The chapter records David’s sons, the kings who followed him, and the continuation of the royal family after the Babylonian exile. Although it consists largely of names, it carries a powerful message about God’s faithfulness to His covenant. The chapter begins with the sons born to David during his reign in Hebron and Jerusalem. David’s family history includes both blessing and brokenness. Some of his sons became connected with painful moments of rebellion, rivalry, and personal tragedy. Yet God’s redemptive purposes continued even through an imperfect household. The genealogy then follows the royal line through Solomon. God had promised David that his house, kingdom, and throne would be established according to His covenant purpose. Solomon became the immediate heir to that promise, but the covenant pointed beyond him toward a greater and eternal King. As the names of Judah’s kings are recorded, the chapter quietly summarizes generations of leadership. Some kings followed the Lord faithfully, while others led the nation into compromise and idolatry. Their reigns differed greatly, but God continued preserving the royal line. The covenant remained secure, not because every descendant was faithful, but because God was faithful. The genealogy continues through the Babylonian exile. Jerusalem had fallen, the temple had been destroyed, and the visible kingdom of David appeared to have ended. Yet the family line continued. Even in exile, God preserved the descendants through whom His promise would ultimately be fulfilled. This demonstrates that exile did not cancel God’s covenant. Human failure brought discipline and loss, but it could not overturn the Lord’s redemptive plan. What appeared to be the end of the kingdom was only another stage in God’s preparation for the coming Messiah. Theologically, 1 Chronicles 3 reveals God’s sovereign preservation of the Davidic line. Earthly kings failed, kingdoms declined, and the nation entered captivity, yet God’s promise remained alive. His covenant depended upon His own faithfulness rather than the strength or righteousness of human rulers. This chapter points directly to Jesus Christ, the promised Son of David. He is the true heir to David’s throne and the King whose reign will never end. The royal genealogy preserved through exile ultimately leads to Christ, in whom every promise concerning David’s kingdom finds complete fulfillment. For believers today, 1 Chronicles 3 reminds us that God’s promises remain secure even when circumstances appear hopeless. Human failure, national instability, and seasons of discipline cannot destroy what God has determined to accomplish. In Christ, we belong to an eternal kingdom ruled by the faithful King. We can trust that the God who preserved His promise through generations will remain faithful in every season of our lives. 1 Chronicles 4 God’s Grace Among Ordinary People 1 Chronicles 4 continues the genealogical record of Judah and also traces the descendants of Simeon. The chapter contains many names unfamiliar to modern readers, yet each one represents a person, family, occupation, and place remembered within the history of God’s covenant people. The chapter reminds us that God’s work is carried forward not only through famous kings and prophets but also through ordinary individuals and families. Among the genealogy appears the brief account of Jabez. His name is connected with pain, but his life is not controlled by that beginning. Jabez calls upon the God of Israel, asking for blessing, enlarged influence, divine guidance, and protection from evil. God grants his request. The account of Jabez does not teach that prayer is a formula for personal prosperity. Instead, it reveals a man who recognizes his complete dependence upon God. He does not rely upon his background, strength, or family position. He asks the Lord to direct his future and keep him from the evil that could bring further sorrow. His story demonstrates that a difficult beginning does not have to determine a person’s future. God’s grace is greater than the circumstances surrounding our birth, family history, or past experiences. When people seek Him sincerely, He is able to lead them beyond the limitations others may place upon them. The chapter also mentions craftsmen, potters, workers, leaders, and families who occupied particular towns and fulfilled practical responsibilities. These details reveal that ordinary work has value within God’s purposes. Service does not need to be publicly recognized to matter to the Lord. The descendants of Simeon are also described as seeking land for their flocks and defeating enemies who occupied the territory. Their account reflects the importance of courage, diligence, and acting upon the opportunities God provides. They did not remain passive but worked together to establish a place for their families. At the same time, the chapter must be understood within the unfolding history of Israel. These families were living within the covenant structure God had established for His people. Their victories, settlements, occupations, and family lines all formed part of the larger story leading toward the kingdom of David and ultimately toward Christ. Theologically, 1 Chronicles 4 reveals that God works through both prominent and ordinary people. He hears prayer, directs families, gives meaningful work, and uses faithful lives within His redemptive plan. The chapter also demonstrates that identity is not determined merely by pain or human circumstances but by God’s grace and calling. This chapter points to Christ, who brings people into a new identity that is not controlled by their past. Ephesians 4 — Walking Worthy of the Calling