The chapter records David’s sons, the kings who followed him, and the continuation of the royal family after the Babylonian exile. Although it consists largely of names, it carries a powerful message about God’s faithfulness to His covenant. The chapter begins with the sons born to David during his reign in Hebron and Jerusalem. David’s family history includes both blessing and brokenness. Some of his sons became connected with painful moments of rebellion, rivalry, and personal tragedy. Yet God’s redemptive purposes continued even through an imperfect household. The genealogy then follows the royal line through Solomon. God had promised David that his house, kingdom, and throne would be established according to His covenant purpose. Solomon became the immediate heir to that promise, but the covenant pointed beyond him toward a greater and eternal King. As the names of Judah’s kings are recorded, the chapter quietly summarizes generations of leadership. Some kings followed the Lord faithfully, while others led the nation into compromise and idolatry. Their reigns differed greatly, but God continued preserving the royal line. The covenant remained secure, not because every descendant was faithful, but because God was faithful. The genealogy continues through the Babylonian exile. Jerusalem had fallen, the temple had been destroyed, and the visible kingdom of David appeared to have ended. Yet the family line continued. Even in exile, God preserved the descendants through whom His promise would ultimately be fulfilled. This demonstrates that exile did not cancel God’s covenant. Human failure brought discipline and loss, but it could not overturn the Lord’s redemptive plan. What appeared to be the end of the kingdom was only another stage in God’s preparation for the coming Messiah. Theologically, 1 Chronicles 3 reveals God’s sovereign preservation of the Davidic line. Earthly kings failed, kingdoms declined, and the nation entered captivity, yet God’s promise remained alive. His covenant depended upon His own faithfulness rather than the strength or righteousness of human rulers. This chapter points directly to Jesus Christ, the promised Son of David. He is the true heir to David’s throne and the King whose reign will never end. The royal genealogy preserved through exile ultimately leads to Christ, in whom every promise concerning David’s kingdom finds complete fulfillment. For believers today, 1 Chronicles 3 reminds us that God’s promises remain secure even when circumstances appear hopeless. Human failure, national instability, and seasons of discipline cannot destroy what God has determined to accomplish. In Christ, we belong to an eternal kingdom ruled by the faithful King. We can trust that the God who preserved His promise through generations will remain faithful in every season of our lives. 1 Chronicles 4 God’s Grace Among Ordinary People 1 Chronicles 4 continues the genealogical record of Judah and also traces the descendants of Simeon. The chapter contains many names unfamiliar to modern readers, yet each one represents a person, family, occupation, and place remembered within the history of God’s covenant people. The chapter reminds us that God’s work is carried forward not only through famous kings and prophets but also through ordinary individuals and families. Among the genealogy appears the brief account of Jabez. His name is connected with pain, but his life is not controlled by that beginning. Jabez calls upon the God of Israel, asking for blessing, enlarged influence, divine guidance, and protection from evil. God grants his request. The account of Jabez does not teach that prayer is a formula for personal prosperity. Instead, it reveals a man who recognizes his complete dependence upon God. He does not rely upon his background, strength, or family position. He asks the Lord to direct his future and keep him from the evil that could bring further sorrow. His story demonstrates that a difficult beginning does not have to determine a person’s future. God’s grace is greater than the circumstances surrounding our birth, family history, or past experiences. When people seek Him sincerely, He is able to lead them beyond the limitations others may place upon them. The chapter also mentions craftsmen, potters, workers, leaders, and families who occupied particular towns and fulfilled practical responsibilities. These details reveal that ordinary work has value within God’s purposes. Service does not need to be publicly recognized to matter to the Lord. The descendants of Simeon are also described as seeking land for their flocks and defeating enemies who occupied the territory. Their account reflects the importance of courage, diligence, and acting upon the opportunities God provides. They did not remain passive but worked together to establish a place for their families. At the same time, the chapter must be understood within the unfolding history of Israel. These families were living within the covenant structure God had established for His people. Their victories, settlements, occupations, and family lines all formed part of the larger story leading toward the kingdom of David and ultimately toward Christ. Theologically, 1 Chronicles 4 reveals that God works through both prominent and ordinary people. He hears prayer, directs families, gives meaningful work, and uses faithful lives within His redemptive plan. The chapter also demonstrates that identity is not determined merely by pain or human circumstances but by God’s grace and calling. This chapter points to Christ, who brings people into a new identity that is not controlled by their past. Through Jesus, believers receive forgiveness, spiritual blessing, divine purpose, and deliverance from the power of evil. He enlarges our influence not for selfish ambition but so that our lives may display His grace and advance His kingdom. For believers today, 1 Chronicles 4 reminds us that no life is insignificant to God. He sees faithful service that others overlook, hears the prayers of those who depend upon Him, and can redeem even painful beginnings. In Christ, our past does not define our future. We are called to seek God’s hand upon our lives, serve