September 1 🌿 “WHEN I CANNOT SEE HIS HAND” WHEN I CHOOSE TO REMEMBER 📖 Lamentations 3:21–23 (LLV) — “Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD's faithful love we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” There are times when hope seems to arrive naturally. Something changes. A prayer is answered. A door opens. The clouds begin to clear. And suddenly hope feels possible again. That is not what happens here. Jeremiah is surrounded by devastation. The city he loves has fallen. His people are suffering. His heart is filled with grief. Nothing around him has suddenly become better. Then Jeremiah says: “This I call to mind.” He makes a choice. He remembers something. And because of what he remembers, hope begins to return. “Therefore I have hope.” Sometimes hope begins not when our circumstances change, but when we remember what our circumstances have caused us to forget. God is still faithful. His mercy has not run out. His love has not disappeared. His character has not changed. Jeremiah cannot yet look around and say, “Everything is well.” But he can look toward God and say, “Great is Your faithfulness.” That is a very different kind of hope. It does not deny the ruins. It does not pretend the pain is small. It simply refuses to allow the ruins to tell the entire story. Then Jeremiah gives us one of Scripture's most beautiful images: “His mercies are new every morning.” Yesterday may have been difficult. Yesterday may contain things we cannot change. Yesterday may have exhausted every bit of strength we thought we had. But morning comes. And when it does, God's mercy has not been used up by yesterday. There is mercy for this morning. Grace for this day. Strength for this burden. Faithfulness for this step. Perhaps that is why remembering matters so much. When we cannot see God's hand in what is happening now, we can remember where we have seen it before. We remember the prayers He answered. The strength He supplied. The doors He opened. The times He carried us through something we once thought we could never endure. And memory becomes a bridge between yesterday's faithfulness and today's hope. Nothing around Jeremiah had changed. But he remembered something greater than what surrounded him. God had not changed. A new beginning sometimes begins by remembering: when I cannot see what God is doing today, I can remember who He has always been. Reflection: What evidence of God's faithfulness from yesterday do I need to deliberately remember today? Prayer: Heavenly Father, when difficulty fills my vision, I can easily forget the many ways You have already been faithful. Help me call them to mind. Remind me of Your mercy, Your provision, Your strength, and Your presence through every season behind me. Thank You that yesterday cannot exhaust the mercy You have prepared for today. Whatever surrounds me this morning, let me remember and say with Jeremiah: “Great is Your faithfulness.” In Jesus' name, Amen.

We choose to praise God not only when everything is perfect, but because He remains God in every season. As you begin September, don't begin with fear about what the month may bring. Begin with praise for the God who already knows what lies ahead. Praise Him for His protection. Praise Him for His mercy. Praise Him for His provision. Praise Him for answered prayers. Praise Him for prayers still awaiting answers. Praise Him for the victories you can see and the battles He is fighting behind the scenes. Your mouth has power to shape the atmosphere of your day. It may be that they had recorded successes in previous battles, or have become famous for their accomplishments. In the end, they become the victims of their ego and exaggerated sense of power and importance.* *This is what happened to the kings of the nations on the east of River Jordan. The children of Israel were on a journey ordered by the Almighty God. They were heading to the land of Canaan, in fulfilment of the promise God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Their land was not part of Canaan, and therefore, was not intended to be inherited by the Israelites. The inheritance of the Israelites was to be solely Canaan, the land flowing with milk and honey. But on their way, the Israelites encountered nations that had heard about the supernatural work of God in bringing them out of Egypt. Although the Israelites did not declare war against them, these nations, some out of unfounded fear of losing their territory, and others out of envy and hatred against this nation that had a God that can subdue, humble and defeat Egypt, the great world power of the time, took it on themselves to stop Israel from progressing towards their land of promise. One of such kings was Sihon, king of the Amorites, whose nation was mainly a lush vegetation sandwiched by rivers and plain land that was a haven for pastoralists and for other forms of agriculture. The other king was Og, king of Bashan, a land of the remnants of the giants, with similar topography as the land of the Amorites. When they rose against the Israelites, they were roundly defeated, their kingdoms destroyed and their land confiscated by Moses. He subsequently allocated the land to two and half tribes of Israel, which desired to settle there because it was suitable for their vocation as pastoralists. Had those nations stayed out of the way of the Israelites, they would have remained in their land.