I’ve been quietly working on something over the past couple of weeks, and it’s finally finished. 😊 I’ve uploaded my complete 7-part series, “What Does God Want?” to YouTube. It sounds like such a simple question. But depending on our religious background, many of us have absorbed very different answers. Does God want us to try harder? Be better? Do more? Keep more rules? Prove our faithfulness? And where do obedience, discipleship, good works, surrender, and perseverance fit if salvation really is by grace? Those are the questions I explore in this series. This subject is especially close to my heart because I spent many years in a religious system where grace and works became tangled together. After leaving Mormonism, I had to go back to Scripture and rethink some very basic questions I thought I already understood. And what I discovered was not a Christianity with lower expectations. It was something much better: grace comes first. We don’t obey in order to become accepted by God. We obey because, through Jesus, we already are.
