Philosophers have wrestled with it. Scientists have investigated it. Religions have attempted to explain it. Kings, prophets, scholars, and ordinary men have all sought answers to it. Yet the answer is far simpler than many imagine. The primary purpose of creation is praise. The ultimate reason for existence is God's pleasure. The Psalmist settles the matter with divine simplicity: “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” — Psalm 150:6 Notice the scope of that command. Not some things. Not holy things only. Not angels alone. Not ministers only. Not prophets exclusively. Not churchgoers alone. Everything that has breath. If it breathes, it was designed to praise. Likewise, a man disconnected from worship will eventually become disconnected from purpose. The Book of Revelation provides another astonishing insight: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” — Revelation 4:11 Pause and think about that. You were not created primarily for money. You were not created primarily for fame. You were not created primarily for power. You were not created primarily for status.