in the Christ Ephesians chapter 4 marks the transition from the doctrinal truths of the first half of the letter to the practical application of those truths. Having explained all that believers possess through the Christ, the Son of God, Paul now calls them to live in a manner worthy of their calling. Christian living is the natural response to God's redemptive plan. The believer's conduct should reflect the grace, unity, and holiness that have already been provided through the Christ. The chapter begins with an appeal to walk worthy of the calling believers have received. This worthy walk is characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, and love. These qualities reflect the character of the Son of God and preserve the unity of His Church. The redemptive plan has brought believers into one family, and Christian living seeks to protect that unity through selfless love rather than personal ambition. Paul emphasizes that there is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father. This repeated emphasis on oneness reveals that unity is not created by believers but given by God through the Christ. The Son of God has already made His people one, and they are now called to live consistently with that reality. The chapter also teaches that the Christ has given spiritual gifts to His Church. These gifts are not for personal recognition but for equipping believers, strengthening the body, and advancing God's kingdom. The redemptive plan includes the growth and maturity of the Church as every believer faithfully serves according to the grace given by the Son of God. Christian living is never passive; every believer has a meaningful role in building up the body of Christ. The chapter describes this transformation as putting off the old self and putting on the new self. This new life reflects God's righteousness and holiness because it is created through the work of the Christ. Believers are called to speak truthfully, control anger, work honestly, use words that encourage rather than destroy, show kindness, forgive one another, and avoid attitudes that grieve the Holy Spirit. Every area of life is to reflect the grace believers have received through the Son of God. Christian living is demonstrated not only in public worship but also in ordinary conversations, relationships, and daily choices. The chapter concludes with one of its greatest exhortations: believers are to forgive one another because God has forgiven them in the Christ. For believers today, this chapter reminds us that our conduct should reflect our calling in the Christ. MINISTERS OF THE ALTAR OF GOD SERVING GOD WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING Beloved, you and I were called to serve God with fear and trembling. Say: Amen! What a great privilege it is to be called by God! We were not called only to receive salvation. We were also called to serve. You may not be able to imagine the honor and privilege of being a servant of the living God. God loved the whole world. He called people from all nations. And among those who believed, many were reached by salvation. But in the midst of this multitude of saved people, God also chose some to perform specific functions in His Kingdom. Say: Amen! All those who are saved are servants of God. But there are those who were specifically called to certain services within the work. Some are workers, others are pastors, others teachers, others evangelists, others prophets, and others were called to different ministries and responsibilities. God distributed the gifts and offices according to His will, so that each one could work in His harvest. Say: Amen! And Paul teaches us that each person should remain in the calling to which they were called. Whoever was called to give, let them give. Whoever was called to comfort, let them comfort. Whoever was called to teach, let them teach. Whoever was called to preach, let them preach. Each one must faithfully fulfill what God has placed in their hands. Because no one did anything to deserve being chosen. Neither for salvation nor for service. It is all by the grace of God. Say: Amen! Therefore, serving the living God is an extraordinary privilege. We are not serving just any god. We are serving the living God, in the living Church. And this must make a difference in the way we serve. We cannot treat the things of God as a joke, as something ordinary or unimportant. Unfortunately, when people lose the fear of God, Christian service can become entertainment. The church begins to be treated as a place of shows, celebrations, conferences, congresses, and activities that, many times, cease to put God at the center. But the living Church needs servants who have fear, reverence, zeal, and responsibility before the work of God. Say: Amen! Serving God with fear and trembling means understanding that what we are doing is holy and important. We need to have zeal for the work. We need to have responsibility for what God has placed in our hands. We need to respect the calling. We need to respect the Word. We need to respect the house of God and the people of God. We cannot play with what God considers serious. Say: Amen! The time of childishness, of playing around, and of lack of responsibility needs to end. The time has come to mature. The time has come to understand the weight of the responsibility we have received. If God has called us, let us serve. If God has entrusted us with a work, let us take care of it. If God has given us a responsibility, let us fulfill it faithfully. Because the privilege of serving the living God also requires fear and trembling. May we never lose the fear of God. May we never lose our zeal for His work. May we never treat as ordinary what God has made holy. And may we, until the last day, be able to say: “Lord, everything that You placed in my hands, I sought to fulfill faithfully.” Say: Amen! BY: PROPHET ELIJAH