faithfully wherever He places us, and use every opportunity for His glory and the advancement of His redemptive purposes. Ephesians 4 — Walking Worthy of the Calling in the Christ Ephesians chapter 4 marks the transition from the doctrinal truths of the first half of the letter to the practical application of those truths. Having explained all that believers possess through the Christ, the Son of God, Paul now calls them to live in a manner worthy of their calling. Christian living is the natural response to God's redemptive plan. The believer's conduct should reflect the grace, unity, and holiness that have already been provided through the Christ. The chapter begins with an appeal to walk worthy of the calling believers have received. This worthy walk is characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, and love. These qualities reflect the character of the Son of God and preserve the unity of His Church. The redemptive plan has brought believers into one family, and Christian living seeks to protect that unity through selfless love rather than personal ambition. Paul emphasizes that there is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father. This repeated emphasis on oneness reveals that unity is not created by believers but given by God through the Christ. The Son of God has already made His people one, and they are now called to live consistently with that reality. The chapter also teaches that the Christ has given spiritual gifts to His Church. These gifts are not for personal recognition but for equipping believers, strengthening the body, and advancing God's kingdom. The redemptive plan includes the growth and maturity of the Church as every believer faithfully serves according to the grace given by the Son of God. Christian living is never passive; every believer has a meaningful role in building up the body of Christ. As believers mature, they become stable in their faith and are no longer easily influenced by false teaching or spiritual deception. Instead, they grow by speaking the truth in love while remaining firmly connected to the Christ, who is the head of the Church. Spiritual maturity is measured not merely by knowledge but by increasing conformity to the character of the Son of God. Paul then contrasts the believer's new life with the old way of living. Those who do not know the Christ continue in spiritual darkness because they are separated from the life of God. But believers have learned a different way through the Son of God. The redemptive plan transforms the heart, leading to an entirely new pattern of living. Christian living involves putting away the old sinful lifestyle and embracing the new life created by God's grace. The chapter describes this transformation as putting off the old self and putting on the new self. This new life reflects God's righteousness and holiness because it is created through the work of the Christ. The change is not merely outward behavior but inward renewal as the believer's mind is continually shaped by God's truth. Paul then applies these principles to everyday relationships. Believers are called to speak truthfully, control anger, work honestly, use words that encourage rather than destroy, show kindness, forgive one another, and avoid attitudes that grieve the Holy Spirit. Every area of life is to reflect the grace believers have received through the Son of God. Christian living is demonstrated not only in public worship but also in ordinary conversations, relationships, and daily choices. The chapter concludes with one of its greatest exhortations: believers are to forgive one another because God has forgiven them in the Christ. Forgiveness is not based on human merit but on the immeasurable grace demonstrated through the cross. The redemptive plan continually calls believers to extend to others the same mercy they have received from the Son of God. Throughout Ephesians chapter 4, the Christ remains the center of the believer's new life. He unites His Church, equips His people, transforms their character, and provides the perfect example of humility, truth, and forgiveness. Every aspect of Christian living flows from the new identity believers have received through Him. For believers today, this chapter reminds us that our conduct should reflect our calling in the Christ. Christian living is marked by humility, unity, spiritual maturity, and continual transformation. We are called to leave behind the old way of life and daily put on the character of the Son of God. Daily Bible Lesson WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SEALED BY GOD? The Bible describes a final group of people who receive the seal of God before the closing events of earth’s history. Revelation 7:3 “Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” The seal is placed in the forehead — representing the mind, character, and settled decisions of the individual. God’s people are not simply convinced of the truth. They have allowed Christ to complete His work in them. Hebrews 8:10 “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” God’s law is no longer merely something written on stone. It has been written into their hearts and reflected in their lives. Through complete surrender to Christ, sin has been overcome and His character has been reproduced in them. Revelation 14:5 describes this final generation: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” They have reached the point where they would rather die than knowingly sin against God. They are settled into the truth — both intellectually and spiritually — so completely that they cannot be moved. This is why Revelation 14:12 says: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” The sealing is therefore more than understanding the Sabbath. It is the finishing of Christ’s work in His people. His law is written in their hearts. His character is reflected in their lives. Sin no longer has dominion over them. They stand fully surrendered and faithful to God. Christ is preparing a people who will reflect His character completely before He returns. The question is not only: “Do I know the truth?” The deeper question is: “Am I allowing Christ to reproduce His character in me?”

