Guard and Renew Your Mind (Romans 12:2) Your mind is a battlefield. Every day, you are exposed to thousands of messages telling you what to believe, what to desire, what success looks like, what happiness should look like, and what you should value. Social media. Music. Movies. Friends. News. Advertisements. The people you follow. The conversations you have. Even the thoughts you repeatedly tell yourself. Over time, these things can influence the way you think without you even realizing it. That's why the Bible says: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Notice the word: Transformed. Following Jesus isn't simply about changing your appearance or using Christian language. Jesus wants to transform the way you think. The way you see yourself. The way you see other people. The way you respond to temptation. The way you handle money. The way you define success. The way you deal with disappointment. The way you make decisions. The way you understand your purpose. The world constantly tells you: “Follow your heart.” But Scripture teaches us to allow God to transform our hearts and minds through His truth. Not every thought you have deserves to be believed. Not every desire should be followed. Not every opinion online deserves your attention. Not every trend deserves your participation. Not every voice deserves influence over your life. You need discernment. Ask yourself: “Is this helping me become more like Christ?” That question can change the way you consume content. Before watching something, ask. Before listening to something repeatedly, ask. Before following someone online, ask. Before joining a conversation, ask. Before accepting a popular opinion, ask: “Does this agree with God's truth?” This doesn't mean you should hide from the world. Jesus called His followers to be lights in the world. But being in the world doesn't mean allowing the world's values to control you. You can use social media without allowing social media to define your worth. You can enjoy entertainment without allowing entertainment to shape your morality. You can learn from people without making people your ultimate authority. You can be aware of culture without becoming controlled by culture. Guard your mind. Because what repeatedly enters your mind eventually influences your heart, your words, and your actions. If you constantly consume negativity, don't be surprised when negativity begins shaping your outlook. If you constantly compare yourself with others, don't be surprised when you become dissatisfied with your own life. If you constantly consume materialism, don't be surprised when you begin believing that possessions determine your value. If you constantly listen to voices that tell you that you're not enough, don't be surprised when insecurity takes root. But the opposite is also true. Fill your mind with God's Word. Fill your mind with truth. Fill your mind with gratitude. Fill your mind with encouragement. Fill your mind with things that strengthen your faith. The more you know God's truth, the easier it becomes to recognize what contradicts it. That's why reading Scripture isn't just a religious routine. It renews your mind. When God's Word says you are created in His image, you don't have to let social media determine your worth. When God's Word says you are loved by God, you don't have to chase everyone's approval. When God's Word says God is with you, you don't have to allow fear to control every decision. When God's Word calls you to forgive, you don't have to allow bitterness to become your identity. When God's Word calls you to purity, you don't have to follow every desire. When God's Word calls you to serve, you don't have to live only for yourself. The battle for your life often begins with the battle for your mind. That's why Proverbs 4:23 tells us: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Be careful what you allow to take root. And when wrong thoughts enter your mind, don't panic. A thought appearing in your mind isn't the same as choosing to embrace it. Bring it to God. Challenge it with Scripture. Replace lies with truth. Replace fear with faith. Replace bitterness with forgiveness. Replace comparison with gratitude. Replace hopelessness with the promises of God. Replace pride with humility. Replace selfishness with love. This is part of spiritual growth. You don't become more like Christ overnight. It happens as God continually transforms you. Day by day. Thought by thought. Decision by decision. So today, take an honest look at what has been influencing your mind. What are you watching? What are you listening to? Who are you following? What conversations are you constantly participating in? What thoughts do you repeatedly tell yourself? Are these things drawing you closer to Christ—or pulling you away from Him? You don't have to keep consuming something simply because everyone else does. You don't have to follow every trend. You don't have to accept every popular opinion. You have permission to say: “This isn't good for my spiritual life.” Then walk away. Your mind is valuable. Your heart is valuable. Your spiritual life is valuable. Protect them. And most importantly, give them to God. Don't allow the world to shape you more than God's Word does. Let Christ transform you from the inside out. Today, choose one unhealthy influence to reduce and one godly influence to increase. Spend more time in Scripture. Pray. Worship. Choose wise friendships. Consume content that strengthens your faith. And ask God to renew your mind. Ecclesiastes 11:9-10 (NIV) ⁹ You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. ¹⁰ So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless. —————————— I think one of the biggest misconceptions people have about this verse is that God is against fun. But when I read it, I see the opposite. This verse acknowledges something beautiful: youth is a gift. It's a season filled with energy, dreams, curiosity, friendships, first experiences, and countless opportunities. It's the season where we create memories we'll laugh about years from now and mistakes we'll hopefully learn