That year, they reasoned, would signify the passing of a thousand years since the crucifixion and resurrection, and surely the Lord would come back for His own by then! (And if you are tempted to do the same, remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:36, that “no one” knows the “day and hour” of Christ’s return.) But just because the world doesn’t come stamped with a specific expiration date does not mean it’s impossible to discern the “signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3). One key factor is the presence of Rome at both ends of Jesus’ ministry. While the Savior was on earth, it was the pagan Roman Empire that captured and killed Him. Jesus gave up His life to atone for our sins, yes, but it was through the agency of the Roman state that this took place. Daniel identifies Rome as the “little horn” that will persecute the saints. And Rome is still a religious-civil power, one that has sought “to change times and law” (Daniel 7:25) and one that has interposed a manmade system of religion that puts other sinful humans in the role of mediator—a role belonging to Christ alone. This final Rome will also seek to compel obedience to its religion by aligning with worldly governments. Those who resist will face intense pressure to revert, and if they continue to resist, they will be confronted with the very real possibility of martyrdom. These will indeed be perilous times for millions of God’s faithful, the ones called a “remnant” people (Romans 9:27). But Jesus promised “he who endures to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 24:13). Now, then, is the time to study and pray, so that you’ll be ready for that great and terrible day. Apply It: Jesus told his followers to “watch” (Mark 13:37). Keep looking out—and always keep looking up! This legal status protected him from unlawful punishment and allowed him to continue fulfilling God's mission. Paul wisely used his earthly citizenship without allowing it to become the focus of his identity. While earthly citizenship has value, Scripture teaches that every believer's greatest identity is found in belonging to the kingdom of God. Through faith in Jesus Christ, we have become citizens of heaven, called to represent our King wherever we live. For believers today, this passage reminds us that our security is not found in earthly privileges but in our relationship with Christ. God's Favor Meets Faithful Obedience Scripture Ruth 2:12 (NKJV) The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge. God's Providence in Ordinary Moments Ruth 2 beautifully reveals how God works behind the scenes to accomplish His purposes. After arriving in Bethlehem with Naomi, Ruth did not wait for life to become easier. Instead, she went into the fields to glean grain, following God's provision for the poor. Her willingness to work demonstrated both humility and faith. The Bible says that Ruth "happened" to come to the field belonging to Boaz. From a human perspective it appeared to be a coincidence, but from God's perspective it was divine providence. The Lord was quietly directing every step of Ruth's journey, leading her exactly where she needed to be. Boaz noticed Ruth's character before he noticed anything else. He had already heard about her faithfulness to Naomi and her decision to leave her homeland in order to trust the God of Israel. Rather than taking advantage of her vulnerability, Boaz showed compassion, generosity, protection, and kindness. He instructed his workers to leave extra grain for her and invited her to eat with his servants. Boaz's blessing in verse 12 reveals the heart of the chapter. Ruth had placed herself under the wings of the Lord for refuge. She had left behind everything familiar to trust the living God, and God was already providing for her through His unseen hand. Ruth could not yet see the full plan that God was unfolding. She simply remained faithful in the responsibilities before her. Yet every ordinary act of obedience became part of God's extraordinary plan of redemption. Believers often wonder whether God is working when life seems ordinary. Ruth 2 reminds us that God's providence is frequently hidden within everyday moments. The conversations we have, the places we go, the work we faithfully perform, and the people we meet may all be part of His greater purpose. God's guidance is often seen more clearly in hindsight than in the moment. Our responsibility is not to understand every detail of His plan but to remain faithful where He has placed us. Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 28 août 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar. I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. (Isaiah 44:22) The forgiveness of debts One morning, an English landlord in the village belonging to his estate put up a notice. The villagers, astonished, read: “Anyone who comes to me before noon with a complete list of his debts will receive cancellation of debts.”  The notice caused a sensation. Many doubted it. Others mocked it. As the morning progressed, the crowd in front of the notice grew larger. Yet no one dared to approach the landlord, fearing ridicule. Around 11 o’clock, someone finally gathered the courage, despite being jeered at by the crowd. He was received by the landlord who acknowledged that he was forgiven of his debts. Then, he was led into a side room to wait until noon.  