GIVING TO GOD: A MATTER OF FAITH, LOVE, AND RESPONSIBILITY Good morning, dear brothers and sisters! 🙏🏾❤️ Every morning that God gives us the breath of life is already a reason to say, “Thank You, Lord!” We should never take life for granted or assume that it is automatic or guaranteed. “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 The Bible teaches us that giving to God and supporting His work should be done with love, faith, freedom, and a sincere heart—not under pressure or manipulation. 1. GOD LOOKS FIRST AT THE HEART ❤️ Jesus taught that it is not necessarily the amount we give that matters most, but the heart with which we give. In Mark 12:41–44, Jesus observed a poor widow who placed two small coins into the Temple treasury. In the eyes of people, her offering was very small. But Jesus explained that she had given sincerely, according to what she had. This teaches us an important truth: God does not ask a person who has nothing to give what they do not have. He looks at faith, sincerity, and the condition of the heart. 2. THE BIBLE ENCOURAGES GENEROSITY—NOT PRESSURE 2 Corinthians 9:7 says: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” This is a fundamental Christian principle. A pastor, evangelist, or church may honestly explain the needs of the ministry, present projects, and invite people to participate. But no one should manipulate people's consciences by saying, for example: “If you don't give, God will punish you.” Christian generosity should be free, voluntary, joyful, and motivated by love. ❤️ 3. THE TITHE IN THE BIBLE Tithing appears clearly in the Old Testament, particularly in Malachi 3:10, where it was part of Israel's religious system. In the New Testament, Jesus also speaks about tithing, including in Matthew 23:23, while emphasizing the greater matters of justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Therefore, we should never turn the tithe into a tool of pressure or a magical formula for receiving God's blessings. Giving is not buying God's blessing. God is not a businessman, and an offering is not a payment intended to force God to give us something in return. 4. WHAT SHOULD A PERSON DO IF THEY HAVE NOTHING? A person who has very little should never be humiliated because they cannot give financially. They can serve God in many other ways: 🙏🏾 Through prayer ⏰ Through their time 💡 Through their skills 🤝 Through their work 📖 Through evangelism ❤️ Through encouragement 🫂 Through helping others 🏠 Through hospitality 🗣️ Through their testimony Jesus never taught that the value of a Christian depends on how much money they give. Your value before God is not measured by the size of your wallet. ❤️ 5. HOW CAN A MAN OF GOD SUPPORT HIS MINISTRY? This is where we need balance and wisdom. A servant of God can honestly present the needs of his ministry, such as: Evangelism and outreach Renting or building a place of worship Audio and video equipment Transportation Helping widows Supporting orphans Youth programs Community development and other ministry activities Then he can invite those who are able to participate voluntarily and according to their means. The Bible also teaches that those who proclaim the Gospel may receive support through the work they do (1 Corinthians 9:13–14). But a servant of God must also practice transparency and integrity. When donations are received, there should be accountability regarding how the funds are used. Proper records should be maintained, and personal finances should not be carelessly mixed with ministry funds. 6. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TOWARD WIDOWS AND VULNERABLE PEOPLE The Bible places great importance on widows, orphans, the poor, and vulnerable people. James 1:27 reminds us that pure and genuine religion includes caring for orphans and widows in their distress. Therefore, when a church or ministry receives resources, it should not think only about buildings and equipment. It should also ask: “How can we use what God has entrusted to us to help people who are suffering?” 7. AN INVITATION WITHOUT PRESSURE 🙏🏾❤️ To everyone who desires to support a Christian ministry: If God has blessed you with resources and you feel led to support the Gospel, you are welcome to contribute freely and joyfully. You can give financially, materially, through your time, your skills, or your prayers. But if you are personally going through a difficult season and cannot give financially, please do not feel guilty. Your prayers matter. Your encouragement matters. Your presence matters. Your faith matters. Your worth before God does not depend on your ability to give money. ❤️ CONCLUSION Our goal is not to take people's money. Our goal is to serve God, proclaim the Gospel, build a lasting ministry, and bring hope and practical help to people in need. I desire to develop my ministry, reach more people with the Gospel, build a sustainable work, and especially support widows, orphans, and vulnerable people. But I want to do this with truth, integrity, transparency, accountability, and without pressure. 