September 1st, 2026 Read; Philippians 3:20 Whether or not you possess a passport, every Christian holds a deeper citizenship in heaven. Our earthly nations, languages, and cultures remain meaningful, but none can claim the allegiance that belongs to Jesus. In Christ, believers separated by borders and circumstances are members of one household and await the same Savior. You may therefore share a stronger spiritual bond with a Christian whose daily life looks entirely different from yours than with a neighbor who does not confess Christ. Heavenly citizenship teaches us to honor earthly neighbors while recognizing brothers and sisters throughout the world. Prayer Glorious God and Almighty Father, I eagerly await the day when people from every nation, tribe, and language gather around Your throne in joyful worship. Even now, unite Your people in Christ across every border and make our fellowship a faithful glimpse of the kingdom to come. Lord Jesus, come. In Your precious name, I pray. Amen.

MAIN TEXT: Rev 14:1, 3-5 Rev 14:1 — Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000 having His Father's Name written on their foreheads Rev 14:3 — Redeemed from earth Rev 14:4 — These are ones who were not defiled... for they are virgins. These are ones who follow Lamb wherever He goes. Redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to Lamb Rev 14:5 — And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before throne of God This is standard of final salvation — Pure & blameless. POINT 1: HOW DO YOU HAVE THIS? NOT BY YOUR EFFORTS BUT BY GOD'S REDEMPTIVE GRACE OF JESUS' BLOOD AND OUR FAITHFULNESS Eph 2:8-9 — For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is gift of God, not of works Titus 2:11-12 — Grace of God... teaches us to deny ungodliness Eph 1:7 — In Him we have redemption through His blood according to riches of His grace Rev 17:14 — Those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful Rev 2:10 — Be faithful until death and I will give you crown of life Rev 14:4 — These are ones who follow Lamb wherever He goes — Faithfulness Not effort = Rom 9:16 — Not of him who wills, nor runs, but of God who shows mercy — But grace + your faithfulness to follow. POINT 2: WE ARE IN FLESH THOUGH SAVED, LED BY SPIRIT — BATTLE BETWEEN FLESH & SPIRIT EVERYDAY Rom 8:9 — You are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed Spirit of God dwells in you Gal 5:16-17 — Walk in Spirit, and you shall not fulfill lust of flesh. For flesh lusts against Spirit, and Spirit against flesh; and these are contrary to one another Rom 7:21-23 — Battle in members Gal 5:24 — Those who are Christ's have crucified flesh with its passions You are saved, spirit-led, but battle is manifested everyday in our lives. POINT 3: YOU MUST KEEP A CLEAN RACE UPTO END — STARTED BY GRACE AND FAITH UNTIL FINAL SALVATION AS PURE & BLAMELESS LIKE 144000 Heb 12:1 — Let us run with endurance race set before us 2 Tim 4:7 — I have finished race, I have kept faith 1 Cor 9:24-27 — Run to obtain, bring body into subjection Phil 1:6 — He who has begun good work will complete it Eph 2:10 — Created for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them Matt 24:13 — He who endures