Outside, there was much speculation about whether the landlord had kept his promise. At noon, the debt-free man emerged joyfully. Many now tried to seek forgiveness of their debts as well. But it was too late.  This story reminds us of the debt that every person owes to his Creator: the debt of sin. We are insolvent, but God offers us His forgiveness through faith in Christ, without forcing anyone to do so.  The right time to receive God’s complete forgiveness is now and today! Unfortunately, many people don’t accept this offer. Why? Perhaps because they find it difficult to take God at His word, to trust Him, or to resist the opinions of others and entrust themselves to God despite ridicule.   “Now is the favourable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) Today’s reading: Judges 1:16-26 – 2 Corinthians 1:8-14

Wigglesworth’s Birth and Boyhood: The Salvation Army When I was sixteen years of age the Salvation Army opened up a work in Bradford. I delighted to be with these earnest Salvation Army people. It was laid very deeply upon me to fast and pray for the salvation of souls in those days, and every week we saw scores of sinners yielding their hearts to Christ. In the mill where I worked there was a godly man belonging to the Plymouth Brethren. He was a steam-fitter. I was given to him as a helper and he taught me how to do plumbing work. He talked to me about water baptism and its meaning. I can remember that he said to me: “If you will obey the Lord in this, you do not know what He may have for you.” I gladly obeyed the Word of the Lord to be buried with Him in baptism unto death and come forth from that symbolic watery grave to a newness of life in God. I was about seventeen at that time. It was this good man who taught me about the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus. Again and again when I had a sense that I had failed God, I would be troubled with the thought that the Lord would come and I would not be ready to meet Him. From time to time it was a relief to me to go to work and find this godly man there. Then I knew the Lord had not come in the night and left me behind. I continued with the Salvation Army because it seemed to me they had more power in their ministry than anybody else at that time. We used to have all nights of prayer. Many would be laid out under the power of the Spirit, sometimes for as long as twenty-four hours at a time. We called that the Baptism in the Spirit in those days. Those early Salvationists had great power and it was manifested in their testimony and in their lives. We would join together and claim in faith fifty or a hundred souls every week and know that we would get them. Alas, today many are not laying themselves out for soul-winning but for fleshly manifestations. I looked to the Lord, and He surely helped me in everything. When I was eighteen years of age, I went to a plumber to ask for employment. I cleaned up my shoes with an extra shine, put on a clean collar, and applied at the home of this man. He said, “No, I don’t need anyone.” I said, “Thank you, Sir. I am sorry.” The man let me walk down to his gate and then called me back, saying: “There’s something about you that is different. I just can’t let you go.” He sent me to do a job fitting a row of homes with water piping, which I finished in a week. The master was so amazed that he said, “It cannot possibly be done!” but he went and found the work perfect. He said he could not keep me employed at that speed. When I was twenty years of age, I moved to Liverpool, and the power of God was mightily upon me. I had a great desire to help the young people. Every week I used to gather around me scores of boys and girls, barefooted, ragged, and hungry. I earned good money, but I spent all of it on food for those children. They would congregate in the sheds in the docks, and what meetings we had! Hundreds of them were saved. A friend of mine and I devoted ourselves to visiting the hospitals and also the ships. God gave me a great heart for the poor. I used to work hard and spend all I had on the poor and have nothing for myself. I fasted all day every Sunday and prayed, and I never remember seeing less than fifty souls saved by the power of God in the meetings with the children, in the hospitals, on the ships, and in the Salvation Army. These were the days of great soul awakening. At the Salvation Army meetings the officer in charge would constantly ask me to speak. I cannot tell why he should ask me, for my speech was always broken, weeping before the people. I could not hold back the tears. I would have given a world to be able to speak in a more eloquent way; but like Jeremiah I was a man with a fountain of tears. But as I wept before the people, this often would lead to an altar call. I thank God for those days because the Lord kept me in a broken, contrite spirit. The memory of those Liverpool days is very precious to me. When I was about twenty-three years of age, I was led to go back to Bradford, and I was strongly led to open up a business for myself as a plumber and give my spare time to helping the Salvation Army. It was there I met the best girl in the world!

