? 3. What distractions are threatening my relationship with God? 4. Are there relationships I need to reconsider? 5. Am I making decisions because of God's leading or because of pressure? 6. What temptation do I need to become more watchful against? 7. What unfinished assignment should I complete before the year ends? 8. If the year ended today, would I be satisfied with my walk with God? 9. What must I stop doing? 10. What must I start doing? 🙏 POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS 1. Prayer for spiritual alertness Father, awaken my spirit and make me sensitive to Your voice. Help me to recognize every distraction and every trap of the enemy. 2. Prayer for protection Lord, preserve me, my family and everyone connected to me throughout these remaining months. Keep us from evil and unnecessary danger. 3. Prayer against temptation Father, strengthen me to say NO to every temptation that can destroy my testimony, destiny and relationship with You. 4. Prayer for divine direction. Lord, guide my decisions. Give me wisdom to know what to accept, what to reject and what to wait for. 5. Prayer against desperation Father, deliver me from the pressure to compete, compare or compromise. Help me to trust Your timing. 6. Prayer for restoration Lord, restore whatever I have lost that is according to Your will, and give me wisdom to recover what can still be recovered. 7. Prayer for finishing well Father, I will not finish this year spiritually empty. Give me grace to finish stronger, wiser, purer and closer to You than I started. 8. Prayer for the family Lord, preserve our families. Let no tragedy, division or destructive influence prevail over our homes. 9. Prayer for purpose Father, help me to complete every assignment You have entrusted to me before the end of this year. 10. Prayer of surrender Lord Jesus, I surrender the remaining months of this year to You. Take control of my life, my plans, my family, my decisions and my future. Let Your will be done in my life. Amen. 🔥 STRONG CLOSING: DON'T SLEEP THROUGH YOUR SEASON! Church, the ember months are here, but God's grace is still available! Don't become careless. Don't become distracted. Don't become desperate. Don't compromise. Don't allow celebrations to replace consecration. Don't allow social pressure to replace God's direction. Don't allow the mistakes of yesterday to destroy the possibilities of tomorrow. WATCH! PRAY! DISCERN! STAND FIRM! FINISH STRONG! The year may be approaching its final months, but your assignment is not finished. Your testimony is not finished. Your purpose is not finished. Your story is not finished. The Story Behind the Hymns. THE STORY BEHIND "MINE EYES HAVE SEEN THE GLORY OF THE COMING OF THE LORD" Some hymns belong to a church while others become part of the history of a people. “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord,” widely known as “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” belongs to the second category. Its story is tied to one of the darkest chapters in American history: the Civil War, a conflict that split the United States and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives. Slavery stood at the centre of the crisis, and the question of whether a nation could call itself free while millions remained enslaved had become impossible to avoid. In 1861, Julia Ward Howe, a writer, poet and abolitionist, was in Washington, D.C., when she encountered Union troops singing “John Brown’s Body,” a marching song already popular among soldiers. The tune stayed with her. Someone suggested that she write new words for it. She did. According to Howe’s own account, the words came to her in the early hours of the morning. She woke with the opening line in her mind and began writing, afraid that the verses would escape her if she waited for daylight. “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord…” What followed was not a conventional hymn of comfort. Howe wrote with the language of the Old Testament prophets — judgment, wrath, righteousness and redemption. The battlefield became the setting for a larger moral argument. “He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.” The line was stark and so was the time in which it was written. The hymn was published in the Atlantic Monthly in February 1862. It quickly found an audience among Union supporters and soldiers, giving words to a cause that many believed demanded more than military victory. The fight, in the hymn’s telling, was bound to a moral reckoning. Then came the line that would outlive the war: “His truth is marching on.” Those five words helped turn a Civil War song into an enduring hymn. For soldiers heading into battle, the words could sound like a declaration of faith. For abolitionists, they carried the promise that slavery would not have the final word. For families waiting at home, the hymn gave voice to the uncertainty, grief and conviction that defined the period. Its reach did not end when