# **DWELLING IN THE SECRET PLACE** There is a difference between **visiting God and living close to God**. Psalm 91:1 says, *“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”* I think of the secret place as that quiet space where you can put everything down for a moment—the things you cannot explain to anyone, the worries you carry into the night, the questions you are afraid to ask out loud. It is where you come before God without pretending that everything is fine. In His presence, you can breathe again. The secret place is not necessarily a particular room, building, or mountain. It is a life of intimacy with God. It may be those early minutes before everyone else wakes up, a quiet corner after a long day, or simply a moment in your car when you turn everything off and talk honestly to God. **To dwell means to remain.** It is more than running to God when life falls apart and then forgetting Him when things become comfortable. It is learning to walk with Him in ordinary days as well as difficult ones. When you make God's presence a regular part of your life, prayer becomes more than an emergency call; it becomes a relationship. Something changes when you spend time with God consistently. Your problems may not disappear overnight, but your perspective begins to change. You become less controlled by fear and less dependent on people's approval. You begin to recognize God's voice, understand His Word more clearly, and make decisions from a place of faith rather than panic. The secret place does not promise a life without trouble; it gives you somewhere to stand when trouble comes. **Psalm 91:2** says, *“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’”* Perhaps you have been trying to carry too much on your own. You have been strong for everyone else, answering messages, solving problems, meeting expectations, and quietly wondering who will strengthen you. **Come back to the secret place.** You don't have to arrive with perfect words. Come tired. Come confused. Come grateful. Come disappointed. Just come. God is not asking you to perform; He is inviting you into His presence. Don't make the secret place somewhere you visit only when you are desperate. **Make it your dwelling.** Let prayer become part of your rhythm. Let Scripture shape your thinking. Let worship quiet your heart. And when the storms come—and they will—you will have something deeper than circumstances to hold onto. **You will know where your strength comes from, where your peace is found, and where you can return when everything around you feels uncertain.**

It should dwell in us—becoming deeply rooted in our thoughts, decisions, character, conversations, relationships, and daily living. Paul also connects God's Word with wisdom, teaching, encouragement, worship, and thanksgiving. When the Word of Christ fills our hearts, it should overflow into the way we treat others and the way we worship God. As August comes to an end, this is an opportunity to reflect: What has filled my heart this month? Have I allowed God's Word to occupy my heart, or have fear, anxiety, disappointment, anger, and worldly distractions taken too much space? Today, let us make room for Christ's Word again. Let His Word correct you. Let His Word encourage you. Let His Word teach you. Let His Word strengthen you. Let His Word give you wisdom. Let His Word produce worship in you. And as you enter September, don't merely carry memories from August—carry God's Word with you. 🔊*Prophetic Declaration:* Today, I declare that the Word of Christ shall dwell richly in me. God's Word shall become deeply rooted in my heart, mind, character, decisions, and daily life. I declare that the Word of God shall give me wisdom beyond my natural understanding. I shall receive divine guidance for every decision and discernment for every circumstance. I proclaim that my mind shall be filled with truth rather than fear, faith rather than doubt, hope rather than discouragement, and gratitude rather than complaining. Today, I declare that every negative influence competing for control of my heart shall lose its power. I choose to make room for God's Word and allow Christ to shape my thoughts and attitudes. I declare that God's Word shall guide my family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, and destiny. Every area of my life shall increasingly come under the influence of His truth. I proclaim that my mouth shall become a source of wisdom, encouragement, correction, comfort, and grace. The words I speak shall build people up rather than tear them down. I declare that God will use me to teach, encourage, counsel, and strengthen others. May the wisdom He gives me become a blessing to my family, church, community, and generation. Today, I receive grace to worship God not only with my lips but with my life. May psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, thanksgiving, and genuine praise continually flow from my heart. I declare that the grace of God shall replace heaviness in my heart with songs of praise. Where there has been sorrow, may God give me renewed strength to worship Him. As this month comes to an end, I declare that I will not carry unnecessary burdens, bitterness, disappointment, or fear into the new month. I release them to God and receive His peace. I proclaim that everything good God has started in my life during August shall continue to grow and produce fruit according to His will. I declare that September shall meet me prepared, spiritually strengthened, wiser, more focused, and more deeply rooted in God's Word. The Word of Christ dwells richly in me. Wisdom fills my heart. Praise fills my mouth. Grace fills my relationships. Faith fills my spirit. And Christ is glorified through my life. