Present Truth # 1 God's Letter to You Heaven's Pledge - Our Assurance At some stage in life, individuals question their existence and purpose in life. A young mind generally has hopes and aspirations for the future. A discontented or discouraged mind finds it hard to accept a purpose or reason for life. Then there are the lonely, the empty, the unhappy. How can your life become more fulfilling, healthy, interesting? What lies after death? Is it possible to receive eternal life? Human hearts of every walk of life question the uncertain, yet desire an answer to satisfy their needs of security and contentment. No doubt at times such questions enter your mind. Are there answers to life's vital questions? Where can you find them? We all have some beliefs or ideas, but how accurate are they? No book ever written reveals so well the answer to these and many other fundamental questions except the Holy Bible. It reveals how life can be lived and enjoyed to the fullest. This is a promise. Who Wrote the Bible? Some critics have claimed that the Bible is only a book written by ordinary men, and therefore is just like any other book. The first part of this assertion is partly true but the latter is false. Yes, the book was written by men, but they had one different characteristic to most authors. “ . . . holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:21. God selected righteous men to pen His messages. They were not naturally creative writers, but events and messages were recorded as they were revealed and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Visions and thoughts were received and these holy men, knowing these were from God, faithfully wrote in their own language what they were shown. Thus there is a variety of style and of expression in the Bible, but no contradictions. There is a common theme throughout the collection of writings and a unity of beliefs. “The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.” 2 Samuel 23:2. No one was entrusted to write God’s sacred messages without receiving divine assistance. Actually the Bible is a compendium of books and its real Author is the Almighty. Throughout all these sacred writings is the theme of salvation from sin and its consequences, if we accept God's provisions and counsels. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17. The Scriptures also tell us of God and His loving character. “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39. Divisions Sixty-six books were written by nearly 40 writers during a period of approximately 1,600 years. Thirty-nine of the books constitute what is known as the Old Testament and twenty-seven comprise the New Testament. Whenever Jesus referred to Scripture, He quoted the Old Testament (the New Testament had not yet been written). The Old Testament has three major sections. Jesus said, “. . . These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.” Luke 24:44. “The law of Moses” refers to the first five books of the Bible. They were written by Moses and are often referred to as “the law,” because they contain all the laws that were given to ancient Israel. The ceremonial laws were symbolic and terminated at the cross. But there is far more to “Moses” than just the ceremonial system. Primarily it consists of the doctrines and principles of establishing God's church on earth. First there is the moral law as given by God Himself, then nature's laws, health, and doctrines of order and organization. “The prophets” refer to all the prophetic books. Some books in other classifications also have prophetic sections but, for ease of identification, each book is only placed in one category. For instance, Jesus used this type of terminology when talking with two disciples who were traveling to Emmaus after Jesus' resurrection: “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27. One of the most compelling tests of the authenticity of the Scriptures is the evidence of prophecy, for true prophecy is the recording of history in advance. Many of the prophecies of the Bible were written hundreds of years before their fulfilment, others are occurring now, some refer to our future. So important is prophecy that God challenges anyone to accurately predict the future in detail as He does. “Produce your cause, saith the Lord; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods; yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.” Isaiah 41:21-23. “Psalms” or poetry. The poetical books are Job, the Song of Solomon, and the Psalms. Some translations of the Bible record all the poetical sections in poetical format rather than prose. Although the meter is lost in translation from the original language, the beauty, majesty and pathos of the poetry of the Bible is still apparent and may be readily appreciated. The Power and Purpose of the Bible The power of God's word is demonstrated in many ways. When we scan the heavens and behold the sun, moon, planets and the myriads of stars, all orbiting their appointed trajectory through the immense expanse of space, we are witnessing the power of the Word of God! “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Psalm 33:6, 9. Yet a still greater power is contained in the living Word. Jesus, the son