the guns fell silent. “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” went on to become one of the most recognisable songs in American religious and public life. It has been heard in churches, at memorials, political gatherings, military ceremonies and historic moments across generations. Its power however, lies in more than its stirring melody. It was born at a time when America was asking whether freedom could survive its own contradictions. Julia Ward Howe answered with a poem that placed justice at the centre of the national struggle. More than a century and a half later, the words remain remarkably direct. They remind us that history is not always changed in grand halls or on battlefields. Sometimes it begins in the early hours of the morning, with a writer reaching for a pen before the words disappear. Julia Ward Howe picked up that pen and what she wrote became a song that generations would sing long after the war that inspired it had passed into history. “His truth is marching on.” That is the line that remains. ARISE—THE FAILURE WAS NOT THE END! God Still Has Victory Ahead of You! “And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed... arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai...” -Joshua 8:1 (KJV) Thought Of The Day... There are moments in life when God will send you back to a place where you previously experienced disappointment—not to embarrass you, but to show you that your last experience does not have to become your final outcome. Joshua 8 begins after one of Israel’s most painful setbacks. Israel had experienced an incredible victory at Jericho. The walls had fallen. God had demonstrated His power. Israel appeared unstoppable. Then came Ai. Ai was much smaller than Jericho, and Israel expected an easy victory. Instead, Israel was defeated. Men lost their lives, the people became discouraged, and Joshua fell before the Lord. But there was sin in the camp. Achan had taken what God had forbidden from Jericho, and Israel suffered the consequences. After the sin was confronted and dealt with, God spoke to Joshua again. And notice what God did not say. God did not say: “Joshua, you failed, so I’m finished with you.” God did not say: “You lost at Ai, so you can never go back there.” God did not say: “Your mistake has canceled your future.” Instead, God said: “FEAR NOT, NEITHER BE THOU DISMAYED... ARISE, GO UP TO AI.” In other words: Joshua, get back up! There is still an assignment on your life. There is still territory to possess. There is still purpose ahead of you. And the place where you experienced defeat is about to become the place where you experience victory! 1. YOUR SETBACK DOES NOT HAVE TO BECOME YOUR IDENTITY Joshua could have allowed the first battle at Ai to define him. He could have said, “Maybe I’m not the leader I thought I was.” He could have lived in regret. He could have become afraid to fight another battle. But God would not allow Joshua to build his identity around one defeat. Someone needs to hear this: You are not your worst moment. You are not the mistake you made. You are not the door that closed. You are not the relationship that failed. You are not the opportunity you missed. You are not the battle you lost. You may have fallen, but God is still able to tell you: “ARISE!” Proverbs 24:16 declares: “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again...” The enemy wants you staring backward at what went wrong. But God is calling you forward into what He still has planned. Failure may be part of your story, but it does not have to be the final chapter. 2. BEFORE GOD CHANGED JOSHUA’S SITUATION, HE ADDRESSED JOSHUA’S HEART God said: “Fear not, neither be thou dismayed.” Why? Because Joshua had already experienced defeat at Ai. Going back meant confronting the memory of what happened there. Sometimes the hardest places to return to are the places where we were hurt. The places where we failed. The places where we were rejected. The places where we were embarrassed. The places where things did not work the first time. But God understood that before Joshua could fight another battle, his heart needed encouragement. Fear says: “What if it happens again?” Faith says: “What if God gives me victory this time?” Fear remembers what happened yesterday. Faith remembers Who God is today. Isaiah 41:10 says: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God...” God was telling Joshua: Don't let yesterday's defeat make you afraid of tomorrow's assignment. 