🚨 Canadian officials proceeded with lethal injection after an 83-year-old grandmother stayed silent An 83-year-old Christian grandmother who had already rejected assisted suicide was euthanized under Canada’s MAiD program after her family says she never gave the required final verbal consent. Brigitte Stegemann, known to her family as GG, lived at The Pearl long-term care facility in Belleville, Ontario, and had been diagnosed with untreatable Stage IV stomach cancer five months earlier. Two months before her death she clearly told staff she did not want Medical Assistance in Dying because it violated her Christian faith and she wanted to die naturally. While her granddaughter, who held legal power of attorney and had advocated for her for more than 12 years, was away on a 10-day vacation, facility staff reopened the conversation privately without informing the family. Stegemann was completely deaf in one ear and could hear only minimally in the other, and she was frequently lethargic and unresponsive. During formal assessments on July 6th and 7th she gave incorrect answers to basic questions, saying she had no siblings even though she was the second-youngest of 14 children, and claiming none of her siblings were still alive when some were and she had spoken with one the previous week. She became disoriented, cried, and confused her surviving siblings with her great-grandchildren. The family corrected most of her answers and challenged the physician on how she could be declared capable. The doctor still ruled her capable of consenting, ordered the family out of the room, and scheduled the procedure for July 10th. Staff later admitted the death date had been set before the official paperwork was finished, and facility employees completed and witnessed the forms themselves. Officials even tried to move the injection forward by a full day to fit the physician’s schedule. On the morning of July 10th, the family took Stegemann outside for fresh air and gave her a scoop of her favorite strawberry ice cream while waiting for her pastor, as she had requested. The family had been assured she would have to give explicit verbal confirmation immediately beforehand, yet Stegemann remained silent with her hands held in a prayer position. The chapter begins with Ahab desiring Naboth's vineyard because it lies near his palace. Naboth respectfully refuses to sell or exchange the land because it is part of the inheritance God had given his family. His decision is not stubbornness but faithfulness to the Lord's covenant concerning the land. Instead of respecting Naboth's obedience, Ahab becomes resentful and childish. He allows disappointment to control his heart rather than submitting his desires to God. His weakness opens the door for Jezebel, who devises a wicked plan to obtain the vineyard through false accusations and the murder of an innocent man. The abuse of political power, corruption of justice, and disregard for God's law reveal how far Israel's leadership has drifted from the Lord. Although Ahab and Jezebel believe they have succeeded, God has witnessed every act of injustice. The Lord sends Elijah to confront Ahab directly. Elijah boldly declares God's judgment upon Ahab's house because of his deliberate rebellion and oppression of the innocent. The chapter reminds us that no act of injustice escapes God's attention. He is the righteous Judge who sees what others overlook. Surprisingly, when Ahab hears God's judgment, he humbles himself. His repentance is incomplete, and it does not erase the consequences of his sin, yet God notices even this limited humility. In His mercy, the Lord delays part of the judgment until the next generation. Once again, God's justice is balanced by His compassion. He is always willing to respond to genuine humility, even when consequences remain. Theologically, 1 Kings 21 reveals God's unwavering commitment to justice. He defends the innocent, confronts the abuse of power, and holds leaders accountable for how they treat others. The chapter also demonstrates that repentance matters. While it may not remove every earthly consequence, humility before God always matters to Him. This chapter points to Christ, the perfectly righteous King who always defends the oppressed and judges with complete justice. Unlike Ahab, Jesus never used His authority for personal gain but laid down His life for others. He identifies with those who suffer injustice and