  • This is why elders matter.

Not because everything old is automatically right.

And not because everything new is automatically wrong.

But because every generation needs people who can distinguish between:

    TRUTH AND ERROR.

    HOLINESS AND HYPE.

    GOSPEL AND ENTERTAINMENT.

    CONVICTION AND EMOTION.

THE VOICE OF GOD AND THE NOISE OF THE CROWD.

  • Daily Devotion — September 5 | Acts 24:25 (NKJV)

Do Not Wait for a Convenient Time

Paul stood before Felix and spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come. Instead of simply telling Felix what he wanted to hear, Paul faithfully presented the truth. The message reached Felix's heart so deeply that he became afraid.

Felix recognized the seriousness of what Paul was saying, but instead of responding immediately, he told Paul to leave and promised to listen at a more convenient time. He felt conviction, but he postponed his response.

This passage reminds us that conviction is an opportunity to respond to God. When the Holy Spirit reveals something that needs to change in our lives, we should not assume there will always be a better or more convenient time to obey.

It is easy to delay spiritual decisions. We may tell ourselves that we will pray more later, forgive someone later, change a sinful habit later, or surrender an area of our lives when circumstances become easier. But postponing obedience can cause our hearts to become increasingly resistant to God's voice.

Paul's message also reminds us that God's truth addresses every part of our lives. Righteousness calls us to live rightly before God. Self-control calls us to bring our desires and actions under godly discipline. The judgment to come reminds us that our lives ultimately stand before God and that our choices matter.

Today, if God is speaking to your heart about something, do not push it aside. Respond with humility and obedience. The right time to surrender to God is not when life becomes convenient. The right time is when He speaks.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Is God convicting me about an area of my life that I have been delaying

    2. What keeps me from responding immediately when God shows me something that needs to change

    3. What step of obedience can I take today instead of waiting for a convenient time

    Prayer

Lord God, give me a heart that responds quickly when You speak. Help me not to delay obedience or ignore Your conviction. Teach me to pursue righteousness, practice self-control, and live with eternity in view. Give me courage to surrender every area of my life to You today. In Jesus name Amen.

    Practical Application

    - Respond promptly when God reveals an area that needs correction

    - Practice self-control in the areas where you are most easily tempted

    - Make today's obedience more important than tomorrow's convenience

    Takeaway Thought
When God convicts your heart, do not wait for a convenient time to obey.

  • Imagine a generation that knows every trending preacher...

    but doesn't know Scripture.

    Knows every worship song...

    but doesn't know repentance.

    Knows how to shout...

but doesn't know how to obey.

    Knows how to claim promises...

but doesn't know the One who made them.

Knows how to say “Lord, Lord”...

but has never surrendered completely to the Lord.

    What have we gained?