God's Favor Meets Faithful Obedience Scripture Ruth 2:12 (NKJV) The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge. God's Providence in Ordinary Moments Ruth 2 beautifully reveals how God works behind the scenes to accomplish His purposes. After arriving in Bethlehem with Naomi, Ruth did not wait for life to become easier. Instead, she went into the fields to glean grain, following God's provision for the poor. Her willingness to work demonstrated both humility and faith. The Bible says that Ruth "happened" to come to the field belonging to Boaz. From a human perspective it appeared to be a coincidence, but from God's perspective it was divine providence. The Lord was quietly directing every step of Ruth's journey, leading her exactly where she needed to be. Boaz noticed Ruth's character before he noticed anything else. He had already heard about her faithfulness to Naomi and her decision to leave her homeland in order to trust the God of Israel. Rather than taking advantage of her vulnerability, Boaz showed compassion, generosity, protection, and kindness. He instructed his workers to leave extra grain for her and invited her to eat with his servants. Boaz's blessing in verse 12 reveals the heart of the chapter. Ruth had placed herself under the wings of the Lord for refuge. She had left behind everything familiar to trust the living God, and God was already providing for her through His unseen hand. Ruth could not yet see the full plan that God was unfolding. She simply remained faithful in the responsibilities before her. Yet every ordinary act of obedience became part of God's extraordinary plan of redemption. Believers often wonder whether God is working when life seems ordinary. Ruth 2 reminds us that God's providence is frequently hidden within everyday moments. The conversations we have, the places we go, the work we faithfully perform, and the people we meet may all be part of His greater purpose. God's guidance is often seen more clearly in hindsight than in the moment. Our responsibility is not to understand every detail of His plan but to remain faithful where He has placed us. Reflection Questions 1. Am I faithfully serving God in the ordinary responsibilities He has given me? 2. Do I trust that God is directing my steps even when I cannot see His plan? 3. How have I experienced God's provision in unexpected ways? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithful provision and for working behind the scenes in my life. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing. Give me a humble and faithful heart like Ruth, willing to serve You in the ordinary moments of life. Lead my steps according to Your perfect will, and help me rest under the refuge of Your loving care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your judgement of correction is now set — now subjected on you — this is order of God — Ezek 18:30 — Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. This is not accident — this is ORDER on you. And hear warning: This punishment to you will be harsher than that subjected on His house. Luke 12:47-48 — that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare... shall be beaten with many stripes. For everyone to whom much is given, much will be required. To His house — bleach hedge — wound — but spare life — to preserve for calling. IF YOU REFUSE — JUDGEMENT OF DESTRUCTION FOLLOWS If you refuse to repent now in this correction — judgement of destruction is already appointed. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God. For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Daily devotion for August 26th Giving Cheerfully From the fields around the towns they were to bring into the storerooms the portions required by the Law for the priests and the Levites, for Judah was pleased with the ministering priests and Levites. Nehemiah 12:44b Those offerings and contributions were given with pleasure. The Scriptures carefully inform us that offerings mean nothing if they are not given cheerfully. If you are not giving with pleasure, God does not want your gift. He does not care how big or small it is. If all you are after is to make an impression on others by the size of your gift, God is not interested in that. Jesus told of a widow who put two tiny pieces of money into the treasury, saying that she had given more than all that the rich people had cast in that day. God would pick up that insignificant amount and use it more mightily than He would the larger gifts of the wealthy. What God looks for always is a note of pleasure, of delight, of cheerfully returning funds to him out of a thankful heart. Dr. H. A. Ironside used to tell the story of an old Scotsman who inadvertently dropped a gold sovereign in the collection bag at a church service. In Scotland, when the ushers take up the offering, they use a long pole with a bag on the end of it, which they pass among the pews. This old Scotsman put in a gold sovereign by mistake when he meant to put in only a shilling. As soon as he realized his mistake, he tried to retrieve his sovereign. But the usher pulled the bag back and said, Nah, once in, always in! The old man said, Ah well, I'll get credit for it in glory. The usher replied, Nah, you'll get credit for the shilling! That is all the old man intended to give. So we are to give as God has given, freely and gladly. The closing sentence of this paragraph says, They also set aside the portion for the other Levites. They were careful to take care of others who were not able to be there or who were busy performing and therefore did not have opportunity to share in the offerings. This is a beautiful picture of the oneness of the nation of Israel. God was constantly seeking to teach these people that they belonged to each other. They were not individualists, doing their own thing, but they were workers together with God. I do not know any truth that is more important in the body of Christ than to recognize that God uses people different from us. We must recognize that our way of serving God is not the only way but that we belong to and need one another. Father, thank You that out of the abundance of what You have given to me, I can give to others, knowing that You will continue to provide for my needs.