3. SOMETIMES GOD WILL SEND YOU BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU LOST God told Joshua: “Arise, go up to Ai.” Think about that. God could have sent Israel somewhere else. But He sent them back to Ai. Why? Because Ai was not supposed to remain a monument to Israel’s failure. God was about to transform it into a testimony of His faithfulness. There are some places in our lives that the enemy wants permanently labeled: DEFEAT. FAILURE. REJECTION. DISAPPOINTMENT. PAIN. But God can rewrite the label! What once reminded you of your tears can eventually remind you of God's faithfulness. What once reminded you of your failure can eventually remind you of God's grace. What once reminded you of what went wrong can eventually become the testimony of how God turned it around. Don't be surprised when God gives you another opportunity in an area where things didn't work before. This time, you are not going back the same. You are going back wiser. You are going back stronger. You are going back more prayerful. You are going back more dependent upon God. And most importantly— YOU ARE GOING BACK WITH GOD! 4. GOD SPOKE VICTORY BEFORE JOSHUA SAW VICTORY God said: “See, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai...” Wait! The battle hadn't even started. The enemy was still occupying the city. The king was still sitting on his throne. The walls were still standing. But God said: “I HAVE GIVEN...” That's faith! God was speaking about the victory as though it had already happened. Joshua's circumstances said: “Ai still belongs to the enemy.” But God's Word said: “I've already given it to you.” Whose report are you going to believe? Sometimes God will speak victory while you're still looking at the battle. God will speak healing while you're still dealing with pain. God will speak provision while you're still looking at the bills. God will speak restoration while you're still looking at broken pieces. God will speak purpose while you're still recovering from disappointment. Faith learns to see what God said before it sees what God said manifested. Hebrews 11:1 says: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” If God said it, don't allow what you currently see to make you stop believing what He has spoken. 5. THE SAME GOD MAY GIVE YOU A DIFFERENT STRATEGY Jericho and Ai teach us something powerful. At Jericho, God told Israel to march around the city. At Ai, God told Joshua: “Lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.” Same God. Same Joshua. Same Israel. Same promise of victory. Different strategy. Sometimes we get into trouble because we assume that because God moved one way before, He must move the same way again. But God is not limited to yesterday's method. What worked in one season may not be the strategy God gives you in the next. Yesterday He said march. Today He says ambush. Yesterday He said wait. Today He may say move. Yesterday He closed the door. Today He may tell you to knock again. This is why we must remain close enough to God to hear fresh instructions. Proverbs 3:5–6 says: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Don't just ask God for victory. Ask God for strategy. “Lord, show me how to handle this.” “Show me when to move.” “Show me when to wait.” “Show me what to say.” “Show me what not to say.” “Show me the strategy for this season.” 6. OBEDIENCE AFTER FAILURE CAN LEAD TO VICTORY Joshua could not change what happened in chapter 7. But he could obey God in chapter 8. That's a word for somebody. You cannot rewrite yesterday, but you can obey God today. Stop allowing regret over what you cannot change to rob you of obedience concerning what you can do now. Yesterday may contain mistakes. Yesterday may contain tears. Yesterday may contain missed opportunities. But if God woke you up today, there is still purpose ahead of you. Philippians 3:13–14 says: “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark...” There comes a moment when you have to stop staring at chapter 7 and start walking into chapter 8. GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH YOUR STORY! A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT Maybe you have your own “Ai.” Something didn't work the first time. You prayed, but things didn't happen the way you expected. You stepped out, but you stumbled. You trusted someone and got hurt. You made a decision you wish you could change. And now fear whispers: “Don't try again.” But God says: “FEAR NOT.” Fear says: “Stay down.” God says: “ARISE.” Fear says: “Don't go back.” God says: “GO UP TO AI.” Fear says: “You'll lose again.” God says: “SEE, I HAVE GIVEN IT INTO THINE HAND.” Your setback does not have more authority than God's Word. Get up. Pray again. Believe again. Serve again. Dream again. Trust again. Move when God tells you to move. And this time, don't rely upon yesterday's strategy. Listen for God's instructions for today. Because sometimes your greatest testimony comes from returning to the very place where the enemy thought he defeated you. DECLARATION... I DECLARE that my setback will not become my stopping place! I will not allow yesterday's disappointment to control today's faith. I will not live in fear of failing again. I will arise! I will move forward! I will trust God's Word! I will follow God's strategy! And I will believe what God has spoken even before I see it manifested. The God who brought me through before is still with me now. My failure was not final. My setback was not the end. My purpose is still alive. My assignment is still before me. Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, thank You that our failures, disappointments, and setbacks do not have the final word over our lives. When fear tells us to stay down, speak into our spirits again: “Arise!” When discouragement tells us that we cannot try again, remind us that You are still with us. Lord, forgive us where we have disobeyed You, moved ahead of You, or depended upon our own understanding. Cleanse our hearts and restore our confidence in You. Give us courage to face the places that once intimidated us. Give us faith to return when You say return. Give us wisdom to recognize when You are giving us a new strategy. Help us not to depend upon yesterday's victories or remain imprisoned by yesterday's failures. Teach us to hear Your voice today. And Father, when we stand before our “Ai,” remind us that the battle does not belong to fear—it belongs to You. We declare that we are getting back up. We are moving forward. We are trusting again. Écriture 🌍 FUNDING & PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY – DIGITAL EVANGELISM, PEACE & COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION I am pleased to present a project that is very close to my heart: Digital Evangelism, Peace, Education and Community Transformation Initiative, led by Bagamang Evangelist's Ministry in Chad. As a Christian servant and evangelist, my sincere motivation is to use the opportunities and gifts God has given me to serve humanity, share the Gospel, encourage young people, promote peace and reconciliation, and use digital platforms responsibly to spread messages of hope, education and positive values. For some time, I have been using social media to evangelise, educate, encourage and promote peace. However, one major challenge is the lack of appropriate audiovisual equipment to produce high-quality videos, educational programs, interviews and digital awareness content capable of reaching a wider audience. 🎯 Our vision is to establish a sustainable digital media capacity that will allow us to: • Produce quality evangelistic and educational videos • Promote peace, reconciliation and social cohesion • Encourage young people through education and positive values • Promote responsible use of social media and the Internet • Train young people and volunteers in basic digital media skills • Reach communities locally, nationally and internationally through digital platforms The project is planned for 24 months, with an indicative budget of up to AUD 60,000, subject to the official funding requirements and eligibility criteria applicable to Chad. The project can also receive partial financial support, audiovisual equipment, computers, technical training, mentorship, Internet/digital services or other eligible in-kind contributions. Every contribution is valuable and can be adapted to the priorities and capacity of the partner or donor. 🙏🏽 My personal testimony and motivation I am not seeking support simply to acquire equipment. I am seeking partners who believe that digital communication can become a powerful instrument for education, peace, hope and positive transformation. I have continued this work with the limited resources available to me because I believe that what God has placed in our hands should be used to serve others and bring glory to Him. With appropriate tools and partnerships, I believe this work can reach many more people. My academic and professional background includes Christian leadership training at the Christian Leadership Institute in Michigan, USA (2022), a Bachelor's Degree in Humanitarian Project Management, and training in political advisory/public policy in Ghana, together with experience in education, leadership, project management and community engagement. Morning friends. I was the recipient of a “Small Act of Kindness” yesterday. It made me realize that kindness is really just paying attention out loud. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:31) Kindness begins when we notice. Notice the person sitting alone. Notice the tired eyes behind the smile. Notice the friend who stopped reaching out. Notice the waitress who looks exhausted. Notice the stranger carrying a burden nobody can see. Then, do something. Make the call. Give the hug. Speak the encouragement. Offer the prayer. Say, “I see you. You matter to me.” Kindness truly is just paying attention out loud. God has placed people in our path who need more than our good intentions. They need us to see them, hear them, and love them in a way they can feel. Jesus noticed Zacchaeus in the tree. He noticed Bartimaeus crying out. He noticed the lonely, the hurting, and the forgotten. Today, slow down long enough to notice somebody. You may be the answer to a prayer they haven’t found the courage to pray. And when we notice people, we give them a glimpse of Jesus. How bout we go love on some folks today?
