So if you’re wondering how much your soul is worth - well, Jesus loves you so much so that He left the splendor of heaven to give His life, dying on a cross so that you can live with Him for all eternity. Need to know. Signs You Have an Octopus Spirit! What is the Octopus Spirit? This is a spirit that causes you to feel like your mind is wrapped, squeezed, and pulled in many directions at once. It clouds your thinking, steals your peace, and tries to choke out your spiritual life with lies that sound like your own voice. The Bible does not use the word ‘octopus’ but it does describe this type of mental attack and calls us to take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) So here are 8 points, or ‘tentacles,’ that can show if you are being oppressed by this spirit. Tentacle #1: You have intrusive thoughts that you did not invite. For example: - You are worship and a blasphemous thought flashes in. - You are driving and a thought tells you to hurt yourself. - You are holding your child and a dark image appears. You feel sick inside and wonder what is wrong with you. James 1:14 shows the enemies entices and whispers. You are not the thoughts you did not invite. Tentacle #2: Every thought turns hopeless. You make one small mistake and your mind jumps to ‘it is over.’ You have one bad day and feel, ‘this is who I am forever.’ If your thoughts keep ending in, ‘there is no point,’ that is a sign of mental oppression. Tentacle #3: You have mental loops that don’t stop. - You replay old conversations nonstop. - You reheard disasters that have not happened. - You wake up at night and relive things you cannot change. You are not processing. You are in torment. The octopus spirit keeps your mind spinning without peace. Tentacle #4: Your thoughts become your identity. You used to think, ‘I am struggling with fear.’ Now you say, ‘I am a fearful person.’ You used to think, ‘I am tempted by lust.’ Now you call yourself a lustful person. The Bible tells you to take thoughts captive, not to wear them as your name. When a repeated thought becomes how you describe yourself, it turns into a stronghold. Tentacle #5: Prayer feels heavy and numbing feels easy. The Bible feels boring, worship feels hollow, and prayer feels dry and heavy. But scrolling, eating, drinking, and binge watching feel effortless. This can be spiritual warfare that pulls you away from what nourishes your spirit and drags you toward what only numbs you. Tentacle #6: You hide and isolate. You start thinking things like: - ‘Do not tell anyone.’ - ‘They will judge me.’ - ‘No one will understand.’ - ‘Handle your problems alone.’ This spirit thrives in secrecy and isolation. The Bible calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other to be healed. (James 5:16) When you think your thoughts into the light, the grip of this spirit begins to loosen. Tentacle #7: You live in mental fog and double mindedness. You feel constant fog in your mind and struggle to focus, pray, and make decisions. Some days you feel close to God, but other days you feel numb and distant. That fog is not from your Father. It is the enemy clouding the water so you cannot see clearly. Tentacle #8: You start giving yourself permission to sin. At first the voice in your head tempts you. Then it starts to sound like permission. - ‘You deserve it.’ - ‘Just do it this once.’ - ‘God will understand.’ - ‘It’s not that serious.’ When your own thoughts start writing permission slips and signing God’s name on them, this is a sign that this spirit is at work. If you see these signs in your life, it does not mean things are hopeless. It means the Holy Spirit is bringing this into the light so Jesus can set you free. Here is what to do: - Come to Jesus and confess that your mind belongs to Him. - Identify the lies and name them out loud as lies. - Replace lies with the truth of Scripture. - Repent of any open doors and invite Jesus to close them. - In the name of Jesus, command every spirit tied to these lies to leave. - Refuse isolation and share honestly with a trusted, mature believer. - Begin to renew your mind daily in the word of God. You do not have to live with this forever. In Christ there is real freedom.

