READ WITH ME – DAY 18 Topic: Peer Pressure Key Verse: "Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits.'" — 1 Corinthians 15:33 Today's Reflection As a young person, you will face pressure from the people around you. Your friends can influence the way you think, speak, behave, and make decisions. Peer pressure is not always obvious. Sometimes it sounds like, "Everyone is doing it," or "Don't be too serious." You may be pressured to cheat, lie, disobey your parents, watch ungodly content, or compromise your values just to fit in. But remember: the desire to belong should never be greater than your desire to please God. Daniel and his friends lived in a society that did not honour God, yet they chose to remain faithful. They encouraged one another to stand for what was right, even when doing so was difficult. The friends you spend the most time with will influence the person you become. Choose friends who encourage you to pray, study God's Word, make good choices, and grow closer to Christ. And don't forget—you should also strive to be the kind of friend who leads others toward God. Today's Takeaway: Choose friends who strengthen your faith, not those who pressure you to compromise it. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and desiring the best for my life. Give me wisdom to choose friends who will encourage me to follow You. Help me to stand for what is right when I am under pressure. READ WITH ME – DAY 17 Topic: Learning from Godly Parents Key Verse: "My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother." — Proverbs 1:8 Today's Reflection One of God's greatest gifts to a child is the blessing of godly parents. Parents may not be perfect, but when they fear God and seek to raise their children according to His Word, their guidance can become a great source of wisdom. The Bible encourages us to listen to the instruction of both our father and mother. Their correction, advice, discipline, prayers, and example can help prepare us for the future. Sometimes, young people see correction as punishment or advice as interference. But godly parents correct because they care. They have experience that we may not yet have, and their desire should be to help us become the people God created us to be. This does not mean every parent is perfect. Parents can make mistakes too. But instead of focusing only on their weaknesses, learn to appreciate the godly lessons and sacrifices they make for you. If your parents are not yet walking with God, do not be discouraged. Pray for them, honour them, and continue to follow Christ. God can use your life as a light in your family. Today's Takeaway: God often speaks words of wisdom through godly parents. A wise child listens, learns, and grows. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the parents and guardians You have placed in my life. Key Verse: "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." — 1 Corinthians 11:1 Today's Reflection Everyone has someone they admire—a parent, teacher, pastor, friend, athlete, celebrity, or social media influencer. The people we admire can greatly influence the person we become. The Bible teaches us to be careful about who we choose as role models. Paul said, "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." He was not asking people to follow him instead of Jesus. He was pointing them to Christ through his own life. A good role model is someone whose life points you closer to God, not further away from Him. Before choosing someone as your role model, ask yourself: • Does this person's life honour God? • Do they encourage honesty, humility, kindness, purity, and self-control? • Will following their example help me grow closer to Christ? Fame, beauty, wealth, talent, and popularity do not automatically mean someone is worth following. What matters most is character. Remember, you are also becoming a role model to someone else. Your words, choices, attitude, and lifestyle may influence people around you. May your greatest desire be to become more like Jesus. When Christ is your perfect example, you will always be walking in the right direction. Today's Takeaway: Choose role models who point you to Christ, because the direction of the person you follow often becomes the direction of your own life. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the perfect example in Jesus Christ. Help me choose role models who love You and live according to Your Word. READ WITH ME – DAY 15 Topic: Dare to Be Daniel Key Verse: "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank." — Daniel 1:8 Today's Reflection Every day, we are faced with choices. Some seem small, while others shape the course of our lives. Will we follow God or follow the crowd? Will we stand for what is right, or compromise just to be accepted? Daniel faced the same challenge. Though he was taken captive to Babylon and surrounded by a culture that opposed God, he made a decision before temptation came—he purposed in his heart to obey God. His conviction was not based on convenience or popularity. It was built on a deep commitment to God. Today, peer pressure may not come through a king's table, but it comes in many forms. Friends may encourage dishonesty, immorality, gossip, cheating, or other choices that dishonour God. Like Daniel, we must remember that pleasing God is more important than pleasing people. Standing alone is not always easy, but you are never alone when God is with you. Daniel's faithfulness brought God's favour, wisdom, and promotion because he refused to compromise. Purpose in your heart today to honour God in your words, your choices, your relationships, and your lifestyle. A heart fully surrendered to God cannot easily be pulled away by the pressure of the world. Today's Takeaway: A person who has already purposed in his or her heart to obey God will not easily be persuaded to compromise when temptation comes. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of Daniel. Give me the courage to stand for You even when it is difficult. Help me not to follow the crowd or compromise my faith because of fear or pressure. Fill my heart with a deep love for Your Word and the strength to remain faithful in every situation. READ WITH ME – DAY 14 Topic: King Josiah Was Eight Key Verse: "Josiah was eight years old when he became king... And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left." — 2 Kings 22:1–2 Today's Reflection Many people believe greatness begins in adulthood, but the life of King Josiah proves otherwise. At just eight years old, he became king of Judah, and instead of following the sinful examples around him, he chose to follow God. Josiah did not grow up in a godly environment. His father and grandfather had led the nation into idolatry, yet he refused to let his background determine his future. He made a personal decision to obey the Lord. As he grew older, his love for God became even more evident. He ordered the repair of the temple, and when God's Word was discovered and read to him, he humbled himself, repented, and led the nation back to God. Josiah's story reminds us that God is not looking for the oldest or the most experienced person. He is looking for hearts that are willing to obey Him. No matter your age or background, you can choose to stand for what is right and become a godly influence to others. Today's Takeaway: God is not looking for the oldest person in the room. He is looking for the heart that is willing to obey Him. Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the example of King Josiah. Give me a heart that loves Your Word and obeys You, even when those around me choose a different path. Help me to be a godly influence wherever I am and use my life for Your glory.
