• THE NAME THAT RULES HEAVEN AND EARTH

And Jesus Came And Spake Unto Them, Saying, All Power Is Given Unto Me In Heaven And In Earth" (Matthew 28:18 KJV).

When the Lord Jesus declared, "...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth," He made a proclamation no earthly ruler could ever truthfully make. Throughout history, mighty empires arose with extraordinary influence and vast dominions.

The Pharaohs ruled with terrifying authority in Egypt. Nebuchadnezzar expanded Babylon's greatness across nations. The Persians, the Greeks, and later the Romans each dominated the world in their time. Yet, every one of those empires eventually crumbled.

However, while Rome still stood in all its pride and "Glory," the Lord Jesus came on the scene with a higher dominion. This wasn't merely political authority or earthly influence but absolute authority over all realms, visible and invisible, celestial and terrestrial. No emperor ever possessed that. No king ever ruled both heaven and earth. Only the Lord Jesus declared such authority.

This was why the disciples were so fiercely persecuted. They proclaimed another Kingdom while Caesar was still emperor. They preached a Name greater than Rome's authority, and the rulers of that age couldn't tolerate it. Yet, while they all faded away, the dominion of Christ continued increasingly unabated.

Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." His authority hasn't diminished. His Name hasn't weakened through the ages. The same Name that healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out devils, and shook nations in Bible days carries the same power today.

More wonderfully, He's given us the power of attorney, the legal right and divine authority to act in His stead. When you speak in the Name of Jesus, you're not uttering mere words; you're exercising authority from the One who rules heaven and earth. Therefore, never be intimidated by earthly systems, oppositions, or circumstances.

Empires may rise and fall, governments may change, and human powers may fade, but the Name of the Lord Jesus remains eternally supreme. Use that Name with boldness. Use it to enforce His will in your world, for He rules over all, now and forever. Hallelujah!

  • Matthew 21:18-27

This passage becomes controversial, not because of any major issue really but because of this fig tree. The Pharisees were all bent out of shape because of the previous day's events, and they were chomping at the bit to get Jesus.

So Jesus approaches Jerusalem and was hungry and begins looking for fruit amongst the leaves and He finds none. There are a few issues here. 1. This wasn't the time of year that figs were fruiting on the trees. So some try to say that Jesus should have known there were no figs on this tree and should not have cursed it, because there was never supposed to be figs ready.

And this is true, but there are young fig growths that develop into figs later in the season, and there were none of these little nibs either so that's why Jesus cursed the tree.

    2. The parallel account in Mark 11. In the parallel account, Jesus goes to the tree, finds no fruit and curses it, the disciples and Jesus enter Jerusalem and only notice the withered tree as they are leaving the city later that day. So why is one instantaneous reaction and the other isn't? We need to stop imposing 21st century rules of Grammar on ancient texts.

Mark wasn't obligated to present events in the same manner as Matthew. The emphasis should be on the lesson, not the timing. Mark wanted to emphasize the trip to Jerusalem before the lesson of the fig tree. Others say that here Jesus is performing a live action parable.

Israel is often seen in prophecy and Old Testament scripture as a fig tree. Sometimes it is a healthy fruiting tree, signifying a faithful Israel. At other times it is a dead tree signifying an Israel straying from God. So this trip to Jerusalem is seen as this parable where Jesus approached the tree only to find no fruit.

Whether the withering happened immediately or later is not the point. It's entirely possible that the immediate withering was not noticed by some of them until later, or that the entirety of the whole live parable took place for the purpose of teaching this one lesson and the timing is irrelevant. It doesn't change the words of scripture, doesn't alter any teachings in any way. So we need to stop forcing our need for grammatically pat answers on scripture.

It is here Jesus says that a prayer offered in faith can have miraculous results. And Jesus uses the example of asking for a mountain to move. Again, the emphasis is on the lesson not the seeming impossibility of the requested event occurring. And sadly, we do not have a biblical example of a physical mountain moving as a result of prayer.