My first life verse came while I was preparing for my driving test on January 8, 2001. I was a new Christian and tried to read through my Bible for the first time. I was 17yrs old and had already failed my first driving test so I was anxious about my second test on the 17th. As I read through the morning plan Matthew 6:19-34 this anxious thought was at the forefront of my mind. At the same time a friend of mine was dealing with health issues and awaiting brain surgery. The very last verse was like God had spoken directly to me. I was also blessed to pass the verse on to my friend and minister to her. Praise God she made a complete recovery. I also passed my driving test. Since then Matthew 6:34 has helped through many storms. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you. Well, well, well, I slept good last night and this morning I had to tell my husband he was right. Ouch. Last night we all made our plans for today and went to bed. He asked me to lay out clothes for him and I reassured him that I would be up when he got up. Well….I woke up when he opened the door to the bedroom. It was 7. He wanted to leave with our youngest son at 7:30. It was a bit of a rush, but we got it done and I told him he was right. He laughed, and I am sure he marked it in his calendar … I do not admit that often. Haha. So, the kids are going to go have some ‘family’ time this morning. My hubby and our youngest son are going to do some early errands and go to breakfast. I am going to get some me time. I got two hours yesterday, and it looks like I will get a couple more today. Having extra bodies in the house is very nice, in that I have lots of help in the driving arena. So, I don’t always have to go and I can get some recharge time. I looked at one of the writing prompt contests that run weekly and I think that I have a good idea for the contest. I will get my next cup of coffee when everyone leaves and see what God puts to paper. Last night I made a goofy me video with the background music of “I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody”. It took a few minutes of figuring out the program, but it came out good. Talking with friends a few times over the last couple of months, I have explained that where I am sitting now is not where I thought I would be. Mind you, I had no idea where I would be, nor did I have grandeur ideas … I had pipe dreams that a bunch of money would miraculously appear and I would be rich without worry … I think most of us have that idea. That never happened, obviously, but what did happen is God gave me a solid work ethic, a job that paid well, and a retirement opportunity that offered me a chance to enjoy my eldering years. Never did I think that I would be a public speaker or an author. Not since 4th grade did I think I would be a teacher. Advocator never was in my thoughts. The one thing that really does not surprise me is that I am an oversized child. My childhood was good, do not misunderstand, but my adult childhood is much funner and funnier. I am truly in tune with my inner child. I really love spending time with my littles and absolutely enjoy making people smile. If you look at your life now … how different is it from what you have envisioned over the years? Are you shocked at where you are? How many different areas have you found you had talent in that you did not know you had talent in? Without changing the struggles or dismissing the struggles … because they are a part of the who, what, when, where and how you are now … what would you change? Many talk about going back to a younger age and knowing what they know now … honestly, I do not want to do anything over again, with one exception…When I was 9, my grandmother invited me to the senior center to have dinner with her … it was family night or something special … I told her yes … then forgot about it. She seemed upset the next day to me and that is the ONLY thing that I would change. What would you change? Or would you change anything? Today I want to encourage you to embrace YOU. Accept the YOU that God has molded you to be. Acknowledge your accomplishments and your talents. Then give thanks to Him who has held your hand through it all. You are perfectly made and specifically designed … do not allow the enemy to tell you any different. Benita's past had brought consequences, but her new life in Christ brought her into a place of divine protection. God did not only save her from physical danger; He also used her to lead one of her attackers to salvation. Your past does not have to determine your future. Have you ever sat down to pray and wondered, “What am I supposed to do right now?” You want to spend time with God, but perhaps you become distracted, repeat the same requests, or feel unsure of where to go next. It doesn’t have to be this way. You can learn to recognize the flow of the Holy Spirit. Here are 7 Streams of Prayer you can follow. Prayer is like a river, and a river has many streams. When you identify those streams, you can better discern what the Holy Spirit is doing in any given moment. When you first learn to drive, every movement requires conscious effort. Eventually, driving becomes natural. Prayer can be similar. When you are first learning to pray, you may wonder what to say next. As you grow, you begin to recognize where the Holy Spirit is leading you. These seven streams of prayer are not boxes you must check every time you pray. Instead, they can help you recognize the different ways prayer can flow. 1. Adoration Adoration is the worship of God. There are moments when you enter prayer and suddenly want to sing, praise, or simply tell Jesus that you love Him. That is prayer. “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” - John 4:24 (NLT) Worship is a response to revelation. When the Holy Spirit breathes upon the truth of who God is, worship rises from within your heart. Do not rush past those moments. If your heart is being drawn toward worship, worship Him. 2. Supplication Supplication means bringing your requests to God. You may need guidance, provision, healing, or help in a difficult situation. Bring those needs to Him. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” - Philippians 4:6 (NLT) You can either worry or pray. Worry is the flesh’s powerless counterfeit for prayer. It is a useless attempt to control something over which you have no control. Take the list of concerns in your mind, give it to God, thank Him for what He has already done, and receive His peace. 3. Confrontation Confrontation refers to spiritual warfare. Scripture teaches that we are engaged in a real spiritual battle, and there are moments when the Holy Spirit will lead you to confront spiritual opposition in prayer. “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” - James 4:7 (NLT) Notice the order: submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee. You do not confront the enemy in your own strength. Submission places you in Christ and under His authority. From that position, you can resist the attacks of the enemy against your mind, family, and spiritual life. Remain aware of the spiritual battle without becoming obsessed with it. Greater is He who lives in you than he who is in the world. 