📘 Daily Devotion — September 2 | Acts 23:24 (NKJV) 💯 God Makes a Way of Escape Paul was in a dangerous situation. A group of men had formed a plot against him and were determined to kill him. Yet God was already working behind the scenes to protect His servant. The Roman commander ordered that Paul be taken safely to Felix the governor. Paul did not have control over everything happening around him, but God used circumstances and people in authority to provide a way for him to continue his journey. This passage reminds us that God is able to protect us in ways we may not expect. Sometimes His protection comes through people, circumstances, opportunities, or doors that He opens at exactly the right time. Paul's life teaches us that being faithful to God does not mean we will never face danger or difficulty. It means that our lives remain in God's hands. When He has given us a purpose, He is able to make a way for us to continue fulfilling it. There may be situations in our lives where we cannot see a solution. We may feel surrounded by problems or uncertain about what will happen next. But God sees what we cannot see. We can trust Him to guide our steps and provide what is necessary in His perfect timing. Rather than allowing fear to control us, we can place our confidence in the God who is able to make a way where there seems to be none. Need to know. Signs You Have an Octopus Spirit! What is the Octopus Spirit? This is a spirit that causes you to feel like your mind is wrapped, squeezed, and pulled in many directions at once. It clouds your thinking, steals your peace, and tries to choke out your spiritual life with lies that sound like your own voice. The Bible does not use the word ‘octopus’ but it does describe this type of mental attack and calls us to take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) So here are 8 points, or ‘tentacles,’ that can show if you are being oppressed by this spirit. Tentacle #1: You have intrusive thoughts that you did not invite. For example: - You are worship and a blasphemous thought flashes in. - You are driving and a thought tells you to hurt yourself. - You are holding your child and a dark image appears. You feel sick inside and wonder what is wrong with you. James 1:14 shows the enemies entices and whispers. You are not the thoughts you did not invite. Tentacle #2: Every thought turns hopeless. You make one small mistake and your mind jumps to ‘it is over.’ You have one bad day and feel, ‘this is who I am forever.’ If your thoughts keep ending in, ‘there is no point,’ that is a sign of mental oppression. Tentacle #3: You have mental loops that don’t stop. - You replay old conversations nonstop. - You reheard disasters that have not happened. - You wake up at night and relive things you cannot change. You are not processing. You are in torment. The octopus spirit keeps your mind spinning without peace. Tentacle #4: Your thoughts become your identity. You used to think, ‘I am struggling with fear.’ Now you say, ‘I am a fearful person.’ You used to think, ‘I am tempted by lust.’ Now you call yourself a lustful person. The Bible tells you to take thoughts captive, not to wear them as your name. When a repeated thought becomes how you describe yourself, it turns into a stronghold. Tentacle #5: Prayer feels heavy and numbing feels easy. The Bible feels boring, worship feels hollow, and prayer feels dry and heavy. But scrolling, eating, drinking, and binge watching feel effortless. This can be spiritual warfare that pulls you away from what nourishes your spirit and drags you toward what only numbs you. Tentacle #6: You hide and isolate. You start thinking things like: - ‘Do not tell anyone.’ - ‘They will judge me.’ - ‘No one will understand.’ - ‘Handle your problems alone.’ This spirit thrives in secrecy and isolation. The Bible calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other to be healed. (James 5:16) When you think your thoughts into the light, the grip of this spirit begins to loosen. Tentacle #7: You live in mental fog and double mindedness. You feel constant fog in your mind and struggle to focus, pray, and make decisions. Some days you feel close to God, but other days you feel numb and distant. That fog is not from your Father. It is the enemy clouding the water so you cannot see clearly. Tentacle #8: You start giving yourself permission to sin. At first the voice in your head tempts you. Then it starts to sound like permission. - ‘You deserve it.’ - ‘Just do it this once.’ - ‘God will understand.’ - ‘It’s not that serious.’ When your own thoughts start writing permission slips and signing God’s name on them, this is a sign that this spirit is at work. If you see these signs in your life, it does not mean things are hopeless. It means the Holy Spirit is bringing this into the light so Jesus can set you free. Here is what to do: - Come to Jesus and confess that your mind belongs to Him. - Identify the lies and name them out loud as lies. - Replace lies with the truth of Scripture. - Repent of any open doors and invite Jesus to close them. - In the name of Jesus, command every spirit tied to these lies to leave. - Refuse isolation and share honestly with a trusted, mature believer. - Begin to renew your mind daily in the word of God. You do not have to live with this forever. In Christ there is real freedom.