This is the same Jesus who raised the dead and cast out demons so moving millions of tons of metric earth is in His wheelhouse. But the lesson is twofold. First, whatever we ask is doable because He is Almighty God. Second, Jesus is approaching Jerusalem toward the end of His earthly ministry expecting a response in the affirmative not because he believed they'd respond but because God promised the nation of Israel that they would have the opportunity to accept the gospel first but would ultimately reject Him.

So what is the point behind this lesson? Jesus comes to Jerusalem in His final week, cleanses the temple again, and is literally demonstrating that the fruit (faithfulness and fruit of righteousness) he is wanting to see (nibs) is nowhere to be found on the tree (Israel/Jerusalem). Jesus wasn't surprised that no nibs were available to eat, He wasn't shocked the tree had no fruit, He just made perfect use of an obvious fact to teach a somewhat unobvious truth.

[18] Now in the early morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry. [19] And seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves alone; and He *said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered. [20] Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?” [21] And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. [22] And whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive it all.”

  • Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 31 août 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar.

Then as He entered a village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said: Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. (Luke 17:12-13)

    Quarantine
The virus has struck: now we as a family are in quarantine for two weeks. Inevitably, I think of the men described in Luke 17. They are also in quarantine, suffering from leprosy, a highly contagious disease that was widespread at that time.
We don’t know how they came together. They are obviously fellow sufferers – outcasts, destitute and desperate.
But then they hear about Jesus, who is said to perform miracles. They adhere to the “social distancing” rules, but they cry out loudly for mercy – perhaps their last hope.
When Jesus sees them, He says to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” The priests couldn’t perform miracles, but in the case of healing they were allowed to issue a “certificate of healing”.
Obediently, the ten lepers set out. What do they have to lose? And then the miracle happens: they feel a change in their bodies. They are healed! Their joy is indescribable. But then the group breaks apart. One of them turns back. He no longer needs to maintain a distance as he is healed. He falls before Jesus and thanks Him for the miracle. From the mouth of the Saviour, he hears the words: “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” However, Jesus rightfully asks: “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”
What about us? Are we healed and cured of our “sin sickness”? If so, are we truly grateful to Him?

    Today’s reading: Judges 3:1-11 – 2 Corinthians 3:1-6

  • PROVERB OF THE DAY

    (Proverbs 29)

    1. He who is often rebuked, and
    hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

    2. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.

    3. Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice,
But a companion of harlots wastes his wealth.

    4. The king establishes the land by justice,
But he who receives bribes overthrows it.

    5. A man who flatters his neighbor
Spreads a net for his feet.

    6. By transgression an evil man is snared,
But the righteous sings and rejoices.

    7. The righteous considers the cause of the poor,
But the wicked does not understand such
    knowledge.

    8. Scoffers set a city aflame,
But wise men turn away wrath.

    9. If a wise man contends with a foolish man,
Whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace.

    10. The bloodthirsty hate the blameless,
But the upright seek his well-being.

    11. A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back.

    12. If a ruler pays attention to lies,
    All his servants become
    wicked.

    13. The poor man and the oppressor have this in common:
The LORD gives light to the eyes of both.

    14. The king who judges the poor with truth,
His throne will be established forever.

    15. The rod and rebuke give wisdom,
But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.

    16. When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases;
But the righteous will see their fall.

    17. Correct your son, and he will give you rest;
Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

    18. Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
But happy is he who keeps the law.

    19. A servant will not be corrected by mere words;
For though he understands, he will not respond.

    20. Do you see a man hasty in his words?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.

    21. He who pampers his servant from childhood
Will have him as a son in the end.

    22. An angry man stirs up strife,
And a furious man abounds in transgression.

    23. A man’s pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

    24. Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life;
He swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing.

