The believer's calling is determined by God's purpose rather than outward conditions. Paul explains that God revealed a mystery that had not been fully understood in previous generations. The redemptive plan has always pointed toward this unity, but it is now fully revealed through the gospel. The redemptive plan is not only about knowing truth intellectually but about experiencing the transforming love of the Son of God personally. Paul continues by praying that believers would increasingly comprehend the vastness of the love of the Christ. His love surpasses human understanding because it extends beyond every limitation of time, distance, and human ability. Christian living grows stronger as believers continually discover more of His love. The Son of God never ceases to reveal the depth of His grace to those who seek Him. The Lord is able to accomplish far more than believers could ever ask or imagine because His power is continually at work within them. Throughout Ephesians chapter 3, the Christ stands at the center of God's revealed mystery, the unity of the Church, the believer's confidence before God, and the limitless love that transforms every heart. Everything God has planned from eternity finds its fulfillment through His beloved Son. For believers today, this chapter reminds us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. We are called to grow deeper in our understanding of His grace, stronger in our dependence upon His Spirit, and more confident in His power. He watches over, guards, preserves, maintains His Words (not to hold it but) to fulfill it. He doesn't just fulfill his promises, HE FULFILLS HIS COVENANT. So what is a covenant? A Covenant is a solemn, binding agreement between two or more parties. When you become born again, you are automatically adopted into a covenant family - you become a covenant child of God. But that covenant is a BASIC COVENANT. IT COMES WITH BASIC RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES. IT IS LEGAL AND BINDING ON GOD AS REGARDS CERTAIN PROMISES TO YOU. BUT IT IS BASIC COVENANT. Many believers stop at this "basic" level of the covenant. So they get the basic provisions and promises in the covenant package. But there is so much more. IT COMES WITH A COVENANT WALK. You MUST strike a personal covenant with God before certain covenant promises and provisions can become accessible to you. Everyone can proclaim: I cannot be poor, yet remain poor. But those who walk in the covenant of this scripture don't just proclaim it, they experience the reality of that scripture. You know why? It is because that scripture has changed from just a promise to a covenant - it is now adopted and enacted, and binding on God to fulfill. How do you enter into a covenant walk with God? Monday Encouragement — Redeeming the Time Blessings, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. It is remarkable how quickly this year is passing. Another month is ending, and it seems only yesterday that we began this year wondering what the months ahead would bring. At the same time, world events appear to become more extreme with each passing day. Wars and conflicts continue, natural disasters bring suffering, political and economic uncertainty trouble nations, and changes in our society seem to come faster than we can comprehend them. Yet none of this should cause the child of God to lose hope. While the world changes rapidly, our sovereign God never changes. He is not surprised by today’s events, nor is He uncertain about tomorrow. History is not moving beyond His control. Every nation and every generation remains under His sovereign authority. “For I am the LORD, I change not.” — Malachi 3:6 The speed with which this year is passing should also remind us of something very personal: our time is precious. God has given each of us a limited number of days to serve Him. We cannot recover yesterday, and none of us is promised tomorrow. But by God’s grace, we have been given today. Scripture therefore tells us: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16 So perhaps the question for us this Monday is not simply, “What will happen in the world this week?” A better question is: “Lord, how would You have me serve You today?” There are people who need encouragement. There are believers who need strengthening. There are suffering people who need compassion. There are men and women who still need to hear the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We cannot solve every problem confronting this world. But we know the One who holds this world in His hands. Therefore, let us not waste our precious days consumed by fear, anger, or endless speculation about tomorrow. Let us pray, stand firmly upon God’s Word, proclaim Christ faithfully, love our neighbors, serve those in need, and use every opportunity God provides for His glory. The year is passing quickly. The world is changing rapidly. But Jesus Christ is still Lord. His Word is still truth. His Gospel still saves. And our mission has not changed. May our sovereign Lord guide every step we take this week and help us faithfully redeem the time He has graciously given us. Serving Christ Together for His Glory Alone. Soli Deo Gloria.