LOST IN THE CHURCH [BEING LOST IN CHURCH] Part Eight The Name of Jesus There are many things that are closely associated with the Lord Jesus, and some have even been given His great name. However, people need to understand that these things are not Jesus Himself. Therefore, building one's faith upon such things or worshipping them can be a great deception. Being close to the Lord, or even being called by His great name, does not necessarily mean that something is worthy of our worship. This means that a person can become lost before the Lord—or even become lost in church. Satan spent all his time in the presence of the Lord, enjoying His glory, beauty, and blessings; nevertheless, he fell. Judas Iscariot was privileged to eat at the Lord's table. He heard the profound wisdom and extraordinary words that the prophets of old longed to hear; yet he also perished. This happened because they gave created things the place that belonged to the Lord. The name of Jesus is an extraordinary gift given to the true Church throughout the world for salvation. However, we must understand that Satan has also been permitted to use that very same name on earth for evil purposes and destruction. Therefore, the Church must be extremely careful. Not everyone who mentions the name of Jesus Christ, or identifies themselves by that name, is from God. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is truly a Christian in their heart. Not every institution that bears the name of the Lord has come from God. One of the greatest things I have observed in this world is that the Lord Himself can bless an institution, a church, a person, or a thing without actually dwelling in it. And that is one of the saddest dangers! Remember Ishmael, the son of Abraham. God blessed him even though he was not the one through whom God's covenant purpose would be fulfilled. > Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!” Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.” Genesis 17:18–20 And concerning Ishmael, Scripture clearly says that the son of the slave woman will never share the inheritance with the son of the free woman. Read Galatians 4:30. The meaning here is that the Lord blessed a person who would nevertheless not inherit eternal life together with the children of God through the covenant represented by Isaac. My brothers and sisters, among the most frightening forms of deception taking place in the Church in these last days is the misuse of the name of Jesus. If a person cannot discern the spirit behind every minister who comes before them, then they are already in serious danger. > “For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:5 One of the difficult statements in the Bible that I thought I understood well—but which took me many years to understand properly—is this statement in Matthew 24:5. For a long time, I thought those false ministers would come in His name claiming that they themselves were Christ. But that is not necessarily what the Lord meant. The correct meaning is that these false ministers would come in His name while openly acknowledging that He—Jesus—is the Christ. They would not necessarily claim to be Christ themselves. In simple terms, these false ministers would come into the world confessing that Jesus is Lord and Savior, and they would use the name of Jesus in their ministries, yet they would actually be agents of Satan. Do you see how dangerous that is? What makes it even worse is that we have often interpreted this Scripture incorrectly. But the Lord said, “many will come.” He did not say a few would come. He said many. And notice that He did not say these people would belong to only one particular category—such as prophets, apostles, or miracle workers. Therefore, we should understand that He was warning about many different kinds of ministers: prophets, apostles, teachers, pastors, evangelists, miracle workers and those who do not perform miracles; those leading large churches and those leading small churches, and so on. I say this because there has been a deception among people who think they only need to fear miracle workers, false prophets, large-church leaders, or apostles. But beloved, let me tell you something: in my experience, one of the greatest forms of deception I have seen in the Church is being under a false pastor. And may God help me as I say this! Deception does not exist in only one place. Everyone can be prepared for a particular kind of deception—according to what they believe, what they understand, and what they are looking for. There is no weapon that is always used from a distance. Scripture says: > “A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” Matthew 10:36 If you fear today's miracles, false prophets, apostles of anointing oil, and similar things, you are certainly right to be cautious. But understand this: those may be weapons that are too distant for someone like