THE EASTERN GATE — WHEN THE DOOR OPENS I have walked through Jerusalem many times during my archaeological journey, stood among its ancient stones, explored its history, and watched the city change beneath the light of the Judean sun. Yet there is one place that still causes me to stop. The Eastern Gate. Standing across from that magnificent sealed gateway, I have often simply stared at it in awe. The gate we see today is not the gate through which Solomon walked. Jerusalem is a city built layer upon layer, generation upon generation. Beneath our feet lie the remains of earlier Jerusalems—some excavated, others still hidden in the earth. And the Eastern Gate has its own archaeological mystery. In 1969, James Fleming was examining the area outside the present Golden Gate when the ground beneath him gave way. Below the modern ground level, he observed and photographed an earlier arched structure associated with the gateway. What exactly was it? How old was it? Could still earlier phases of Jerusalem's eastern entrance survive beneath it? Those questions remain debated. Archaeology has not established that Fleming discovered Solomon's gate. Extensive excavation of this extraordinarily sensitive area has never been possible. And perhaps that mystery is partly what makes standing there so remarkable. What we see above the ground is only part of the story. There are stones beneath the stones. There are gates beneath the gate. There is history beneath our feet. But whenever I stand there, my thoughts eventually move beyond archaeology. I look across the Kidron Valley toward the Mount of Olives. I look back toward that sealed entrance in Jerusalem's eastern wall. And I imagine a day archaeology cannot excavate. The coming of the Messiah. Imagine standing there when Yeshua returns to earthly Jerusalem. Imagine the sound of the shofar echoing across the valley. Imagine the King approaching Jerusalem. Imagine those ancient stones witnessing something greater than all the kings, armies, pilgrims and empires that have passed before them. And then I remember something Yeshua once said: “I am the door.” — John 10:9 Suddenly, the image of a sealed gate takes on another meaning. A stone gateway may be closed. But God's Door is open. Yeshua did not describe Himself merely as someone standing beside the entrance or someone pointing toward it. He said: “I am the door.” The message is profoundly simple. THE DOOR IS THE WAY A door separates two places. You stand on one side, but the door provides the entrance to the other. Yeshua presents Himself as the entrance to salvation and life with God. Wealth cannot purchase that entrance. Archaeological knowledge cannot unlock it. Religious status cannot earn it. The invitation is through Him. THE DOOR IS PROTECTION The imagery becomes even richer when we remember the shepherd. In the ancient world, sheep could be gathered into an enclosure where the entrance provided controlled access and protection. Against that background, Yeshua speaks not only about a door but immediately afterward about Himself as the Good Shepherd. The One who provides the entrance is also the One who cares for the sheep. THE DOOR LEADS TO LIFE Yeshua continues: “He will come in and go out and find pasture.” The Door does not lead into imprisonment. It leads to life. To fellowship. To belonging. To walking with the Shepherd. And that is why the Eastern Gate continues to fascinate me. As an archaeologist, I see ancient masonry, buried architectural phases, unanswered questions and thousands of years of Jerusalem's history. As a believer, I see something else. I see an illustration. The world can build walls. Men can close gates. Empires can rise and disappear. Stones can be buried beneath metres of earth. But there is one Door no human being can seal. Yeshua is that Door. Perhaps one day I will no longer have to stand across the Kidron Valley imagining the King coming to Jerusalem. Perhaps those ancient stones will witness the moment themselves. Until then, the sealed Eastern Gate remains there—silent, ancient and mysterious. And every time I look at it, I am reminded: The gate may be shut. But the Door is still open. Yeshua said, “I am the door.”