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 4:17 NLT With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Good morning and praise God. I hope you are having a good day. Welcome to another devotion message from me, a servant of the Most High God. I would start with problems I've been going through but today's message reminds me I have a higher calling than all my troubles in this life. I am forever grateful to God and He has taught me through good times and also through times of trouble to trust in Him and Him only. I no longer trust what I feel or I know for all that might be a lie. God is always my near help all times and I rejoice in knowing this. Hallelujah. In today's message, that Paul signs with Jesus Christ, we are reminded that we should no longer live as gentiles do, they are hopelessly confused. It is one thing to experience what every person born of a woman experience in life but it is different to live as a chosen one. The chosen one must live differently though he/she goes through same challenges as other human beings. Our life solutions as born again Christians are to be drawn from what God has provided us rather than what our carnality may try to dictate. We are not to treat any matter of our lives separate from our faith. We are not our own but rather a God's project in this world. We are a chosen generation for the Lord's work. Our hope is not in what we have or what we don't have but rather in Christ alone. We pray and revere God not because of what's happening around us but because we hunger to be in a more closer relationship with Him just as children runs to be in the arms of their Father. Take a moment today and put down all that which has been pressing you down at Jesus' feet. Offload that burden and look up to where God is and find your solace, comfort, peace, joy in your Father in Heaven.If God be for you, what can a mere man do to you? Jesus had just finished a great work, yet He knew the importance of stepping away from the crowd to spend time with the Father. This teaches us that spiritual strength is renewed in God's presence. There are times when we are surrounded by people, responsibilities, activities, ministry, work, family demands, and countless distractions. But we must intentionally create moments of quietness where we can withdraw from the noise and draw near to God. Prayer is not only for moments of crisis. We need God's presence after victories as much as we need Him during battles. Today, don't allow busyness to rob you of your secret place. Go up to your mountain. Pray. Be still. Listen. ✝️ THE GOSPEL FROM CALVARY 📅 Friday, 28th August, 2026 👁️ JESUS: THE LIGHT THAT OPENS BLIND EYES ✝️🔥 📜 TEXT: JOHN 9:1–41 📜 🔑📖 KEY VERSE: «“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” — John 9:5 (KJV)» John 9 introduces us to a man who had been blind from birth. His blindness had become the subject of questions and assumptions. The disciples asked Jesus whether the man's blindness was caused by his own sin or the sin of his parents. But Jesus redirected their attention from blame to God's purpose. He said: «“Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” — John 9:3» Jesus then healed the man. But the miracle did more than open physical eyes. It revealed a deeper truth: Jesus came to open spiritual eyes and lead people from darkness into His marvelous light. 🕯️❤️‍🔥 🔥 THREE LESSONS FROM JOHN 9 1️⃣ DON'T ALLOW YOUR PAST CONDITION TO DEFINE YOUR FUTURE. 🌿 The man had been blind from birth. His condition had existed for years, but Jesus was not limited by how long the problem had lasted. Some situations may look permanent to people, but they are not beyond the power of God. You may have struggled with something for years. You may have experienced repeated disappointments. You may have been told that nothing can change. But remember: Jesus is still able to change lives. Don't allow your history to become your identity. Don't allow people's opinions to become your destiny. Keep trusting Christ. 👁️ 2️⃣ JESUS OPENS BOTH PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL EYES. ✝️ Jesus gave sight to the blind man, but the greater miracle was the man's growing understanding of who Jesus was. At first, he referred to Jesus as: “a man.” Later, he recognized Him as a prophet. Eventually, he worshipped Jesus. His physical eyes were opened, but his spiritual understanding also grew. This is what Jesus wants to do in our lives. He wants us to see: 👁️ His truth. 👁️ His purpose. 👁️ His holiness. 👁️ His love. 👁️ His identity. There are people who can see physically but remain spiritually blind. Ask Jesus to open your spiritual eyes. 