➡️ What comes before and after the verse?
➡️ How does this passage fit into the larger story of Scripture?
➡️ How should this truth change the way I live? Paul told Timothy to work hard so that he could correctly explain the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15, NLT). Bible study should move us beyond simply reading Scripture toward truly understanding and applying it. READ.

🌿 A Future of Peace Under the Reign of God — Micah 4:1–5 Micah had just confronted corruption, injustice, and failed leadership. https://patrickryanlewis.com/2026/08/20/a-future-of-peace-under-the-reign-of-god/ Then, in Micah 4, the picture suddenly changes. He sees a day when people are drawn to God, nations seek His instruction, weapons of war are turned into tools of cultivation, and people live securely without fear. Why? Because God is reigning. Micah 4 reminds us that our ultimate hope is not found in better politics, stronger institutions, greater wealth, or humanity finally figuring everything out. Our hope is in the righteous reign of God and in Jesus Christ, the King who will make all things right. But this passage also challenges us today. If God’s kingdom is our future, then His ways should shape how we live in the present. We should seek His Word.
We should pursue peace.
We should practice justice.
We should resist fear.

Rulers were influenced by bribes. Priests allowed money to shape their ministry. Prophets pursued personal gain. Yet they still confidently believed that because the Lord was among them, judgment could never come. They confused God’s presence with God’s approval. That warning still matters today. Church attendance, ministry involvement, biblical knowledge, giving, leadership positions, and years of Christian service are all valuable—but none of them can replace genuine obedience to God. Micah forces us to ask some difficult questions: Where has money, comfort, approval, or influence begun affecting our decisions? Are we willing to obey God when obedience becomes costly? Are we using religious activity as evidence that everything in our spiritual lives must be okay? And perhaps most importantly: What has God entrusted to me, and am I handling it faithfully? We have been entrusted with the truth of God. We are called to know it. Live it. Guard it. Proclaim it. And faithfully pass it to the next generation. The Church does not create truth. God has already spoken. Our responsibility is to stand firmly on His Word while pointing people toward Jesus. And in a world where beliefs seem to change almost daily, the Church desperately needs Christians who are grounded, faithful, humble, loving, and unwilling to compromise the Gospel. What have you already decided you will not compromise? Before the great public tests of his faith ever came, Daniel had already settled something in his heart: his loyalty belonged to God. That same decision matters for us today. Our culture constantly pressures us to blend in, stay quiet, lower our standards, and treat biblical conviction as unnecessary. But faithfulness to Christ means deciding that God’s Word will have greater authority in our lives than popularity, convenience, opportunity, or cultural approval. The small decisions matter. Integrity matters.
Truth matters.
Holiness matters.