to end shall be saved Rev 14:5 — Without fault before throne — Eph 1:4 — Holy and without blame — Jude 1:24 — Present you faultless You started by grace and faith — Gal 3:3 — Having begun in Spirit — You must keep clean race upto end. POINT 4: BRETHREN THIS ISN'T EASY BUT BY PRAYER AND WORD BECOME IT, BECOME PURE 1 Tim 4:5 — For it is sanctified by word of God and prayer John 17:17 — Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth Ps 119:9 — How shall young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word Ps 119:11 — Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You Eph 5:26 — Washing of water by word John 15:3 — You are already clean because of word Word + Prayer = Purity. That is formula for 144000 formation. POINT 5: IN THIS LAST AGE WITH THAT BATTLE — TRUE REPENTANCE & BLOOD WASH IS CRUCIAL True repentance = turning away from sin or evil you did & don't do it again. POINT 8: YOU NEED TO PRAY THE WORD THAT CLEANSES US — DAVID SAYS HIS WORD KEEPS ME BLAMELESS AND IN WALK OF RIGHT PATH Ps 119:9, 11 — Cleanses way, keeps from sin Ps 18:23 — I was also blameless before Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity Ps 119:133 — Direct my steps by Your word Ps 37:31 — Law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide Josh 1:8 — Meditate in word day and night... then you will make your way prosperous Pray the word — Jer 23:29 — Is not My word like fire? — It burns impurity. POINT 9: ENSURE YOU BELIEVE IN THY PRAYING — PRAYER IN FAITH = WORKS, NOT FAITH ALONE — BELIEVE YOU HAVE RECEIVED — SPEAK THAT YOU BELIEVE 2 Cor 4:13 — We having same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak Mark 11:23-24 — Whoever says... and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore... whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them James 2:17, 22, 26 — Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead... Faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect John 6:29 — This is work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent — John 6:28-29 — What shall we do, that we may work works of God? Believing = works of faith. When you pray minus faith, and don't see it, this might fail your prayer. James 1:6-7 — Let him ask in faith, with no doubting... let not that man suppose he will receive anything from Lord Heb 11:6 — Without faith it is impossible to please Him Matt 21:22 — Whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive So in this, your prayer is sealed with faith & works. Isa 43:26 — Put Me in remembrance; state your case Job 22:28 — You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you Rom 10:10 — With heart one believes unto righteousness, and with mouth confession is made unto salvation CONCLUSION & ALTAR CALL PRAYER: Therefore — Believe = works of faith — John 6:29 — And you will receive, it will be done unto you — Mark 11:24 Today we choose to be pure & blameless like 144000 — Not by efforts but by grace through faithfulness — Turning, washed by Blood, avoiding sin, by word & prayer, believing we have received purity. 1 John 3:3 — Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure Let us pray Rev 14:1-5 prayer we made — And believe we have received it — Amen.