from too. God isn't telling us to sit in a corner and wait for life to happen. He tells us to rejoice. To enjoy the season we're in. To appreciate the people around us. To embrace the opportunities in front of us. But He also gives a reminder that hits differently: "Know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment." In other words, enjoy life, but don't forget that your choices matter. Not every opportunity is a good opportunity. Not every trend is worth following. Not every desire deserves to be chased. In a world that constantly says, "Do whatever makes you happy," this verse reminds me to ask a different question: "Will this make me proud of the person I'm becoming?" Because youth isn't just about having fun. It's about building a life. The habits we form today become our character tomorrow. The decisions we make today shape the future version of ourselves. That's why Ecclesiastes 12:1 continues with this reminder: "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth." I think the wisdom still applies to everybody: Enjoy your life. Take the trip. Make the memories. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Love the people around you. But don't lose yourself trying to fit in. Don't trade your values for temporary approval. Don't sacrifice your future for a moment of pleasure. God doesn't want us to waste our youth chasing things that won't last. He wants us to enjoy life while walking closely with Him. So yes, have fun. Make memories. Laugh a lot. But don't forget the One who gave you those moments One day, our youth will become a memory. And when that day comes, I hope we can look back and say: "I didn't spend my youth perfectly, but I spent it meaningfully." Because years from now, I don't just want to remember that I enjoyed my youth. I want to remember that I spent it with Jesus. 🧡

Now look at the other side: One Lion leading 10 sheep. It doesn't look impressive. The crowd is small. The conference may have only 10 people. The church may have 100. The preacher may not be famous. The ministry may not trend online. But what if that small congregation is being faithfully taught: Christ. Repentance. Righteousness. Sanctification. Holiness. Truth. Readiness for eternity. Let God’s Word Guide You (Psalm 119:105) Life doesn't always come with clear instructions. Sometimes you have to make an important decision without knowing exactly what will happen next. You may be asking: “Which direction should I take?” “Should I accept this opportunity?” “Should I walk away?” “Can I trust this person?” “What does God want me to do?” When the path ahead is unclear, we need something we can trust. The Bible says: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Think about walking through a dark place at night. You don't need a light that shows you every kilometre of the road ahead. You need enough light to see your next step. That is how God's Word often works. God may not reveal your entire future. But He gives you truth for today. He gives you wisdom for the decision in front of you. He gives you principles for how to live. And He reminds you of who He is when fear and uncertainty begin to take over. The world gives us countless opinions about how we should live. Social media tells us what success should look like. Friends may tell us what choices to make. Culture may tell us what is acceptable. Our emotions may tell us what feels right. But God's Word gives us a foundation that doesn't change with every trend. When you're confused, go to Scripture. When you're afraid, go to Scripture. When you're tempted, go to Scripture. When you're discouraged, go to Scripture. When you're making an important decision, seek God's wisdom. Reading the Bible isn't simply about collecting Bible verses. It is about allowing God's truth to shape your character, choices, priorities, and relationship with Him. Don't only read Scripture when you're in trouble. Build your life on it before the trouble comes. Make time for God's Word in the morning. Read a passage before you sleep. Study it with other believers. Meditate on what you read. Ask: “What is God teaching me?” “What should I change?” “How can I obey this?” And then put what you learn into practice. The Bible becomes powerful in our lives when we don't merely hear God's Word but live according to it. There may be days when you don't understand why God is allowing something to happen. There may be seasons when the road ahead looks completely dark. But you can still trust His Word. You don't need to know everything. You need to know the One who does. And as you walk with God, His Word can illuminate the next step. One step at a time. One decision at a time. One day at a time. When you don't know where to go, let God's Word show you how to walk. Don't allow the noise of the world to become louder than the voice of God's truth. Open the Bible. Read it. Believe it. Obey it. Live it. And let it point you continually toward Jesus. Matthew 19:1-12 Remember that every time the Pharisees test Jesus with a question, it wasn't because they wanted the answer, it was to test Him. So the question they ask is purposely a binary choice. A question with intentionally so, only two possible answers, yes or No. In Jesus’ day there were two schools of thought on the subject of divorce. The liberal school taught that divorce was permitted if your wife burned breakfast. Yeah, literally that's in the language of the scholarly books. The conservative school taught that divorce was not permitted, at all in any way but only permitted in cases where the spouse was unfaithful, so it was two extremes on opposite ends. So the Jews test Him, because either answer isolates half of the population. So Jesus answers the fundamental issue under the question will God allow divorce? And Jesus's answer is very firm, at marriage, two bodies are joined into one flesh. And God considers the marriage indelible, permanent from the beginning. The truth is no, God doesn't want divorce for his people. God never intended divorce to exist. He allowed it to exist because of the hardness of the hearts of the