    25. The fear of man brings a snare,
But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.

    26. Many seek the ruler’s favor,
But justice for man comes from the LORD.

    27. An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous,

“The testimony is this: God has given us eternal life, and this life has its source in his Son. Whoever has the Son has this life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” GNB
Being born again in Spirit means that your entire life will change. Perhaps you once lived a life of greed, or you were filled with bitterness and hatred. Perhaps your troubles were so bad that it weighed you down, perhaps you lived a life of sin and frivolity, indulging your desires and urges. Perhaps you just felt lost and alone. While all those troubles and temptations will not go away in a flash, you will find that you are less inclined to feel anxious or depressed. Those worldly temptations would not seem so attractive anymore, in fact,, compared to the peace and joy the Holy Spirit gives, those heady parties would seem decidedly dull.

Faith in Christ Jesus lifts the burden
Whether you carry a burden of sin, shame, guilt or are just troubled by cares and worries, accepting Jesus as your Saviour will lighten the load.
Psalms 55:22: “Leave your troubles with the LORD, and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.” GNB
Matthew 11:28-29: “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.” GNB

Spiritual rebirth makes you a new creature
You are no longer a slave of your sinful life, for Christ has set you free. You are renewed in spirit, washed in the blood of the Saviour, you are forgiven. Your old life must be left behind; its sins and shame forgotten, and you must live a new life in Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives in you now and you will be guarded and guided by Him. This is the beauty of salvation, you can start fresh, have a clean slate and build a new way of living, seeing the world with Spirit-filled eyes and bearing fruit to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17: “Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come.” GNB
1 Peter 1:23: “For through the living and eternal word of God you have been born again as the children of a parent who is immortal, not mortal.” GNB

    You’ve received eternal salvation
Your salvation cannot be taken from you. Your redemption is permanent, even if you should falter as a child of God. God understands that we are human beings, and that we are weak. That is why He sent the Holy Spirit to reside in us, so that we can stand firm and not wander off  the path of righteousness.
Psalms 37:23-24: “The LORD guides people in the way they should go and protects those who please him. If they fall, they will not stay down, because the LORD will help them up.” GNB
Romans 9:38-39: “For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above or the world below –  there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” GNB

You’ll have a need to become a disciple
Once the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in your heart, you will feel the need to share the Good News with those who still live according to the rules of the world. If you are afraid to talk in public for fear that others may mock you, do not worry, for God will give you the words to speak.
Ezekiel 2:7: “You will tell them whatever I tell you to say, whether they listen or not. Remember what rebels they are.” GNB
Luke 12:11-12: “When they bring you to be tried in the synagogues or before governors or rulers, do not be worried about how you will defend yourself or what you will say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” GNB

You can be sure of eternal life
Forgiveness and a clean slate are not the only prizes we receive through faith in Jesus Christ. The ultimate prize is eternal life. As Jesus promised before He ascended to the Father, He will prepare a place for us and then, when the time is right, He will return in the same way He went. He will come on the clouds to collect His children so that they can join Him in victory, forever praising God in the New Jerusalem.
Romans 6:23: “For sin pays its wage – death; but God’s free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.” GNB
1 Peter 1:3-5: “Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with living hope, and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away. They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God

  • I’ve been quietly working on something over the past couple of weeks, and it’s finally finished.

I’ve uploaded my complete 7-part series, “What Does God Want?” to YouTube.

It sounds like such a simple question. But depending on our religious background, many of us have absorbed very different answers.

Does God want us to try harder?
    Be better?
    Do more?
    Keep more rules?
    Prove our faithfulness?

And where do obedience, discipleship, good works, surrender, and perseverance fit if salvation really is by grace?

Those are the questions I explore in this series.

This subject is especially close to my heart because I spent many years in a religious system where grace and works became tangled together. After leaving Mormonism, I had to go back to Scripture and rethink some very basic questions I thought I already understood.

And what I discovered was not a Christianity with lower expectations.

It was something much better: grace comes first.

We don’t obey in order to become accepted by God. We obey because, through Jesus, we already are.

The whole seven-part series is now available on my YouTube channel. If this is something you’ve wrestled with—or if you know someone who has—I hope you’ll take a listen.