Guidelines for living. August 31st, 2026 What is a Creed? For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 The industrialist Henry Ford used to say that he knew the Church was a divine institution because, contended Ford, no other organization so poorly organized and run would have survived for 2000 years. Going beyond the satire of what he said, there is a measure of truth in his statement. After the resurrection, the followers of Jesus were left without an organization, with no financial base, and really without an organized plan for survival and growth. They had no buildings, no leader, and no game plan. It was almost fifteen years before Saul - known to history as the Apostle Paul - came on the scene. What held them together? What gave them cohesiveness? John, one of the youngest of the Twelve, partly answered that question at the end of his life. He wrote, "We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us" (1 John 1:3). Simply put, two things were the basis of agreement and fellowship: what they had seen, and what they had heard, which began to be passed from generation to generation. One of the challenges confronting the church is this old issue: What brings us together and what keeps us together? Music won't do it anymore; neither will a unified translation of the Bible, though the Bible itself is our age-abiding source of authority and belief. But is there more? Shortly after the resurrection of Christ, men and women from different parts of the world began asking, "What do we really believe?" and "Is it the same everywhere?" The answers to those questions are contained in what are called the creeds of the church. Like you, perhaps, in the early years of my Christian experience, I thought of creeds and statements of faith as things that were rather dull and boring, of a historical nature. I wanted life and liberty. But eventually I came to appreciate the fact that the historical creeds of the church are something like the steel or iron bands that held the staves of an old-fashioned wooden barrel together. Remember the old wooden barrels of bygone years that held cider and apples and that sort of produce? Around the world there are different groups with different cultures and sometimes differing views of the truth of God's Word. They are much like the staves of a barrel, but the concise statements of creeds are like the iron bands that hold it all together. Within is the treasure of what God has revealed in His Word. In an age of diversity and fragmentation, we need to know what is important and why, which means taking a look at what has been believed from the days of the Early Church to the present. The earliest creed or statement of faith was included in Paul's letter to the Corinthians about 56 AD. He wrote, "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Pretty simple: Christ died, He was buried, He rose again the third day. Over a period of years, especially when someone came along with strange or heretical beliefs, Christians said, "Whoa! Wait a minute! We don't believe that!" and they called church councils who took a hard look at what was commonly believed to be true, and the statement of faith expanded. Usually, the councils of the church simply recognized what God's Holy Spirit had universally impressed upon people. What do you believe, anyway? Devotion: Isaiah 40:31 I In our desperation we need to remember that even the demons fear God, so when we walk in the shadow of the Almighty, they cannot touch us. We also should keep in mind that God, while always in attendance at our side, allows us free will. Sometimes it is our very own human choices that bring trouble knocking at our doors and by suffering through difficult times, God can teach us to rely on Him more AND He can use us as witnesses to help others battling their own demons. Friends, we can be powerful vessels for God, if we can see purpose in our pain and if we make the wiser choice of standing firm in faith despite whatever situation may arise. You may wonder how you can receive God’s power so that He can work through you: Micah 3:8: “But as for me, the LORD fills me with his spirit and power, and gives me a sense of justice and the courage to tell the people of Israel what their sins are.” Acts 2:17#: “I will pour out my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your young men will see visions, and your old men will have dreams.” You will indeed soar like an eagle if you receive in the Spirit of God. He will strengthen you in tough times, He will open doors for you to spread His word to the sinful world. Keep the faith, be steadfast and remember, all things in life work together for the glory of God. Now is the time to accept the Lord as your Saviour, for in Him alone lays your victory over your unfulfilled and empty life. Are you ready to choose Him above all earthly riches, all popularity and all status on earth? You see, the only thing that is important to God is your heart, so ask yourself this question: “Who am I striving to impress today? The problem was not simply tradition itself. Traditions can have value, but they become dangerous when human practices replace God's truth. As we come to the final day of August, this verse invites us to examine our hearts. Are there habits we have become comfortable with that God is asking us to change? Are there opinions, traditions, expectations, or human approval that have become more important to us than obedience to God's Word? Christianity is not merely about outward religious activities.
