📘 Daily Devotion — September 5 | Acts 24:25 (NKJV) 💯 Do Not Wait for a Convenient Time Paul stood before Felix and spoke about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come. Instead of simply telling Felix what he wanted to hear, Paul faithfully presented the truth. The message reached Felix's heart so deeply that he became afraid. Felix recognized the seriousness of what Paul was saying, but instead of responding immediately, he told Paul to leave and promised to listen at a more convenient time. He felt conviction, but he postponed his response. This passage reminds us that conviction is an opportunity to respond to God. When the Holy Spirit reveals something that needs to change in our lives, we should not assume there will always be a better or more convenient time to obey. It is easy to delay spiritual decisions. We may tell ourselves that we will pray more later, forgive someone later, change a sinful habit later, or surrender an area of our lives when circumstances become easier. But postponing obedience can cause our hearts to become increasingly resistant to God's voice. Paul's message also reminds us that God's truth addresses every part of our lives. Righteousness calls us to live rightly before God. Self-control calls us to bring our desires and actions under godly discipline. The judgment to come reminds us that our lives ultimately stand before God and that our choices matter. Today, if God is speaking to your heart about something, do not push it aside. Respond with humility and obedience. The right time to surrender to God is not when life becomes convenient. The right time is when He speaks. Reflection Questions 1. Is God convicting me about an area of my life that I have been delaying 2. What keeps me from responding immediately when God shows me something that needs to change 3. Christian living is rooted in the understanding that every circumstance can be used by the Son of God to accomplish His redemptive plan. The believer's calling is determined by God's purpose rather than outward conditions. Paul explains that God revealed a mystery that had not been fully understood in previous generations. This mystery is that both Jews and Gentiles are brought together into one body through the Christ. The redemptive plan has always pointed toward this unity, but it is now fully revealed through the gospel. His love surpasses human understanding because it extends beyond every limitation of time, distance, and human ability. Christian living grows stronger as believers continually discover more of His love. The Son of God never ceases to reveal the depth of His grace to those who seek Him. The chapter concludes with a magnificent declaration of God's unlimited power. The Lord is able to accomplish far more than believers could ever ask or imagine because His power is continually at work within them. The redemptive plan is not limited by human weakness or circumstances. The Christ is accomplishing His eternal purposes through His people for His own glory. Throughout Ephesians chapter 3, the Christ stands at the center of God's revealed mystery, the unity of the Church, the believer's confidence before God, and the limitless love that transforms every heart. Everything God has planned from eternity finds its fulfillment through His beloved Son. For believers today, this chapter reminds us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves. Christian living is rooted in God's eternal purpose and sustained by the limitless love of the Christ. We are called to grow deeper in our understanding of His grace, stronger in our dependence upon His Spirit, and more confident in His power. The word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, and My Spirit, remain among you: fear ye not. Haggai 2:5 ᴊɴᴅ We can give thanks to God that, as we await the coming of the Lord Jesus, we always have with us His precious Word, which not only does not change but “abides for eternity” (1 Pet. 1:25). This world wants to make us believe God’s Word is archaic, man-made, full of mistakes, not from God, and that it should be adapted to our times. But not so! It is “not men’s word, but … as it is truly, God’s word” (1 Th. 2:13), and it does not change: “the word of the Lord abides for eternity” (1 Pet. 1:25). We are also blessed and privileged to have God’s Holy Spirit who abides with us, and is in us, and will be with us forever (Jn. 14:16–17)! The natural man can neither receive nor know the things of God, but the Spirit of God makes us know “the things which have been freely given to us of God” (1 Cor. 2:12). And thus we can build ourselves up on our most holy faith, the Spirit of God using the Word of God to make us know and grasp as a living and present reality the things concerning “Him who has called [us] out of darkness to His wonderful light” (1 Pet. 2:9), as well as all of God’s eternal purpose “for them that love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9). Haggai had a similar message for his contemporaries when he declared from the Lord, “Work: for I am with you, saith Jehovah of hosts. The word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, and my Spirit, remain among you: fear ye not” (Hag. 2:4–5). The people had to rebuild the temple, for the Messiah, “the desire of all nations” (v. 7), was coming, and there was work still to be done. And so for us: until we hear the sound of the last trumpet, we have the same encouragement, to work at the edification of the body of Christ (Eph. 4:11–12), finding all the resources of grace we need to do so in our soon coming Lord Jesus Christ! For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. *TOPIC:* FUTURE ASSURED. *THE MESSAGE:* While our parents may plan for our future, God's plan for us is always perfect in timing and direction. His plans are always good, filled with hope and purpose. When we align with His will and seek Him wholeheartedly, we can be confident of a secure and fulfilling future. Even in times of hardship or uncertainty, like the current killings and land grabbing, God is not absent. He may be shaping a brighter future for us, just as He did for the people of Judah. The message of this text reflects God's unchanging character towards His people. His plans are always for peace and restoration, not harm. When we seek Him sincerely and pray, He listens and reveals Himself to us. ED.ii. USE WHATEVER YOU HAVE "The One (Jesus) who is in you is greater than the one (the evil one) who is in the world." - 1 John 4:4 David was a shepherd boy and used handling a sling. He was familiar with it. When he was dressed in Saul's armor, he knew that he could not fight in that. He was not familiar with such armor. He could handle his simple sling. With this he killed Goliath, and this was a huge victory. Shamgar was a simple farmer. He was familiar with working with an ox stick. He knew exactly how to handle it. So, he used what he was familiar with to defeat the enemy. Work with what you have You too must use what you are familiar with for the Lord's case. With this you will win the battle, because the Lord will be able to do miracles for you. Most work done in the Kingdom of God is done by simple people, who use what they have and start working with it. God does not need big things We do not need difficult things to enable God to perform great miracles. God does not need big things to do something big. You should not be afraid, but brave; you have to use what you have at hand and work with it. Be obedient and go to war with what you have. Fight the enemy. The enemy is great, and he is always against us, but what does that matter when God is on our side? Although it seems that we are not in the majority, with Jesus we are more than conquerors, because He who lives in us is more powerful than he who controls the world.