And if one of the episodes helps you, feel free to share it with someone else.

  • SERMON TO KINGDOMS — THRONES ON EARTH ARE TEMPORARY — KING OF KINGS IS ETERNAL — FOR TORO KINGDOM & ALL KINGDOMS — SAD NEWS OF KING OYO AT 34

What Son is speaking / shown through Red 7 Visions — Spiritual Advice for Kingdoms whose culture norms worship not with alignment to sound doctrine — So that souls even if dead remain of Lord's

Ps 146:3-4 — Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish.
Dan 2:21 — He removes kings and raises up kings.

    1. CONFIRMED SORROW — KING OYO OF TORO DEAD YOUNG — SAD NEWS

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV — world's youngest monarch crowned at 3 — died at about 10pm on August 27, 2026, aged 34, after nearly 31 years reign. 5b66

Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki confirmed: profound sadness — immeasurable loss — continuity of Crown assured, leaves Prince heir. 64ba

Living ones in Toro, Uganda — hear — Job 1:21 — Naked came I... LORD gave and LORD has taken away — And some other king in Europe dead too — Same week — Trumpet sounding to thrones: thrones shake.

    2. WHAT SON IS SPEAKING THROUGH VISIONS — RED 7 LENS TO KINGDOMS

Through Red 7 vision — judgement of correction first to house made 1 Pet 4:17 — purified with love Heb 12:6 — Gold pure Job 23:10 — Now to evil doers and to thrones — heavier strokes if refuse Luke 12:48 — because God will not share glory with idols.

Son is saying: Kingdoms of kings on earth need to follow those alive so that their souls even if dead remain of Lord's — Rom 14:8 — For if we live, we live to Lord; and if we die, we die to Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are Lord's.

Why? Because some culture norms worship not with alignment with sound doctrine:

Worship of royal drums as gods — Ex 20:3 — No other gods before Me.
Consulting dead kings, ancestors, spirits of dead — Deut 18:10-12 — abomination — Lev 20:6 — I will set My face against person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits.
Mock battles, millet rituals to appease ancestors — Isa 8:19 — Should a people seek their God? Should they seek dead on behalf of living?
Lion-skin crowns, sacred drums turned upside down when king dies — tradition that gives power to object not to Christ — Col 2:8 — Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to tradition of men... and not according to Christ.
Fornication, drunkenness in enthronement celebrations — Gal 5:19-21 — will not inherit kingdom of God.

These culture norms — if not corrected — soul does not remain of Lord's when dead — perishes — John 8:24 — If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins — Heb 9:27 — It is appointed for men to die once, but after this judgment.

    3. SPIRITUAL ADVICE TO KINGDOMS — FOLLOW THOSE ALIVE — SOUND DOCTRINE

What must kingdoms do so souls even if dead remain of Lord's?

    A. Acknowledge King of kings over cultural kings

1 Tim 6:15 — He who is blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Ps 2:10-11 — Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of earth. Serve LORD with fear.
Dan 4:32 — Till you know that Most High rules in kingdom of men.

No Omukama, no Kabaka, no Kyabazinga, no king in Europe is King of kings — All thrones under Christ — Rev 19:16 — KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Advice: Toro Kingdom and all kingdoms — Put Christ first in palace — Matt 6:33 — Seek first kingdom of God — Not drum first.

    B. Worship in Spirit and Truth — Not Ancestors

John 4:24 — God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Culture says seek ancestors — Sound doctrine says seek Christ — 1 Tim 2:5 — For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

Col 1:18 — That in all things He may have preeminence.

Advice: Stop consulting dead — Isa 8:19 — Burial rites should point to Christ resurrection 1 Thess 4:14 — not turning drums upside down to call spirits. Let royal drum be culture artifact — not god.

    C. Repent — Believe Gospel — Live Pure — Belong to Lord in Life and Death

Acts 20:28 — Church purchased with His own blood — belongs to Christ.