Revelation 5:1 AND I saw lying on the open hand of Him Who was seated on the throne a scroll (book) written within and on the back, closed and sealed with seven seals; [Isa. 29:11; Ezek. 2:9, 10; Dan. 12:4.] Revelation 5:2 And I saw a strong angel announcing in a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll? And [who is entitled and deserves and is morally fit] to break its seals? Revelation 5:3 And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth [in the realm of the dead, Hades] was able to open the scroll or to take a [single] look at its contents. Revelation 5:4 And I wept audibly and bitterly because no one was found fit to open the scroll or to inspect it. Revelation 5:5 Then one of the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] said to me, Stop weeping! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root (Source) of David, has won (has overcome and conquered)! He can open the scroll and break its seven seals! [Gen. 49:9, 10; Isa. 11:1, 10; Rev. 22:16.] Revelation 5:6 And there between the throne and the four living creatures (beings) and among the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God [the sevenfold Holy Spirit] Who have been sent [on duty far and wide] into all the earth. [Isa. 53:7; Zech. 3:8, 9; 4:10.] Revelation 5:7 He then went and took the scroll from the right hand of Him Who sat on the throne. Revelation 5:8 And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] prostrated themselves before the Lamb. Each was holding a harp (lute or guitar), and they had golden bowls full of incense (fragrant spices and gums for burning), which are the prayers of God's people (the saints). Revelation 5:9 And [now] they sing a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the scroll and to break the seals that are on it, for You were slain (sacrificed), and with Your blood You purchased men unto God from every tribe and language and people and nation. [Ps. 33:3.] Revelation 5:10 And You have made them a kingdom (royal race) and priests to our God, and they shall reign [as kings] over the earth! [Exod. 19:6; Isa. 61:6.] Revelation 5:11 Then I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels on every side of the throne and of the living creatures and the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin], and they numbered ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands, [Dan. 7:10.] Revelation 5:12 Saying in a loud voice, Deserving is the Lamb, Who was sacrificed, to receive all the power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and majesty (glory, splendor) and blessing! Revelation 5:13 And I heard every created thing in heaven and on earth and under the earth [in Hades, the place of departed spirits] and on the sea and all that is in it, crying out together, To Him Who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be ascribed the blessing and the honor and the majesty (glory, splendor) and the power (might and dominion) forever and ever (through the eternities of the eternities)! SERMON: WHY SINNERS, UNBELIEVERS REFUSE THE GOSPEL — 2 COR 4:3-4 — LAST WARNING OF THIS LAST AGE — THROUGH VISIONS GIVEN TO REAGAN WITNESS — Acts 26:16 Text: 2 Cor 4:3-4 — But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of gospel of glory of Christ, who is image of God, should shine on them. 1. WHY THEY REFUSE GOSPEL — IT IS INFLUENCE OF SATAN Gospel is not hard — But Satan — god of this age — has blinded minds — 2 Cor 4:4 How does this blinding show? — In what you see today: Mocking: When you preach Jesus is way — They laugh — 2 Pet 3:3 — Scoffers will come in last days walking according to own lusts — Ps 1:1 — Sits in seat of scornful — That mocking is not just man — It's Satan influencing to despise truth. Persecution: They insult, chase, want to beat witness — John 15:18-20 — If world hates you, you know it hated Me before it hated you — 2 Tim 3:12 — All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution — Satan uses people to fight gospel. Unbelief & Compromise from Truth: Sinner says "I will repent tomorrow" — Compromising church says "We love Jesus but we still keep sin" — Unbeliever — Muslim, etc — Says "There are many ways" — 2 Cor 4:3 — Gospel veiled to those perishing — Rom 1:18 — Unrighteousness suppresses truth — This is veil of Satan. Why? Because Prov 29:18 — Where there is no vision, people perish — Hos 4:6 — My people destroyed for lack of knowledge — Satan puts veil so they cannot see light — John 8:12 — I am light of world 2. Daily Bible Lesson WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SEALED BY GOD? The Bible describes a final group of people who receive the seal of God before the closing events of earth’s history. Revelation 7:3 “Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.” The seal is placed in the forehead — representing the mind, character, and settled decisions of the individual. God’s people are not simply convinced of the truth. They have allowed Christ to complete His work in them. Hebrews 8:10 “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” God’s law is no longer merely something written on stone. It has been written into their hearts and reflected in their lives. Through complete surrender to Christ, sin has been overcome and His character has been reproduced in them. Revelation 14:5 describes this final generation: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” They have reached the point where they would rather die than knowingly sin against God. They are settled into the truth — both intellectually and spiritually — so completely that they cannot be moved. This is why Revelation 14:12 says: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” The sealing is therefore more than understanding the Sabbath. It is the finishing of Christ’s work in His people. His law is written in their hearts. His character is reflected in their lives. Sin no longer has dominion over them. They stand fully surrendered and faithful to God. Christ is preparing a people who will reflect His character completely before He returns. The question is not only: “Do I know the truth?” The deeper question is: “Am I allowing Christ to reproduce His character in me?”