🙏🏽🔥 ⚠️ 3️⃣ DON'T LET RELIGION PREVENT YOU FROM RECOGNIZING GOD'S WORK. The religious leaders saw the miracle, but instead of celebrating, they questioned it. They were more concerned about their religious expectations than the man who had received his sight. This is a serious warning. Sometimes people can become so attached to traditions, opinions, and personal expectations that they fail to recognize what God is doing. Don't let pride blind you. Don't let tradition blind you. Don't let jealousy blind you. Don't let bitterness blind you. Don't let familiarity blind you. Keep your heart humble before God. 🔥 THE MAN REFUSED TO DENY HIS TESTIMONY When the religious leaders questioned him, the healed man simply declared what he knew: «“One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” — John 9:25» What a powerful testimony! He did not have answers to every theological argument. But he knew what Jesus had done for him. As believers, we should never be ashamed of our testimony. You may not know how to answer every question. You may not understand everything about God. But you can testify: “I was lost, but Jesus found me.” “I was broken, but Jesus restored me.” “I was in darkness, but Jesus brought me into His light.” Your testimony can point someone to Christ. 🌍✝️ ❤️‍🔥 DON'T BE AFRAID TO STAND FOR JESUS The healed man was eventually rejected because he refused to deny the One who healed him. His testimony cost him something. Following Jesus will sometimes require courage. People may misunderstand you. People may criticize your faith. People may reject your convictions. But don't abandon Christ to gain human acceptance. Stand for Jesus. The One who opened your eyes is worth following. 🔥 🕯️ SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN PHYSICAL BLINDNESS At the end of the chapter, Jesus confronted those who claimed to see but refused to recognize Him. Physical blindness can limit your ability to see the world. But spiritual blindness can keep you from seeing the truth about God. Therefore, pray: “Lord, open my eyes.” Open my eyes to Your Word. Open my eyes to my weaknesses. Open my eyes to Your purpose. Open my eyes to the needs of others. Open my eyes to opportunities to serve You. Open my eyes to the truth of the Gospel. 👑 JESUS IS STILL THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD Jesus declared: «“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” — John 9:5» Where Jesus is present, darkness does not have the final word. He brings light into confusion. He brings hope into despair. He brings forgiveness to sinners. He brings direction to the lost. He brings spiritual sight to those who believe. Walk with Jesus, and don't return to darkness. 🕯️🔥 ✍🏽 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When Jesus opens your eyes, don't return to the darkness you once lived in. Walk in His light, stand by your testimony, and help others see Christ. ✝️🔥 🙏🏽 PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. Lord, open my spiritual eyes. Help me to see Your truth clearly and recognize Your purpose for my life. Where I have been spiritually blind, give me understanding. Where I have been confused, give me direction. Where I have allowed sin to darken my heart, bring me back into Your light. Give me courage like the man in John 9 to stand firmly for Christ and testify about what You have done in my life. Help me never to allow people's opinions to silence my faith. Use my testimony to lead others to Jesus. May I continually walk in Your light and reflect that light to the world around me. The Cross of Calvary looked like the end. Jesus had been crucified. His body had been placed in a tomb. His disciples were afraid and confused. But early on the first day of the week, something happened that changed history forever: THE TOMB WAS EMPTY! ✝️🔥 Jesus Christ rose from the dead. The One who died for our sins conquered death and rose again in victory. The resurrection is not merely a celebration—it is the foundation of our hope. 🔥 THREE TRUTHS FROM JOHN 20 1️⃣ THE TOMB IS EMPTY. 🌅✝️ When Mary Magdalene came to the tomb, she discovered that the stone had been removed. Jesus was no longer there. Death could not hold Him. The grave could not keep Him. The stone could not stop Him. Jesus is alive! This means our faith is not built around a dead religious leader. We serve a living Saviour. «“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore.” — Revelation 1:18» Because He lives, our hope is alive. 2️⃣ JESUS BRINGS PEACE TO TROUBLED HEARTS. ❤️‍🩹 The disciples were gathered behind closed doors because they were afraid. Then Jesus appeared among them and said: «“Peace be unto you.” — John 20:19» What a powerful message! The disciples were afraid, but Jesus brought peace. They were confused, but Jesus brought clarity. They had witnessed His death, but now they were witnessing His resurrection. Jesus still speaks peace into troubled hearts today. When fear surrounds you, remember: Jesus is alive. When uncertainty overwhelms you, remember: Jesus is with you. When life becomes difficult, remember: Your Saviour has already conquered death. 3️⃣ FAITH MUST LEAD US TO BELIEVE AND WORSHIP. 🙏🏽 Thomas struggled to believe that Jesus had risen until he saw Him. When Jesus appeared to him, Thomas declared: «“My Lord and my God.” — John 20:28» Thomas moved from doubt to declaration. From uncertainty to worship. From questioning to conviction. Jesus then said: «“Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” — John 20:29» We may not have physically seen the risen Christ, but we can believe through the testimony of Scripture. Faith means trusting God even when we cannot see everything. 