Because God made us, we didn’t make Him. A god you can make is a god you can control and make do whatever you wish. The ancient Greeks had a host of gods, all created by men. Some demanded human sacrifice; others permitted prostitution and even promoted it in their temples. When we reverse the order and start to create God in our own image (according to our own imagination) we get the following things: 1) A god who’s liberal or conservative, a hawk or a dove; a god politicians conveniently pull out of a box at election time to gain votes even though they don’t truly serve him. 2) A flexible god who permits you to do whatever you want, and you can then say, ‘I just felt led to do it.’ 3) A god who promises to bless his children but never discipline them. 4) A god you can ‘keep in his place’ until you need him. 5) A god who is not supreme but happy to be one of many deities offering many ways to heaven. Not so! God says, ‘I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no saviour.’ Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’ (John 14:6 NKJV). But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul"_ (Hebrews 10:38,39). *INTRODUCTION* 40 years have passed now when they left Egypt with great joy and hope coupled with triumph over the oppressive and terrorizing Egyptians. Little did they know the challenges that will greet them on the way. A few days journey from Kadesh to Jordan turned to 40 years. All the adults, except Caleb and Joshua, who left Egypt died without reaching the promised Canaan. Unfortunately, Moses, their faithful leader, including their high priest Aaron, and Miriam the Women Leader were painfully casualties. They just finished mourning Moses for 30 days. That was not their plan and expectations when they left Egypt. However, they must move on and enter the land of promise after all those setbacks. This takes courage and faith in God. The Christian life is similar especially, when the heart is not sanctified. Starting with the indescribable Joy of Salvation, the journey to heaven began. But unexpectedly, along the way, there are battles to fight, divine disciplines to endure and challenges meant to perfect that will be experienced. Those experiences and setbacks should not becloud our forward march to heaven; we must keep moving on until we enter the promised heaven. The Apostles were said to be *"Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom"* (Acts 14:22). *1. The Command to be Observed with Unwavering Faith* a. Joshua commanded the captains to *"Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals"*. Some people who willingly obey the commandments in their work places, public transports, whether land, air or sea, deride commandments when it comes from God through church leaders or shepherds. Some refused or stopped going to church because of their hate for commandments. They often talk of human rights, human free will etc when commandments are given by God through His ministers. The truth is that no man, no matter how wise or intelligent, can live happily or successfully in the world without learning to listen to instructions or commandments and follow them in every sphere of life. The Word of God is filled with instructions and commandment because none can claim to know the correct and fulfilling routes in life when he has never passed through it. Human security, safety, fulfillment and joy are tied to the ability to hear, listen and obey godly instructions and commandments. The 'dos' and 'don'ts' of the Word of God, which carnal minds reject, are actually, the path way to a happy and fulfilling life. b. Moses, their Prophet par excellence who used to see and hear from God directly was gone. Yet they did not idolize Moses that since Moses was gone all hope was lost. Their confidence was in God without any cult personality. True believers should not see any of their leaders as a cult personality to idolize. Cult personality in the household of faith is carnality and idol worship in action. Any God-given leader at any time should be obeyed and followed because it is the commandment of God and His Word that matters most and not the human vessel. Israel lost nothing as a result of the death of Moses. The same God who moved mightily in Moses also moved greatly in Joshua that Israel never regretted the death of Moses. The Command of Joshua was military in nature, but obeying it will require courage and faith. *"Within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it"*. Looking back, many souls have died without receiving the promise. Looking forward to Jordan that it would take a great miracle like it happened in the Red Sea before they could pass. However, Joshua gave the commandment as if the Jordan challenge was not there. Israel also did not raise alarm about the humanly impassable Jordan. They all jointly and unitedly believed God that crossing was a done deal since it was God who commanded and God had done it before. We must move on by faith to the hope set before us with courage. Since God has promised to take us to heaven, no need to fear the assault of persistent temptations, the murmurs of persecutions and afflictions, the threat of marital and career setbacks and the cruel dread of principalities and power. Just move on in obedience and faith according to His Word and be sure you will land on the other side of the river. *Question* Have you decided to continue the journey to the end no matter the challenges on the way? *2.Care to be Offered to the Unsettled Families* a. The Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh were given their land and possession before they crossed the Jordan River. Now that the soldiers of those tribes were settled, it was tempting for them to quit the journey and go to their rest. Moses settled that need for genuine brotherly love before he died. Joshua recalled that because he knew that the commandment of God does not die with the