you. Satan, who is full of cunning and deception, a master of lies and the father of much deception, may never use such obvious weapons to trap someone like you. Instead, he may send you a false pastor who performs no miracles at all, someone whose ministry perfectly matches your beliefs, so that you can trust him completely. Then you may gradually be fed false teachings that have no life—teachings that have an outward appearance of godliness and reverence for God, yet are built upon false wisdom that contradicts the power and priorities of the Holy Spirit. That, my brother and sister, is where you can truly become lost. Also understand clearly that the false ministers I am speaking about can be of two kinds. There are those who have consciously made an agreement with Satan and therefore know exactly what they are doing. And there are those who do not even realize that they are false ministers. They themselves have been deceived by false teachings. They are also products of false teachers. Many of these are the religious leaders of our time—the Pharisees of the Pharisees of this generation. And these can be among the most dangerous people, because they were the very kind of religious leaders who even participated in the rejection and crucifixion of the Lord. Let’s look at the third temptation Jesus faced: ‘…The devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me’’’ (Matthew 4:8-9 NKJV). Satan’s third attack was over a cross-less life. In essence, he told Jesus, ‘You don’t have to carry the cross. Just bow to me and you can have it all.’ Jesus said, ‘…“Away with you, satan!...”’ (Matthew 4:10 NKJV). ‘Away’ with any teaching that says God is your porter and He has to wait on you! Or that He’s like a vending machine; all you have to do is put in a few coins and whatever you want will come out. Paul writes, ‘I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me’ (Galatians 2:20 NKJV). Has God promised to bless you? Absolutely! But that doesn’t mean you’ll never get hurt, or face lack, or fatigue, or be betrayed and disappointed by others. Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28. And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. 30. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. *Timeless Truth:* _For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister"_ (Hebrews 6:10) *INTRODUCTION* During the Second World War, Desmond Doss, an American Army medic and committed Christian, served without carrying a weapon because of his convictions. During the Battle of Okinawa in 1945, he repeatedly entered a dangerous battlefield to rescue wounded soldiers. He is credited with saving approximately 75 men, lowering each wounded soldier to safety while under enemy fire. Doss later received the Medal of Honor for extraordinary courage. His story reminds us that genuine commitment often involves sacrifice. A person who is committed to a worthy cause may surrender comfort, safety and personal advantage because he believes the cause is greater than himself. Peter's question in Matthew 19:27 comes from this same concern. The disciples had left much to follow Jesus, and Peter asked, “What shall we have therefore?” Jesus did not condemn the question. Instead, He taught them that sacrifice for God's kingdom is never wasted.*For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.* (Hebrews 6:10). The passage teaches us that Christ calls His followers to sacrificial discipleship, promises them spiritual reward and warns them against measuring God's kingdom by worldly standards. Perhaps you have sacrificed time to serve God. Perhaps you have endured rejection because of your faith. Perhaps you have given financially when it was difficult. Perhaps you have chosen obedience over personal ambition. Perhaps you have remained faithful in a ministry where nobody seems to notice your work. Jesus' answer in this passage is an encouragement: God sees, God remembers and God rewards. But Christ also corrects our understanding of reward. The Christian life is not primarily about asking, “What can I get from following Jesus?” It is about asking, “How can I faithfully serve the One who gave everything for me?” The disciples left much, but Jesus promised that their sacrifice would not be wasted. There are three great challenges before us: (i) Surrender your life completely to Christ. (ii) Serve faithfully without demanding immediate recognition. *(iii)* Stand firm when sacrifice becomes difficult. The world may celebrate those who appear to be first. God's kingdom operates differently. The person who quietly serves, humbly gives, faithfully prays, patiently suffers and continues obeying Christ may be accomplishing something of far greater eternal value than the person receiving public applause. Therefore, do not give up because your service is unnoticed. Do not stop serving because your sacrifice is costly. Do not measure God's faithfulness by your immediate circumstances. Your labour for Christ is never wasted. *Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.