🌿 TODAY'S REFLECTION The resurrection changes everything. Because Jesus rose: Our hope is alive. Our faith is alive. Our salvation is secure in Him. Our future is not controlled by death. Therefore, do not live like someone whose Saviour is still in the grave. Walk with confidence. Pray with faith. Serve with joy. Share the Gospel boldly. When the world says there is no hope, remember the empty tomb. When circumstances say it is finished, remember that Jesus specializes in bringing life out of what appears to be dead. The Cross was not the end. The grave was not the end. RESURRECTION WAS THE VICTORY! 🔥 Because He lives, you can face tomorrow. Because He lives, you can overcome fear. Because He lives, you can have hope. Because He lives, those who believe in Him have the promise of eternal life. 🙏🏽 PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for raising Jesus Christ from the dead. Amazing Facts Daily Devotionals How did the Israelites know how to behave before the Ten Commandments were given? August 28th, 2026 God’s law is eternal. Since sin is the transgression of the law and sin existed before Sinai, then there must have been a law before the time of Moses. In Genesis, you can actually find some of the commandments spoken about before Sinai. For example, see Genesis 35:1–4 for a reference to the first commandment. In addition, it was transmitted orally from person to person. However, by the time of Moses, after the people had been in slavery under Egypt, and thereby under the influence of a pagan religion, their memory had been corrupted and diluted. That’s why Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible, so his people would not be confused. Of course, God ultimately wrote the Ten Commandments so there would never have to be any guessing about what’s right and wrong. To show this point: Long before Moses wrote the Ten Commandments onto scrolls, God said to Cain, “If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door” (Genesis 4:7). The Bible also records, “Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws” (Genesis 26:5). Joseph also knew it was a sin to commit adultery with Potiphar’s wife. He said, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9). He evidently knew adultery was a sin before the Ten Commandments were written. It had been passed on to him, so he knew God’s law. Originally, God’s law went from Adam orally, straight out of the garden of Eden, to become part of the oral tradition. Moreover, Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, so they knew their Father’s character, which is revealed in the Ten Commandments. They passed this knowledge to their offspring, but because of man’s failing memory, they eventually had to write it down.

ARE YOU EVER DISTURBED? — “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you.” — John 14:27 Sometimes we have peace simply because we do not yet understand what is happening. But when trouble comes and we see the reality of life, we discover that true peace can only come from Jesus. Jesus does not merely talk about peace—He gives peace. His peace is not dependent on circumstances; it comes from trusting Him. Are you disturbed right now? Are you overwhelmed by problems, uncertainty, disappointment, or sorrow? Perhaps you have prayed but still cannot find peace. Look to Jesus. Jesus Himself was not controlled by the storms around Him. When we look to Him, His calmness begins to influence our hearts. One sign that we are right with God is that we can still turn our attention toward Him even in difficult circumstances. But when we are not walking closely with Him, we become consumed with ourselves, our problems, and our fears. Ask yourself: Am I looking at my problem more than I am looking at Jesus? When we try to solve everything through worry, we lose sight of Christ. But when we bring the matter before Him, our perplexity begins to disappear because Jesus is never confused or overwhelmed. Whatever you are facing today—difficulty, loss, disappointment, uncertainty, or sorrow—bring it to Jesus. “Let not your heart be troubled.” Your circumstances may not change immediately, but Jesus can give you His peace in the middle of them.

August 28, 2026 (day 240/365) FRIDAY GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY “Trust God’s Unchanging Word” Psalm 12:6 “The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” This is the Word of God. Psalm 12 describes a world filled with falsehood, flattering lips, and deceitful words. In contrast, David points us to the pure and trustworthy words of the Lord. Human words can change, promises can be broken, and opinions can deceive, but God’s Word remains true. We live in a time when we hear countless voices telling us what to believe and how to live. If we listen to every voice around us, we can easily become confused. Therefore, we need an unchanging foundation. God’s Word does not need improvement or correction. It has been tested and proven trustworthy. When everything around us changes, we can still stand firmly on what God has spoken.