To belong to Lord even if dead — must belong to Lord while alive:

Rom 10:9 — If you confess with your mouth Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from dead, you will be saved.
2 Cor 5:15 — He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
1 John 3:9 — Whoever born of God does not practice sin — true Israel.
Tit 2:11-12 — Grace teaches us that, denying ungodliness... we should live soberly, righteously.

King Oyo promoted education, youth, tourism — Good works — But good works without sound doctrine cannot keep soul as Lord's after death — Eph 2:8-9 — For by grace you have been saved through faith... not of works. 64ba

Soul remains Lord's only if sealed by Blood — Eph 1:13 — Sealed with Holy Spirit of promise — Rom 14:8.

    D. Pray for Kings — But Teach Kings Sound Doctrine

1 Tim 2:1-2 — Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers... be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead quiet and peaceable life in all godliness.
2 Tim 4:2-3 — Preach word!... For time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.

Kingdoms — Do not just mourn — Reform — Let chaplains preach Christ crucified, not syncretism — 1 Cor 2:2 — I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

    4. FINAL WARNING — THRONES FALL TO TEACH THAT ONLY CHRIST THRONE REMAINS

Heb 12:27-28 — Yet once more I shake... that those things which cannot be shaken may remain... Therefore, since we are receiving kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace.

King Oyo died 34 — young — like father died 1995 — Ps 90:12 — So teach us to number our days, that we may gain heart of wisdom.

Some king in Europe dead too — Same shake — Isa 40:23 — He brings princes to nothing; He makes judges of earth useless.

Spiritual advice from Son through visions: Let kingdoms now turn — Follow those alive in Christ — Not dead traditions — So souls of kings and subjects even if dead remain of Lord's — Rom 14:8.

If refuse — More thrones will empty — Rev 6:15 — Then kings of earth... hid themselves.

If obey — Rev 21:24 — And kings of earth bring their glory and honor into New Jerusalem.

ALTAR CALL TO TORO & ALL KINGDOMS:

Josh 24:15 — Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve LORD.

Leave ancestor worship — Leave drum worship — Believe Blood — Live pure — Be true Israel — Church bought by Blood belongs to Christ — Whether live or die — Yours remains Lord's.

Let Toro say: From today — Christ is Omukama of Toro — King of kings reigns in Karuziika Palace.

Rev 5:12 — Worthy is Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

Amen — Rest King Oyo — But let living kingdoms hear and repent — Before throne empty again.
SERMON TO KINGDOMS — THRONES ON EARTH ARE TEMPORARY — KING OF KINGS IS ETERNAL — FOR TORO KINGDOM & ALL KINGDOMS — SAD NEWS OF KING OYO AT 34 What Son is speaking / shown through Red 7 Visions — Spiritual Advice for Kingdoms whose culture norms worship not with alignment to sound doctrine — So that souls even if dead remain of Lord's Ps 146:3-4 — Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish. Dan 2:21 — He removes kings and raises up kings. 1. CONFIRMED SORROW — KING OYO OF TORO DEAD YOUNG — SAD NEWS King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV — world's youngest monarch crowned at 3 — died at about 10pm on August 27, 2026, aged 34, after nearly 31 years reign. 5b66 Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki confirmed: profound sadness — immeasurable loss — continuity of Crown assured, leaves Prince heir. 64ba Living ones in Toro, Uganda — hear — Job 1:21 — Naked came I... LORD gave and LORD has taken away — And some other king in Europe dead too — Same week — Trumpet sounding to thrones: thrones shake. 2. WHAT SON IS SPEAKING THROUGH VISIONS — RED 7 LENS TO KINGDOMS Through Red 7 vision — judgement of correction first to house made 1 Pet 4:17 — purified with love Heb 12:6 — Gold pure Job 23:10 — Now to evil doers and to thrones — heavier strokes if refuse Luke 12:48 — because God will not share glory with idols. Son is saying: Kingdoms of kings on earth need to follow those alive so that their souls even if dead remain of Lord's — Rom 14:8 — For if we live, we live to Lord; and if we die, we die to Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are Lord's. Why? Because some culture norms worship not with alignment with sound doctrine: Worship of royal drums as gods — Ex 20:3 — No other gods before Me. 3. SPIRITUAL ADVICE TO KINGDOMS — FOLLOW THOSE ALIVE — SOUND DOCTRINE What must kingdoms do so souls even if dead remain of Lord's? A. Acknowledge King of kings over cultural kings 1 Tim 6:15 — He who is blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords. B. Worship in Spirit and Truth — Not Ancestors John 4:24 — God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. C. Repent — Believe Gospel — Live Pure — Belong to Lord in Life and Death Acts 20:28 — Church purchased with His own blood — belongs to Christ. To belong to Lord even if dead — must belong to Lord while alive: Rom 10:9 — If you confess with your mouth Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from dead, you will be saved. 64ba Soul remains Lord's only if sealed by Blood — Eph 1:13 — Sealed with Holy Spirit of promise — Rom 14:8. D. Pray for Kings — But Teach Kings Sound Doctrine 1 Tim 2:1-2 — Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers... be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead quiet and peaceable life in all godliness. 4. FINAL WARNING — THRONES FALL TO TEACH THAT ONLY CHRIST THRONE REMAINS Heb 12:27-28 — Yet once more I shake... that those things which cannot be shaken may remain... ALTAR CALL TO TORO & ALL KINGDOMS: Josh 24:15 — Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...