* (1 Corinthians 15:58) One day, the Lord Himself will reveal what truly mattered. And on that day, the faithful servant will discover that nothing surrendered to Christ was ever truly lost. *1. The Surrender of Sacrificial Discipleship* a. Peter reminded Jesus that the disciples had left their possessions and livelihoods to follow Him. Following Christ involves surrender. Christianity is not merely receiving blessings; it is also yielding our lives to the Lord. We must ask whether Christ truly has first place in our lives. Following Him may require us to surrender habits, relationships, ambitions, possessions, or personal preferences that compete with His will. b. The disciples did not merely admire Jesus; they left their former way of life and continued with Him. Christian commitment is not measured by how enthusiastically we begin, but by how faithfully we continue. *Questions* (i) What am I unwilling to surrender to Christ? (ii) Does my daily lifestyle demonstrate that following Jesus is more important to me than personal comfort? *2. The Reward of Kingdom Service* a. Jesus assured His disciples that their sacrifices would not go unnoticed. Jesus spoke of the future when He would sit on His glorious throne and the disciples would share in His kingdom. Our present service must be viewed in light of eternity. What we sacrifice for Christ now has eternal significance. b. Jesus promised that those who had sacrificed houses, family relationships or possessions for His name would receive abundant blessings. This does not mean that discipleship is a scheme for material prosperity. Rather, Jesus assures His followers that nothing surrendered to Him is ultimately lost. Jesus concludes His promise with: *"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters... for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”* *Questions* (i) Do I serve God for His glory or mainly for recognition and earthly rewards? (ii) When sacrifice becomes difficult, do I remember the eternal reward promised by Christ? *3. The Reversal of Kingdom Standards* a. Jesus concludes with a statement that challenges human ideas about success and reward. Human society often measures greatness through wealth, position, influence, education and recognition. But God's measurement is different. We should not measure our spiritual worth by comparing ourselves with other people. b. God values humble service rather than self-promotion. A disciple should be willing to serve even when nobody applauds, notices or rewards the work. The world's ranking system will not determine the final outcome. God will ultimately reveal the true value of every person's service. *Questions* (i) Do I become discouraged when others receive recognition while my service remains unnoticed? (ii) Am I willing to serve faithfully even when I receive no immediate reward? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord Jesus, help me to surrender every area of my life completely to You and place Your kingdom above my personal interests.🙏 2. Father, give me grace to remain faithful in serving You even when the work is difficult or unnoticed.🙏 3. Lord, deliver me from comparing myself with others and help me to value eternal rewards above temporary recognition.🙏 4. In the text, Apostle Peter poses a question many believers still echo today: "We have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?" It is a question laced with hope but also with the subtle implication of comparison with others and transaction with God. Considering the context, Peter's question implies that if we have given up much for God, in contrast to the rich young ruler who didn't, surely we are due a proportionate reward. In His answer, Jesus affirms that sacrifice in His name is never forgotten. Certainly, we shall receive astounding rewards, yet He closes with a warning wrapped in a paradox: "But many _that are_ first shall be last; and the last _shall be_ first."* *This final line holds the key to understanding divine reward, not as a salary earned but as a gift bestowed in Sovereign wisdom. God's kingdom does not run on human logic or worldly meritocracy. Instead, it operates based on grace, faithfulness, and sincerity of heart. When we serve God with a mere transactional mind-set, doing in order to receive, we risk missing the heartbeat of discipleship. And to correct this misunderstanding, Jesus immediately follows His statement with the parable of the workers in the vineyard. There, those who worked a full day were shocked to receive the same wages as those hired last. Then Jesus concluded with the same warning: "So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen". The point is clear: God's rewards are not based on length of service or human measure, but on His gracious prerogative. Faithfulness, not fame, draws heaven's attention.* *This ought to challenge and comfort us. We are not in competition in God's kingdom. We are simply called to be faithful. Whatever the sacrifice our calling may demand, the measure of our reward is not in the scope of our task but in our fidelity to it. The first always opens the list for other items to follow. As shown in our Bible passage, the first opens the door for all other benefits to come through. The blessings of God seem to be arranged in a divine, logical order in the lives of God's children. We do not have to rush for the second if we have not yet received the first. Sins (iniquities) block our way to receiving God's many benefits or blessings. Sin must first be removed out of our lives if we want to have God's blessings. For, *"if I regard* (allow) *iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me"* - and bless me (Psalm 66:18). In our Bible passage, the first benefit stated there is *"forgiveness of sin"*. It is after you have received this first benefit, by turning away from your bad ways, saying sorry to God, and making Jesus your Saviour and friend, that you are qualified to enjoy the other benefits like healing, deliverance, love and mercy of God, provision and long life. *If you desire God's blessings in your life, do the first thing first: repent and turn away from your sins, and the needed blessings will come into your life.* 🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥 ```🅿️rayer:``` _*Lord, I am sorry for every bad thing I have done.