* *We must be wise and not take on battles that are not ours, whether out of sympathy with other people or to prove that we are powerful. As believers, we have more than enough battles against principalities and powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places, against sin and Satan. The armour Christ has given us is intended to defeat these adversaries. It is not to be wasted on self-imposed battles that do not benefit the kingdom of God. Those who engage in the wrong battles suffer great loss, and live to regret it for the rest of their lives. Some are penned down in the Bible while there are many more that have been experienced by individuals, families, communities and nations since creation of man. The fact that God is immutable guarantees that those miracles can be repeated and increased in greatness and number. One of the greatest ways to strengthen faith is to deliberately rehearse God's faithfulness and meditate on those past wonders of God. Throughout Scripture, God often instructed His people to remember His mighty acts so that they would trust Him for future victories. Israel's conquest of the Amorites under Sihon and the later record of those victories in Joshua remind us that God's past interventions are powerful testimonies of His unfailing covenant. Every believer should cultivate the habit of recalling God's goodness instead of dwelling on past fears or failures. As we recount His faithfulness, our confidence in His promises grows. *1.Arrogant Courting of Battles* Israel peacefully requested passage through the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, but Sihon arrogantly rejected the request and chose war instead (Numbers 21:21–25). It is the norm in military warfare that you don't fight those who come and prefer peace to war. The worst is to lead them as captives. Sihon had taken pride in defeating Moab and taking her possessions (Numbers 21:26-2). Their victory over Moab was celebrated as it became a song in the land. He was optimistic and emboldened that he could repeat the same feat against Israel. However, he was thoughtless and proud. His pride blinded him to the fact that he was fighting against God's covenant people. It is dangerous and risky to fight against the covenant people of God. The battle ended in complete defeat of Sihon because no human strength can prevail against God's purpose. b. Believers have the domineering power of Jesus Christ to crush every power of the adversaries. However, this is not a license for believers to arrogantly court and tempt the people of darkness to unnecessary warfare. When Herod wanted Jesus to perform some miracles for a show of power, Jesus declined because it was unnecessary (Luke 23:8). When Satan tempted Jesus to jump down from the mountain, Jesus also declined because it was an unnecessary show of power. Believers should avoid unnecessary boasting and fight in the name of the Lord that is borne out of arrogance or pride. Believers should never fear opposition, for God remains the Defender of those who trust Him. At the same time, we must guard against pride, remembering that arrogance always invites destruction. *Question* Am I trusting God's strength in life's battles, or am I relying on human confidence and pride? *2. Appreciative Counting of Blessings* Joshua carefully recorded the kings and their land, whom God had delivered into Israel's hands (Joshua 12:1–5). These verses are more than historical records—they are memorials of divine faithfulness. God's people are encouraged to remember every victory and every answered prayer. Gratitude protects the heart from discouragement and unbelief. When we regularly count our blessings, we discover that God's mercies greatly outweigh our trials. Thanksgiving also prepares us to receive greater blessings from the Lord. As the psalmist puts it, *"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."* This will take a diligent and deliberate effort like Joshua did when he wrote down and recalled the good wonders of God to himself and to the whole Israel. *Question* How often do I deliberately remember and thank God for His past faithfulness in my life? *3. Additions to Covenant for the Beloved* a. The conquered territories were not part of the promised Canaan inheritance. But Sihon and Og lost their land through their pride and arrogance and those blessings were taken from them and added to the children of Israel (Joshua 12:6). After getting victory, Moses assigned the conquered territory to the tribes of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh as their inheritance. God's faithfulness extends beyond victory in battle to the fulfillment of His covenant promises. b. There are several cases where God took away the assigned blessing of the arrogant and added them to the portion of the godly. Reuben and Esau were supposed to have the double blessings of their first born, but they both lost them through carelessness and profanity. Their blessings were added to Judah and Jacob respectively. Jesus warned the Ephesian Church of loss of ministry if they didn't repent from the loss of their first love and the immoral practices of the Nicolaitans(Revelation 2:5). He also warned the Pastor of Philadelphia that if he was not watchful, his crown would be taken from him and be given or added to another person. *"Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown"* (Revelation 3:11). Remember, King Saul lost his crown, which was supposed to be generational, to David. The same with Esau and none of them could get his back. Fight and be watchful to retain and enjoy all your blessings and inheritance assigned to you by God. *Question* Am I very watchful and prayerful in ensuring that my blessings and inheritance are not taken from me and transferred to another person? *Prayer Points* 1.Heavenly Father, help me always remember and celebrate Your faithfulness in every season of my life 🙏. 2.Lord, deliver me from every form of pride, boasting and unnecessary show of power and grant me victory over every battle confronting my faith 🙏. 3.Give me a grateful heart that continually counts Your blessings instead of focusing on life's difficulties. 4.Give Your children grace to be watchful and prayerful and don't allow anyone to take their assigned blessings and inheritance 🙏. *HYMN:* Count Your Blessings *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 26-29. 