Is There Such a Thing as Fate?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Is there such a thing as fate, or is fate simply the catch-all for what you can't explain? The Merriam-Webster New Collegiate Dictionary defines fate as "that which remains destined to happen." Our English word comes from the Latin fatum which means something ordained from the gods. It grew out of a story from Greek mythology which involves three goddesses. The first, Clotho, or the Spinner, was supposed to weave the thread of life while the second, Lachesis, or the Disposer of Lots, determined the length of the thread. It was the third in the trilogy, Atropos, or the Inflexible One, who allegedly cut the thread of life causing fate to strike its terrible blow.

Today it's common for people to blame fate for all kinds of things over which we have no control, whether it is a bolt of lightning or a car accident that you couldn't help. Is there such a thing as fate or chance? If there is a sovereign God who directs in the affairs of mankind, fate isn't a viable option.

The Bible, and in particular the writings of the New Testament, tells us that God intervenes in the affairs of humanity, that all history is moving towards a fixed point of reference when time is absorbed by eternity and life as we know it now will come to an end. But what about our personal affairs? How emphatic, how direct is God's intervention in what happens day-in and day-out?

First, the New Testament says it is not Atropos or fate who cuts the thread of your life. Hebrews 9:27 says, "It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment." Paul addressed the issue of fate for God's child when he wrote to the Ephesians saying that God "works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will," (Ephesians 1:11). The book of Romans says very clearly there is no fate for the child of God who walks according to his Father's will. Remember those comforting words: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

Sounds good, right? But does it really translate when things go bad? Is God likewise responsible for wrong things as well as good? When something happens which doesn't quite fit into the scheme of things as I think it should, I ask three questions:

Question #1: "Is Satan opposing me?" And there are times when clearly he hinders the work of God. Now, if Satan hindered Paul from coming to the Thessalonians when he wanted to do so, why shouldn't he be able to hinder us today?

Question #2: "Has God allowed this difficulty as discipline in my life to bring me back into his will?" Make a note of Proverbs 3 and Hebrews 12, which both tell us it is because God loves us, He disciplines us just as a father does his own children.

Question #3: "Is this simply a combination of circumstances for which there isn't any particular deep spiritual significance - say, a flat tire or an appliance that has worn out?" Naturally, these irritations try us, but I can't really see the intervention of either God or the devil in some things, though God can use everything to shape us and to bring our lives into conformity with His plan.

Friend, how did you answer that question, "Is there such a thing as fate, or luck, or chance?" For God's children, the will of the Father rules all of that out. And that is a fact, because we have a Heavenly Father who guides in the affairs of His children.