vessel that God used to declare it. He said, *"Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land"*. The vulnerable were to stay behind in the promised land while their soldiers joined the remaining Israelites to fight the Canaanites. There was no rest for them until their brethren had rest. Obeying that would require faith and a golden caring heart. First, who would protect those vulnerable two and half tribes when all their soldiers leave them behind? David did that for his wives and vulnerable followers in Ziklag and the Amalekites overran the wives and carried away everything belonging to them. Was that commandment of Moses reasonable? It was reasonable since it was given by God. It was reasonable because faith in God would not be disappointed. It was reasonable because the law of love is stronger than the law of self protection. This is the lesson for us as to how God works. b. *"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill ye the law of Christ"* (Galatians 6:2). Any law, policy or principle that does not visibly reflect the care and love for one another in the family, church and among neighbours is not of God no matter how the world exalts it. Practical and sacrificial care for one another is the hall mark of Christianity. When that is missing, the Christian faith is not different from other religions. Believers should lighten burdens of others, wiping off bitter tears, relieving the oppressed, putting the balm of Gilead in the troubled souls in addition to assisting and supporting others through prayer. Selfishness, self interest, self protection, self respect, etc.are being imported into the church as wisdom, but they are not Christlike. *"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others"* (Philippians 2:4). This is a commandment. *Question* Are you practically bearing others burdens or are you hypocritically selfish? *3. Consecration to Obedience and Unity by the Faithful* a. Christian consecration is the solemn act of setting apart a person, place or thing from ordinary, secular use and dedicating it entirely to God and holy purposes. This includes consecration to do and obey the Word of God. It is difficult in these last days of superficial christianity and devotion to deliberately, doggedly and determinedly stick to the Word of God without definite consecrations. When it comes to unity among brethren, many things often threaten unity and it takes consecration with godly unity in order to ensure the unity of the saints. This is needful because the victory, the blessings and divine visitations on a people are tightly connected to unity. Unity must be encouraged and enforced in order to enjoy God's bests. *"Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace"*. We must preach it, pray for it, practice it and pass it on to the future generations. Would the Holy Spirit have descended on the Early Church if they were not united in the Upper Room? If the Trinity is not united, what would the world look like? *"And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go"*. It takes deliberate consecration to God to obey all the commandments of God without complaining. It takes consecration to follow a man of like passion wholeheartedly. Consecrations are milestones to spiritual maturity and profitability in the hands of God. We must live to add value to others.* *Today's passage centres on the preparation of Israel to go in and possess the Promised Land under the able leadership of Joshua, the son of Nun, the commander of the army of Israel after the death of Moses. This time, they were on the verge of entering Canaan. Strategically, he told the army to prepare, and he reminded the three tribes: Reuben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh of their promise to Moses that they would cross the River Jordan and fight alongside the nine and the half tribes until they possessed their inheritance before returning to settle on the east side of Jordan. The tribal leaders affirmed their commitment and promised to follow Joshua as they followed Moses, irrespective of the challenges ahead.* *The salient lesson here include the unity among the tribes, cooperation with the leader, and Joshua's uncompromising, indefatigable leadership style that gave Israel the edge. After hearing the Book of the Law and humbling himself before the Lord, Josiah immediately begins leading the nation back to covenant faithfulness. His response demonstrates that genuine revival always begins with God's Word and continues through obedient action. Josiah gathers the people and publicly renews the covenant before the Lord. He does not keep God's truth private but calls the entire nation to return to faithful worship. The king understands that spiritual renewal must involve both personal repentance and public obedience. The reforms that follow are comprehensive. Josiah removes idols, destroys pagan altars, eliminates false worship, and cleanses the temple. Nothing that competes with devotion to the Lord is left untouched. His actions reveal that true repentance is more than sorrow over sin—it involves turning away from everything that dishonors God. One of the most significant moments in the chapter is the restoration of the Passover. For generations, this central celebration of God's redeeming work had been neglected. By restoring it, Josiah calls the nation to remember God's covenant faithfulness and their identity as His redeemed people. Political alliances fail, military strength proves insufficient, and the nation experiences the consequences of years of covenant unfaithfulness. The writer emphasizes that these events are not simply the result of Babylon's military superiority but the outworking of God's righteous judgment. The chapter repeatedly points back to the sins of Manasseh and the persistent rebellion that followed him. Judah has consistently rejected God's Word, ignored His prophets, and embraced idolatry.
