THE POWER TO BEGIN AGAIN There is a kind of glory God places on a life that redefines everything that came before. It’s not that your past didn’t happen—it’s that it no longer has the power to define your identity or limit your future. That’s the power to begin again. Many people feel trapped by what they've done, where they've been, or what was done to them. Regret becomes a ceiling; shame becomes a cage. But when God steps in, He doesn’t just patch up your past—He floods your present with healing and purpose so bright that the pain of yesterday loses its voice. Think of Paul. He was a persecutor turned preacher, a man with a violent past who became a vessel of grace. He said in Philippians 3:13, “One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.” God gave him something greater to reach for than what was behind him. The Lord wants to change your life and flood it with a transformative glory that no one will associate you with your past. BECAUSE WE ARE LOVED The life of salvation does not begin with our pursuit of God—it begins with God's pursuit of us. Long before we ever thought about loving Him, He had already chosen us, loved us, and made a way for us through Christ. When you received Jesus, it was not an act of your initiative—it was a response to love. You didn't earn it. You didn’t find Him. He found you. That moment of salvation was your heart answering the call of grace. This life of salvation must continue in the same spirit in which it began: as a response to His love. Our prayer life, worship, obedience, service, and holiness must flow from a heart that is overwhelmed by how deeply we are loved by God. It's easy to drift into striving—to try and prove our love for God through performance, rituals, or comparison. But God is not impressed with performance. What moves His heart is relationship. He is not looking for us to do more to earn His love; He’s longing for us to abide more deeply in the love that’s already ours. This is the secret of a joyful Christian life: not focusing on how much you love God, but on how much He loves you—and allowing every part of your life to be a grateful, wholehearted response. PHANEROO~DEVOTION Sunday, 22nd June 2025 Apostle Grace Lubega Matthew 21:44 (NIV): Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed. THE NEW COVENANT: A LIFE OF BROKENNESS At Mount Sinai, God gave Moses the first covenant — commandments carved into stone. It was a covenant of law, perfect in its holiness, yet impossible for sinful humanity to uphold. The law revealed God's righteous standard, but it could not empower the people to live by it. In fact, it only highlighted their inability and pointed out their guilt (Romans 3:20). Israel broke the first covenant — again and again. The law stood firm, but it could not transform the hearts of the people. It was external, rigid, and ultimately brought condemnation, not life. Then came the second covenant, not written on tablets of stone, but written on human hearts through the Spirit (Jeremiah 31:33; 2 Corinthians 3:3). This covenant was ushered in by Jesus Christ — not only the mediator but the very cornerstone of the new and living way. In our theme scripture, Jesus speaks of Himself as the stone: "Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed." What a sobering and holy truth. The first covenant was broken by men. But in the new covenant, it is men who are broken by the Stone — Christ Himself. To fall upon Jesus in faith is to be broken — broken of pride, of self-reliance, of sin. This is not a destructive breaking, but a redemptive one. No one who has truly encountered Jesus remains the same. You cannot meet the crucified and risen Lord and still cling to your ego. He humbles the proud. He breaks — and then rebuilds. Hallelujah! PHANEROO~DEVOTION [Saturday, 21st June 2025] Apostle Grace Lubega Title: CHRIST, THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW Exodus 32:19 (KJV): And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. When Moses descended Mount Sinai carrying the stone tablets written by the very finger of God, he bore in his hands the perfect standard of divine holiness. But what he saw—Israel dancing around a golden calf—was a jarring contrast to the purity of God’s law. In righteous grief and holy indignation, Moses cast the tablets to the ground, breaking them at the base of the mountain. This was no mere emotional outburst. It was a physical demonstration of a spiritual reality: God's perfect standard would be broken by men. The law was holy, but humanity was not. Before the commandments could even be delivered, they had already been violated. This moment signified that no man could achieve the righteousness that God requires. The law, in all its purity, only highlighted man’s inability to meet it. The breaking of the tablets was a mirror for every generation—a declaration that human strength, discipline, or willpower could never attain God's holiness. “By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16). Our best efforts fall short, for “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But praise God that where man failed, Christ fulfilled. He met every demand of God’s law in flawless obedience, then bore the curse of its violation at the cross. In Him, the standard was not lowered—it was met and completed. Do you find yourself trying to earn God’s approval through your efforts? Are you discouraged by the weight of your own failure? Remember: Christ met the standard you could never reach.