of God said, “. . . the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63. What is this power? What is its purpose? “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12. “The word” has within itself power, deep, abiding, and eternal. It leads us to see ourselves as we really are. It searches our inmost failures and yearnings, and provides the power to raise us from the lowest degradation. It has power which is able to make and keep men right, something we cannot do for ourselves. The Bible is able to transform our character and to make each person radiant, joyous, and full of hope. The Psalmist testified of this marvelous transforming power: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11. How long will the word of God endure? Christ declared: “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35. Comparing the short life span of man with the Word of God, the apostle Peter wrote: “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: but the word of the Lord endureth forever . . . ” 1 Peter 1:24, 25. On the midst of all the turmoil and strife of this present age, the Bible stands as an immovable, unchangeable beacon, with its light pointing to the true haven. It is a teacher and counselor of the highest order. Can Everyone Understand the Bible? For centuries it has been claimed by the clergy that the Bible should not be read by lay members because only learned theologians are able to interpret its doctrines. This withholding of the Scriptures from the people resulted in an intellectual, spiritual, and moral decline known, today, as the “Dark Ages.” “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6. Contrary to the stated belief of “the clergy,” “the entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” Psalm 119:130. Therefore, the Word of God is not only for intellectuals to understand, but if studied and obeyed, it will ennoble and elevate the humble searcher for truth, whatever his station in life. Christ declared that God's Word was more readily understood by those of open minds “babies” in trusting and absorbing just what God says, than by those who claim to be “wise.” “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.” Matthew 11:25. Often men of considerable learning, whether secular or theological, are too proud to admit wrong and thus disqualify themselves from understanding the truth of God. This is clearly illustrated in the Bible by the attitude of the learned scribes and Pharisees toward the teachings and person of Christ. Although they had theoretical knowledge, they could not accept the truth being presented to them. The Lord sees those who are humbly seeking for truth: “. . . to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” Isaiah 66:2. As we have read before, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” In other words, the “Spirit of God” gave the messages to the various writers. In order to understand the Word of God aright, we need this same Spirit to guide our mind when we read the Bible. “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:13. The written Word of God is God's voice speaking to us. It should always be treated with respect and should be studied with genuine desire to understand truth and its messages. Time spent searching the Scriptures should be regarded as time being spent in contact with the Divine. Therefore, before opening your Bible always pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance and believe that you will be directed and taught aright. Why Are There So Many Different Interpretations of the Bible? This question is often asked by skeptics as an argument that the Bible is unreliable. But are they right? What is the key to true understanding? One reason is given by the apostle Peter: “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” 2 Peter 3:16. In addition the Bible reproves sin and lays open the hidden secrets of the heart. This is not agreeable to our human nature which seeks to obscure the Scripture's plain explanations. The apostle Paul prophesied: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, have itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3, 4. It is impossible to come to a right understanding of the Bible if our hearts are not changed, because sinful human nature is opposed to the Spirit of God. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14. Today men are eagerly seeking for personal advantage. For the sake of gaining riches, honor or power, they place the maxims, traditions and requirements of men above the requirements of God. From such the treasures of God's word are hidden. Obedience is one key to a true understanding of the Scriptures. “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” John 7:17. The Theme of Bible Inspiration Many books have a central figure around which the story is woven. The Bible too has a central person in both the Old and New Testaments. Jesus said: "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39. When conversing with the two disciples on the way to Emmaus after His resurrection, Jesus explained this vital truth to them: “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27. Will There Always Be Opportunity to Study God's Word? Many people put off