# **DWELLING IN THE SECRET PLACE** There is a difference between **visiting God and living close to God**. Psalm 91:1 says, *“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”* I think of the secret place as that quiet space where you can put everything down for a moment—the things you cannot explain to anyone, the worries you carry into the night, the questions you are afraid to ask out loud. It is where you come before God without pretending that everything is fine. In His presence, you can breathe again. The secret place is not necessarily a particular room, building, or mountain. It is a life of intimacy with God. It may be those early minutes before everyone else wakes up, a quiet corner after a long day, or simply a moment in your car when you turn everything off and talk honestly to God. **To dwell means to remain.** It is more than running to God when life falls apart and then forgetting Him when things become comfortable. It is learning to walk with Him in ordinary days as well as difficult ones. When you make God's presence a regular part of your life, prayer becomes more than an emergency call; it becomes a relationship. Something changes when you spend time with God consistently. Your problems may not disappear overnight, but your perspective begins to change. You become less controlled by fear and less dependent on people's approval. You begin to recognize God's voice, understand His Word more clearly, and make decisions from a place of faith rather than panic. The secret place does not promise a life without trouble; it gives you somewhere to stand when trouble comes. **Psalm 91:2** says, *“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’”* Perhaps you have been trying to carry too much on your own. You have been strong for everyone else, answering messages, solving problems, meeting expectations, and quietly wondering who will strengthen you. **Come back to the secret place.** You don't have to arrive with perfect words. Come tired. Come confused. Come grateful. Come disappointed. Just come. God is not asking you to perform; He is inviting you into His presence. Don't make the secret place somewhere you visit only when you are desperate. **Make it your dwelling.** Let prayer become part of your rhythm. Let Scripture shape your thinking. Let worship quiet your heart. And when the storms come—and they will—you will have something deeper than circumstances to hold onto. **You will know where your strength comes from, where your peace is found, and where you can return when everything around you feels uncertain.**

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. A man of wisdom said, “There are three enemies of personal peace: regret over yesterday’s mistakes, anxiety over tomorrow’s problems and ingratitude for today’s blessing.” Count your blessing at every given opportunity. Take time today to reflect on all you must be thankful for. Take time to think, and you will undoubtedly thank God more. Dwight L. Moody said, “Be humble or you’ll stumble.” There is a close relationship between pride and ingratitude for a proud man is seldom grateful; he never thinks he gets as much as he deserves. When you live a life of gratitude, you are on the path of greatness because great people are always grateful. Thankful words do not cost much, yet they accomplish so much. This is your day. In this text, Israel was threatened by the giant Philistine Goliath in a battle. No one dared him until the young David showed up. Without fear, he stood before Goliath in confidence, trusting in the Lord who had delivered him from the lions and bears. He believed that the same God had given him victory over the Philistines. We are facing both spiritual and physical threats; ritualists, witches and wizards, and terrorists. We are killed daily with no one to speak in our defence. As young people, we must also be brave, courageous, and firm in our faith as we boldly pursue God's purpose for our lives. As we seek to defend ourselves, faith and prayer must be our watchword first. *REFLECTION:* God has not given us the spirit of fear. *PRAYER:* Lord, help me to be bold to face the challenges of life. Many people, children of God also, try to get rid of their problems. This is a good thing. However, the point is that many children of God have the illusion that when their problems are solved, they will be happy and have peace in their hearts. Happy in all circumstances But dear readers, Christians, the living God our Father wants us to be happy even when the circumstances are not as we want them to be. If you allow for your peace and tranquility to depend on circumstances, you will never be happy because there is always a change. This will be the same until your last breath. The apostle Paul gives a list of difficult situations he has experienced in life. Despite all, Paul was more than a conqueror in Jesus, who gave Him the strength to move on. You can also be more than a conqueror in the middle of your storm. Dear readers, do not always try to use all your faith to solve problems. You must learn to use your faith to have peace and tranquility in the storms of life. While the disciples were very concerned and tried to solve their problem, Jesus was sleeping wonderfully. BE OF GOOD CHEER Christ Has Overcome the World ANCHOR SCRIPTURE John 16:33 (KJV) “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” 1. EXPECT CHALLENGES Jesus never promised a trouble-free life. “In the world ye shall have tribulation.” Problems may come, but they don't have the final word. 2. KEEP YOUR PEACE Our peace is found in Christ, not in perfect circumstances. Your situation may shake, but Christ can keep your heart steady. 3. BE OF GOOD CHEER Jesus says, “Be of good cheer.” Don't allow trouble to steal your hope, courage or faith. 4. REMEMBER: JESUS HAS WON “I have overcome the world.” Our confidence is not in ourselves but in the victory of Christ. KEY LESSON 1. Trouble may come. 2. Peace is available in Christ. 3. PLANTED BY THE RIVERS There is a quiet strength that comes from knowing where your roots are. Psalm 1:3 gives us a beautiful picture of a person who has learned to stay close to God: “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither.” I love the picture of a tree beside a river. The tree does not have to panic every time the weather changes. When the sun is hot, its roots can still reach the water. When the wind blows, it may bend, but it does not easily fall. Its strength comes from what is beneath the surface. Being planted in God is much the same. Life will have its dry seasons. There will be days when prayers seem unanswered, plans don't work out, people disappoint you, and you wonder how much longer you can keep going. But when your life is rooted in God's Word and your relationship with Him, difficult seasons don't have to destroy you. You may become tired, you may shed some tears, and you may even have moments when your faith feels weak—but you have a source deeper than your circumstances. God becomes the place you return to when everything else feels uncertain. Being planted also means staying. It is easy to seek God when we need an urgent answer, but being rooted requires something deeper—a consistent walk with Him. It means opening His Word when nobody is watching, praying even when you don't feel particularly spiritual, obeying when obedience is uncomfortable, and allowing God to correct and shape you. Going to church is important, but simply attending services is not the same as being rooted. You can sit in church every week and still remain spiritually dry. The goal is not merely to be around God's presence; it is to allow His Word to take root in your heart and influence the way you live. And notice that the tree produces fruit “in its season.” That matters. Not every season looks the same. There are seasons for growing, seasons for waiting, seasons for pruning, and seasons for bearing fruit. Don't become discouraged because your life doesn't look like someone else's. A tree doesn't produce fruit every day, yet it remains alive and connected to its source. Your season will come. Keep growing. Keep trusting. Keep your roots in the right place. Jeremiah 17:7–8 says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord... He will be like a tree planted by the water... its leaves are always green.” That is the kind of life God invites us to live—not a life without problems, but a life that remains alive in the middle of them. When the season is dry, stay planted. When the wind blows, stay planted. When you don't understand what God is doing, stay planted. Your strength is not in how perfect your circumstances are; it is in how deeply your roots reach into God.

🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 242 DATE: 30TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS_1 ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 4:3–4 (NKJV) “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe...” — Devotional message: One of the greatest strategies of the enemy is not only to create problems but to blind people to the solutions God has already placed within them.Paul tells us that “the god of this age has blinded” the minds of those who do not believe. Spiritual blindness can cause a person to see the problem but fail to recognize the grace, authority, wisdom, resources, and potential God has placed within them to become part of the solution. You see your family in trouble, and instead of asking God, “What can I do?”, you join everyone else in complaining.You see your child trapped in addiction, drunkenness, or a lifestyle that does not glorify God, and you simply say, “That is how they are.”You see problems in your community, workplace, nation, church, or family, and you join the multitude in lamenting about them. Child of God, you are not merely a spectator of the problems around you; you are called to be part of God's solution.Why should the sick be around you without you praying for them and trusting God for their healing? Why should someone oppressed by darkness be regarded as a hopeless case when Jesus has given His Church authority over the power of the enemy? Why should a child lack school fees while you have been entrusted with resources? Why should a servant of God go hungry while God has blessed you with the ability to provide? Why should someone struggle to pay rent while you have the capacity to help? This is not to suggest that every problem around us is solely our responsibility or that we can solve everything through human strength. Rather, God has strategically positioned His people in different places and entrusted them with different resources so that they can become channels of His grace. What you carry matters.Jesus said:“He who believes in Me... out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” — John 7:38 (NKJV).There is something God has deposited within you that is meant to flow beyond you. A river does not exist merely to water itself; it flows so that others may live. Therefore, do not become so consumed by the magnitude of the problem that you forget the greatness of the God who lives in you.The enemy wants you to look at the mountain and conclude, “It is too big.”God wants you to look at the mountain and ask, “Lord, what have You placed in me that can become part of the answer?” The Israelites cried because of their oppression in Egypt, and God raised Moses. When humanity was lost in sin, God sent His Son. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly raised people whom He positioned as instruments of deliverance, provision, leadership, wisdom, and transformation. Complaining without action does not transform communities. But prayer, wisdom, obedience, generosity, creativity, courage, and action can become instruments through which God brings transformation.Remember: you are not the source; God is the Source. You are the vessel. The power, wisdom, grace, and resources ultimately come from Him. Ephesians 4:17 NLT With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Good morning and praise God. I hope you are having a good day. Welcome to another devotion message from me, a servant of the Most High God. I would start with problems I've been going through but today's message reminds me I have a higher calling than all my troubles in this life. I am forever grateful to God and He has taught me through good times and also through times of trouble to trust in Him and Him only. I no longer trust what I feel or I know for all that might be a lie. God is always my near help all times and I rejoice in knowing this. Hallelujah. In today's message, that Paul signs with Jesus Christ, we are reminded that we should no longer live as gentiles do, they are hopelessly confused. It is one thing to experience what every person born of a woman experience in life but it is different to live as a chosen one. The chosen one must live differently though he/she goes through same challenges as other human beings. Our life solutions as born again Christians are to be drawn from what God has provided us rather than what our carnality may try to dictate. We are not to treat any matter of our lives separate from our faith. We are not our own but rather a God's project in this world. We are a chosen generation for the Lord's work. Our hope is not in what we have or what we don't have but rather in Christ alone. We pray and revere God not because of what's happening around us but because we hunger to be in a more closer relationship with Him just as children runs to be in the arms of their Father. Take a moment today and put down all that which has been pressing you down at Jesus' feet. Offload that burden and look up to where God is and find your solace, comfort, peace, joy in your Father in Heaven.If God be for you, what can a mere man do to you?