Monday, 31st August, 2026 TITLE: "FINISH STRONG: PRESS TOWARD THE PRIZE" ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S) 2 Timothy 4:7–8 (KJV) "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." Philippians 3:14 (KJV) "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." QUOTE TO REFLECT ON “Do not stop because the journey is difficult; keep pressing until you reach God's appointed finish line.” DAY'S REFLECTION Life is not only about how we start; it is also about how we finish. Paul, looking back over his life and ministry, confidently declared, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” The word “fight” reminds us that the Christian journey requires spiritual determination. There will be opposition, temptation, disappointment, discouragement, and seasons when continuing becomes difficult. But a believer must not surrender the faith because the road becomes challenging. “I have finished my course” speaks of completing the assignment God gave him. Every person has responsibilities, opportunities, and purposes that God expects them to fulfil. We should not spend our lives comparing our race with someone else's. Run your course faithfully. Paul also says, “I have kept the faith.” To keep means to preserve, guard, and remain faithful. Circumstances may change, people may disappoint us, and prayers may take longer than expected, but our confidence in God must remain. Philippians 3:14 adds, “I press toward the mark.” To press means to pursue with determination and earnest effort. Paul was not looking backward at past achievements; he was moving forward toward “the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Life experience teaches us that many people begin with enthusiasm but struggle to finish. A runner may start strongly but victory requires endurance until the end. Likewise, our Christian journey requires consistency—not merely occasional passion. As we come to the end of August, take a moment to reflect. There may have been victories, failures, delays, disappointments, and answered prayers. Whatever happened, do not stop moving forward. Learn from yesterday, remain faithful today, and press toward what God has ahead. Paul's greatest reward was not earthly recognition but “a crown of righteousness” from the Lord. This reminds us that faithful service to God is never wasted. Even when people do not notice our sacrifices, God sees them. Therefore, finish strong. Keep your faith. Keep your integrity. Keep serving. Keep praying. Keep pursuing Christ. The goal is not merely to begin well, but to finish faithfully. God rewards faithful endurance. Keep your eyes on Christ, who is the author and finisher of our faith. EVERYDAY ACTION Leave yesterday's failures behind. Identify one goal God has placed before you. Take one purposeful step toward it. Refuse to give up when difficulties arise. Keep your eyes on Christ. PRAYER Heavenly Father, give me grace to remain faithful, endure every challenge, and finish the course You have given me. Help me press forward without giving up until I receive the prize of Your calling. In Jesus' name, Amen. DECLARATION I will not give up. Daily devotion for August 30th The Unequal Yoke Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women? Nehemiah 13:27 The nations among whom Israel was called to live were unusually degenerate. They practiced public lewdness. Their immorality had spread diseases among their people. They killed their children by throwing them alive into furnaces of fire in worship to their god Molech. To protect the Israelites from these dangerous practices, God had told them not to intermarry with these peoples. Though intermarriage might look right and proper to us, it would introduce to the Israelites attitudes and concepts that would ultimately undermine their faith and destroy them and their nation. This is what happened. Though Solomon, David's own son, was said to be the wisest man who ever lived, he contracted over a thousand marriages with foreign women who brought their gods with them and eventually introduced pagan practices into the worship of Israel. By the time Solomon's son came to the throne, the nation was so divided it could no longer exist as one but was separated into two. So this was a very wise pledge to make. This command is actually repeated in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, not concerning racial distinctions, but religious. He says, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Many Christians have ignored that to their own detriment by intermarrying with others of a different faith. They have thereby so undermined their own faith that evil in many ways has ultimately crept in and destroyed their marriages. There is no guarantee that if you marry a Christian you are going to have a happy marriage, because there are other principles involved. But it is much more likely that two Christians will be happy together because there are principles and practices taught to us in the Word that make for happiness in marriage. It is certain that if you disobey this command, however, you are opening the door to much heartache, struggle, and misery. There are passages designed to help people who have disobeyed this principle because God is very practical and merciful. He recognizes that for various reasons, intermarriage may occur. There are guidelines to help handle those situations. But by and large this is practical wisdom that needs to be adhered to today. Marry those who share the same faith you have, because faith is the basis for all of life. Lord, the guidelines You have given for living are good and right. Thank You that You love enough to protect me from that which ultimately would bring hurt and misery to me and to others.