4. Contrition. Contrition is repentance. Repentance is not living under condemnation; it is allowing God to continually change your mind and keep your heart tender toward Him. “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” - 1 John 1:9 (NLT) Sometimes you begin praying and sense that something is wrong. The Holy Spirit may bring an attitude, thought, word, or action to your attention. Respond quickly: “Lord, that was wrong. Forgive me and help me walk differently.” Do not allow small compromises to slowly harden your heart. Let the Holy Spirit remove them while they are still small. 5. Meditation. Meditation means dwelling on the Word of God. The Word gives fuel to your prayer life. “But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” - Psalm 1:2-3 (NLT) If you do not feel inspired to pray, read the Psalms. If you want God to work on your character, read Proverbs. Do not merely read a passage and then forget it. Think about it, repeat it, speak it, and turn it into prayer. You might read that the fruit of the Spirit includes patience. Repeat that truth until it becomes a prayer: “Lord, make me patient.” The Word gives substance and weight to your prayers. It also develops godly desires within you. 6. Intercession. Intercession is praying for other people. “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.” - 1 Timothy 2:1 (NLT) Pray for your family, friends, coworkers, church, and those who do not yet know Jesus. You may not immediately see anything change. The person may even appear to move further away from God. Keep praying. Your prayers are making a difference, even when you cannot see what is happening in the supernatural. Learn to see through the eyes of faith instead of judging only by present circumstances. How many people are following Jesus today because someone prayed for them? If no one in your family has established a legacy of prayer, you can be the first. 7. Appreciation. Appreciation is thanksgiving. “Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name.” - Psalm 100:4 (NLT) Thanksgiving is like the send button on your prayers. You have presented your request, and now you thank God in faith. Ask Him for healing, and then thank Him. Ask Him to deliver you, and then thank Him. Ask Him to save your loved ones, and begin thanking Him for what He is going to do. Imagine the day after the miracle. Picture your loved one worshiping God. See yourself walking in joy, peace, freedom, and courage. Let thanksgiving produce faith and hope within your heart. Final Thoughts Let the Holy Spirit Direct the Flow. These seven streams are not seven boxes you must check every time you pray. The goal is not to worship for five minutes and then force yourself to move to supplication. The goal is to recognize the flow of the Holy Spirit. You might begin by worshiping God. Then a need comes to mind, so you ask Him for help. A Scripture rises in your heart, and you begin meditating on it. Suddenly, you remember someone who needs prayer, and you begin interceding. The prayer flows. As you recognize these streams, you will learn when it is time to move from one to another. Prayer becomes less rigid because you are cooperating with what the Holy Spirit is doing. Remember: prayer is a flow, not a formula.

Gods Creation, 100 / evolution, 0 A new study of daddy longlegs has revealed something you probably wouldn't expect: in some species, Dad spends days guarding his eggs, cleaning them and driving away threats. Researchers studied parental care across 165 species of daddy longlegs, also called harvestmen. These creatures are arachnids, but they aren't actually spiders. The researchers added 85 new records of parental behavior. Of those, 78 showed either male or female parental care, while only seven showed no care. But researchers interpreted these behaviors as having arisen multiple times through evolution. There's an important difference between what was observed and what was assumed about the past. Scientists observed daddy longlegs already caring for their offspring. They didn't observe parental care evolving. Instead, they placed those behaviors onto a proposed evolutionary family tree and used computer models to estimate how that care supposedly arose in ancestors no one observed. And think about what that care requires. A daddy longlegs must recognize and remain near its eggs, detect danger, process what's happening, and respond appropriately. Its senses, nervous system, instincts, and movements must work together. The biblical account gives us a very different starting point. Genesis tells us that God created living creatures “after their kind” and commanded them to “be fruitful, and multiply” (Genesis 1:21–22). These creatures were created with the abilities necessary to reproduce and survive from the beginning. Even a daddy longlegs guarding a tiny cluster of eggs points us back to the wisdom of its Creator. Psalm 104:24 says, “O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all.”

Daily devotion for August 27th Drastic Action I was greatly displeased and threw all Tobiah's household goods out of the room. I gave orders to purify the rooms, and then I put back into them the equipment of the house of God, with the grain offerings and the incense. Nehemiah 13:8-9 The high priest had allowed his grandson to marry the daughter of Sanballat, the governor of Samaria, who was an ally of Tobiah the Ammonite. Both of these were vitriolic, bitter enemies of Nehemiah. This cozy alliance led to an invitation to Tobiah to actually move into the temple itself. To make room for him, the high priest took over the storeroom that was set apart for the grain, oil, and incense used by the Levites in their purification and ritual ceremonies. So there were two wrongs involved. An Ammonite and his family were actually living in the temple, contrary to the Law of Moses; and, they had deliberately defrauded the Levites of their rights of storage. When Nehemiah returned he went into prompt and passionate action. He threw the baggage out, fumigated the room, and returned the oil, grain, and incense to their proper place. Many people feel that he overreacted. Today we do not get upset by the presence of evil and think it strange that a man should act like Nehemiah did. We have lost to a great degree our ability to express outrage and public indignation over things that are wrong. We must remember, however, that this is similar to the incident in the New Testament when Jesus came into the temple and found it filled with moneychangers. Jesus reacted in a way similar to Nehemiah. He made a whip and went around the temple, upsetting tables and driving the moneychangers out. It indicates that there is a time for strong stands against the evils that others have indifferently accepted. Evil invades us quietly. Before we are aware of it, we have compromised and gone along with standards widely accepted. We find the people of God have often been corrupted by this kind of thing. When it comes down to individuals, this is a picture of our struggle with our flesh. We must be prepared to be drastic and take often painful action to clear up the things that are wrong in our own affairs. Many Christians allow evil to take root in their own lives. This story pictures the way these false forces can invade our lives and take up rooms in the very temple of our spirit, polluting and destroying us in the process. Take action. Do not allow these evil things to remain. Even if it takes painful effort to do so, end it! That is what this great story teaches us. Lord, forgive me for the ways in which I allow subtle compromises to creep into my thinking and my choices. Help me to be as ruthless in judging and dealing with my own sin.