promises that ultimate justice will be established through His eternal kingdom. Ahab joins Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, in considering a military campaign to reclaim Ramoth Gilead. Before proceeding, Jehoshaphat wisely asks whether they have sought the counsel of the Lord. Ahab gathers hundreds of prophets who unanimously predict success. Their message is encouraging, but it lacks truth. Jehoshaphat senses that something is missing and asks whether there is still a true prophet of the Lord. Ahab reluctantly summons Micaiah, admitting that he dislikes him because Micaiah never tells him what he wants to hear. Micaiah faithfully delivers God's message despite intense pressure to conform. He reveals that Israel's victory has not been ordained and warns Ahab of impending judgment. His courage demonstrates that a true servant of God speaks truth even when it is unpopular. Micaiah values faithfulness to God above acceptance by people. Ahab rejects the warning and proceeds with the battle anyway. Continuation chapter 3 3.1 The book of Proverbs, that ancient collection of wisdom and one-liners, gives us the antidote: "A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back." (Proverbs 29:11). A fool gives full vent. He opens the valve and lets the emotional steam blast out in every direction, scorching everyone in the vicinity, and then he calls it "transparency." The wise man, on the other hand, holds it back—not to suppress it forever, but to examine it first. He looks at the cake and says, "Before I serve this to everyone and insist it's from God, let me check the ingredients. Was this anger baked with love, or was it fried in last week's resentment? Was this righteous fury, or am I just tired and hungry and someone looked at me funny?" The wise man puts a pause between the feeling and the action. The fool just hits "send" on the email he wrote while the emotion was still a fresh, steaming loaf of nonsense. ‎ ‎Now, the truly spectacular part of this whole theatrical production is that the illusions are not random. They have a specific purpose. They are designed—by you, for you—to protect your fragile ego from the unbearable truth that you might be wrong, or selfish, or in need of genuine change. The illusion is a bodyguard hired by your pride. It stands at the door of your consciousness and says, "No, you can't come in here with that nonsense about humility and repentance. This person is a victim! A hero! A misunderstood prophet!" And the emotion that the illusion generates is the bodyguard's paycheck. As long as you stay angry, the bodyguard stays employed. As long as you feel sorry for yourself, the bodyguard gets a bonus. As long as you're right and they're wrong, the bodyguard gets a corner office with a view. ‎ ‎So how do you fire the bodyguard? How do you shut down the bake-off and stop eating the emotional cake that's making you spiritually obese? You do the one thing the illusion absolutely cannot survive: you laugh at it. Not a bitter, cynical laugh. A genuine, delighted, "oh my goodness, I've done it again, I actually convinced myself that my indigestion was a prophetic word" kind of laugh. You step back from the emotion and say, "There goes my heart again, being deceitful above all things. What a rascal. What a brilliant little con artist. Look at it go, spinning that same old story about how I'm the victim and they're the villain. It's almost adorable, like a hamster trying to operate a forklift." And when you laugh, the illusion loses its power. It cannot thrive in the light of genuine, humble humor. It needs you to take it seriously. It needs you to believe the drama. The moment you chuckle, the whole set collapses, and you see the strings and the plywood and the guy in the back operating the smoke machine. ‎ ‎King David, who was no stranger to emotional chaos—the man once danced nearly naked in public and also wrote some of the most anguished poetry in history—had a habit of talking to his own soul. He would say, "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God." (Psalm 42:5). Notice what he's doing. He's not taking his downcast soul on a road trip of despair. He's interrogating it. He's cross-examining the witness. "Why are you downcast? Give me a reason. Is it a good reason, or did you just eat bad spiritual pizza again?" He's refusing to let the emotion drive the bus without showing its license. And then he redirects the soul to hope in God. Not to hope in the resolution of the immediate problem, not to hope in being proven right, but to hope in the character of the Almighty. That's not suppression; that's redirection. That's saying to the emotional cake, "Thank you for your submission, but I'm on a diet of actual truth now." ‎