people. However this does not say that an abused spouse must stay in such a relationship because to divorce would be a sin. It does not suggest anything close to that. If a spouse or child is being abused for that there is no good excuse. But Moses gave the Israelites an out. If your husband is unfaithful, a divorce frees the wife to remarry. And vice versa with the wife being unfaithful. Remember too that in cases where someone commits adultery there is likely a death penalty coming. So a divorce may not be called for simply because the guilty party is taking a dirt nap after being rocked to sleep. How serious is Jesus's advice? He's telling the men that the question of marriage being permanent is truth and as God intended. So they say, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” And they were right. Then Jesus contemplates eunuchs. Eunuchs were men who were so dedicated to God that they had their sexual organs removed, and anesthesia had not been invented yet. And please understand that Jesus isn't advocating for sexual organs being removed He is saying, “men, if you can't resist the urge to commit adultery, you're better off not having it.” In other words, get a grip on yourself if you can't resist temptation, learn to control yourself as a single or as a married man. And yes, there are some people who God gifted with the talent and personality to remain single. Sadly, sometimes those people marry anyway in defiance of God's plans. And the beginning of trouble in their life occurs when they realize their mistakes. There are others who feel they are on the opposite end of that position, people who feel incomplete or lost if they aren't in a relationship. These people hop from partner to partner looking for the “one“ but never actually finding them. Then you have the partners that are never satisfied with their partner. Nothing is ever enough for them. Wives who would sacrifice their family for their own happiness while their man will sacrifice his happiness for his family. This seems to be a trend of modern women for whom the end goal in life is their happiness. Jesus Is saying that divorce is a horrible thing that was never supposed to exist. That for some it is better to castrate themselves than to marry. It should serve as a reminder that the decision to marry should not be taken lightly. [1] When Jesus had finished these words, He left Galilee and came into the region of Judea beyond the Jordan; [2] and large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there. [3] Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?” [4] And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, [5] and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? [6] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.” [7] They *said to Him, “Why, then, did Moses command to give her a certificate of divorce and send her away?” [8] He *said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. [9] And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” [10] The disciples *said to Him, “If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry.” [11] But He said to them, “Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given. [12] For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by people; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept this, let him accept it.”

The Advent Truth. I’m noticing a growing trend of people trying to point to the years of 2027-2033ish as the years Jesus may return. They don’t base this off the Bible, or if they try to, it’s based off a severe misunderstanding and even twisting of end time prophecy. But it’s based on things like calendars running out around the aforementioned years. The issue with this, is that it’s date setting, which the Bible strongly condemns. It’s also setting a time prophecy, which the Bible explicitly states there would be no more time prophecies fulfilled after 1844. As SDAs, I understand we want Jesus to return soon, especially those of us who believe 100% in the Sanctuary message. However, we must be grounded in the Word of God, not conspiracies. Consider: “The people will not have another message upon definite time. After this period of time… there can be no definite tracing of the prophetic time.” (7BC 971) And again: “Time has not been a test since 1844, and it will never again be a test.” (Early Writings, p. 74)

Still Relevant in 2026. Still God’s Truth. ✝️ If Hebrews 13:1–5 were written to Gen Z today, it might sound something like this: Don’t stop caring about people. In a world that often values followers over friendships, keep showing genuine love. Be kind, even when no one is watching. Don’t ignore people simply because they’re strangers or different from you. A small act of kindness can change someone’s life, and you never know how God may use your compassion. Don’t scroll past people who are hurting. Whether they’re struggling with depression, loneliness, poverty, illness, or injustice, don’t say, “That’s not my problem.” Put yourself in their shoes. Jesus calls us to carry one another’s burdens. Treat marriage with honor. It isn’t just another relationship you can walk away from when things become difficult. God designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant built on faithfulness, trust, and sacrificial love. Don’t let a culture of hookups, pornography, cheating, or casual sex convince you that purity no longer matters. God’s standards haven’t changed because society has. Don’t spend your life comparing yourself with everyone else. Social media will always show someone with a better job, a better body, a better car, a better vacation, or a better lifestyle. Chasing what everyone else has will only steal your peace. Learn to be grateful for what God has already given you. Most importantly, remember this promise: God has never ghosted you. Friends may leave. Relationships may end. People may disappoint you. But Jesus says, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” That promise is stronger than any trend, algorithm, or opinion. The world will constantly tell you to want more, be more, and chase more.