2. Our Redeemer Never Fails Scripture Ruth 4:14 (NKJV) Then the women said to Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel! The Faithfulness of Our Redeemer Ruth 4 brings the beautiful story of redemption to its joyful conclusion. Boaz went to the city gate, where legal matters were settled, and met the closer relative who had the first right to redeem Naomi's property. Although the man was willing to redeem the land, he refused when he learned that he must also marry Ruth in order to preserve the family line. Rather than obeying God's provision for redemption, he chose to protect his own inheritance. Boaz, however, willingly accepted the responsibility. Before the elders and the people of Bethlehem, he redeemed the property, took Ruth as his wife, and publicly fulfilled the role of the kinsman-redeemer. His actions demonstrated both obedience to God's law and genuine love for Ruth and Naomi. The Lord blessed their marriage, and Ruth gave birth to a son named Obed. The women of Bethlehem rejoiced with Naomi, who had once returned to Bethlehem saying that she was empty and bitter. Now they declared that God had not left her without a redeemer. The Lord had turned her sorrow into joy and her emptiness into fullness. The chapter concludes by revealing that Obed became the father of Jesse, the father of King David. Through this family line, God would later bring Jesus Christ into the world—the ultimate Redeemer of all who believe in Him. Ruth 4 points us directly to Jesus. Like Boaz, Christ willingly paid the price to redeem those who could not redeem themselves. He did not act out of obligation but out of love. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus purchased our salvation and gave us an eternal inheritance that can never be taken away. This chapter also reminds us that God is always working, even when we cannot see the ending. Naomi's story began with famine, loss, and grief, but God was quietly writing a greater story of redemption. The same God is faithfully working in the lives of His people today. No matter how painful your present circumstances may seem, your Redeemer is still at work. God's faithfulness often becomes most visible when we look back and see how He has been guiding every step all along. Reflection Questions 1. Am I trusting Jesus as my Redeemer in every area of my life? 2. Have I thanked God for the ways He has brought redemption from difficult seasons? 3. How can my life reflect the love, faithfulness, and generosity of Christ toward others? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus Christ to be my perfect Redeemer. Thank You for paying the price that I could never pay and for giving me new life through Your grace. Help me to trust Your faithfulness, especially when I cannot yet see the outcome of my circumstances. Teach me to walk in obedience, to love others sacrificially, and to rest in the assurance that You are always working for Your glory and my good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

1 September Have Never Seen the Righteous Forsaken 📖 Psalm 37:25 (AMP) “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous [those in right standing with God] abandoned or his descendants pleading for bread.” God Has Never Forgotten You There are seasons when life can make you wonder whether God sees what you are going through. You may look at your circumstances and think, “Lord, how am I going to get through this?” Perhaps provision seems uncertain, the future feels unstable, or you have been waiting so long for an answer that discouragement has begun to creep into your heart. But David gives us a powerful testimony: he had lived long enough to see many seasons, yet he could testify that God had never abandoned His righteous ones. Notice that David didn't say the righteous never experience hardship. He didn't say they never face lack, disappointment, uncertainty, or difficult seasons. His testimony was that God does not abandon His children in the middle of those things. Sometimes God's provision doesn't arrive in the way or timing we expected. Sometimes He provides through an unexpected opportunity, a person, a door that opens, strength for another day, or simply the grace to keep going when we don't know what tomorrow holds. But He remains faithful. Your present circumstance is not proof of God's absence. A difficult season does not mean God has forgotten your name. A delayed answer does not mean He has changed His mind about you. A season of uncertainty does not mean you are walking alone. The same God who carried you through yesterday is already present in your tomorrow. 🌱 Remember What God Has Already Done David's confidence came from looking back. “I have been young and now I am old…” In other words: “I have lived long enough to know that God is faithful.” There is power in remembering. Think back over your own journey. Remember the doors God opened. Remember the times you thought you wouldn't make it, yet somehow you did. Remember the strength that came when you had none left. Remember the provision that arrived at just the right moment. Those moments become reminders for today: If God was faithful then, He is still faithful now. You don't have to understand everything God is doing to trust the God who is doing it. ❤️ God Is Your Provider Psalm 37:25 reminds us that our security ultimately does not come from our circumstances—it comes from God. People can change. Jobs can change. Economies can change. Plans can change. Life can change. God does not. He knows what you need before you ask. He sees what you cannot see. He knows where your provision will come from before you even know there is a need. So today, refuse to let fear tell you that you have been forgotten. Lift your eyes above the circumstance and remember the character of your Father. He is faithful. He is trustworthy. He is your provider. He will not abandon you. Your story isn't finished. 🙏 Prayer Father, Thank You for reminding me that You never abandon those who trust in You. When I look at my circumstances and become afraid of what tomorrow may bring, help me to remember Your faithfulness. Thank You for every time You have carried me, provided for me, protected me, and made a way when I couldn't see one. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear to make me question Your presence. Help me to trust You even when I don't understand Your timing. Teach me to walk by faith and not by what I see. Give me peace when provision seems uncertain and courage when the future feels unknown. Lord, I choose to believe that You have not forgotten me. You are still my Provider. You are still my Shepherd. You are still my refuge. You are still faithful.