searching the Scriptures until they retire, or to some other time in the future. But they are making a fatal mistake! “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: and they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.” Amos 8:11-13. This wonderful book—the Bible—will soon be of no use for men. There will be no more opportunities to understand it or to obey its teachings. The Holy Spirit will not then be available to help people know the truth. Nevertheless, today we still have opportunity. Need to know. Signs You Have an Octopus Spirit! What is the Octopus Spirit? This is a spirit that causes you to feel like your mind is wrapped, squeezed, and pulled in many directions at once. It clouds your thinking, steals your peace, and tries to choke out your spiritual life with lies that sound like your own voice. The Bible does not use the word ‘octopus’ but it does describe this type of mental attack and calls us to take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) So here are 8 points, or ‘tentacles,’ that can show if you are being oppressed by this spirit. Tentacle #1: You have intrusive thoughts that you did not invite. For example: - You are worship and a blasphemous thought flashes in. - You are driving and a thought tells you to hurt yourself. - You are holding your child and a dark image appears. You feel sick inside and wonder what is wrong with you. James 1:14 shows the enemies entices and whispers. You are not the thoughts you did not invite. Tentacle #2: Every thought turns hopeless. You make one small mistake and your mind jumps to ‘it is over.’ You have one bad day and feel, ‘this is who I am forever.’ If your thoughts keep ending in, ‘there is no point,’ that is a sign of mental oppression. Tentacle #3: You have mental loops that don’t stop. - You replay old conversations nonstop. - You reheard disasters that have not happened. - You wake up at night and relive things you cannot change. You are not processing. You are in torment. The octopus spirit keeps your mind spinning without peace. Tentacle #4: Your thoughts become your identity. You used to think, ‘I am struggling with fear.’ Now you say, ‘I am a fearful person.’ You used to think, ‘I am tempted by lust.’ Now you call yourself a lustful person. The Bible tells you to take thoughts captive, not to wear them as your name. When a repeated thought becomes how you describe yourself, it turns into a stronghold. Tentacle #5: Prayer feels heavy and numbing feels easy. The Bible feels boring, worship feels hollow, and prayer feels dry and heavy. But scrolling, eating, drinking, and binge watching feel effortless. This can be spiritual warfare that pulls you away from what nourishes your spirit and drags you toward what only numbs you. Tentacle #6: You hide and isolate. You start thinking things like: - ‘Do not tell anyone.’ - ‘They will judge me.’ - ‘No one will understand.’ - ‘Handle your problems alone.’ This spirit thrives in secrecy and isolation. The Bible calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other to be healed. (James 5:16) When you think your thoughts into the light, the grip of this spirit begins to loosen. Tentacle #7: You live in mental fog and double mindedness. You feel constant fog in your mind and struggle to focus, pray, and make decisions. Some days you feel close to God, but other days you feel numb and distant. That fog is not from your Father. It is the enemy clouding the water so you cannot see clearly. Tentacle #8: You start giving yourself permission to sin. At first the voice in your head tempts you. Then it starts to sound like permission. - ‘You deserve it.’ - ‘Just do it this once.’ - ‘God will understand.’ - ‘It’s not that serious.’ When your own thoughts start writing permission slips and signing God’s name on them, this is a sign that this spirit is at work. If you see these signs in your life, it does not mean things are hopeless. It means the Holy Spirit is bringing this into the light so Jesus can set you free. Here is what to do: - Come to Jesus and confess that your mind belongs to Him. - Identify the lies and name them out loud as lies. - Replace lies with the truth of Scripture. - Repent of any open doors and invite Jesus to close them. - In the name of Jesus, command every spirit tied to these lies to leave. - Refuse isolation and share honestly with a trusted, mature believer. - Begin to renew your mind daily in the word of God. You do not have to live with this forever. In Christ there is real freedom.

Satan vs flesh. The ultimate battle. In life, we face trials and tribulations, this helps build our walk with God. With that said, we tend to give to much credit to Satan for things that we freely chose to do. God gave us free will, The ability to make our own decisions. when we chose to sin, it’s not because Satan makes us to. We make that decision. Then we try to cover things up by saying, I made a mistake. But it wasn’t a mistake. it was us making the choice. We did it willingly. God says to lean not unto our own understanding, which is crucial for our walk with him. So I challenge you to take ownership for the decisions made, for the sins we commit knowly. I have glorified You on the earth...’ John 17:4 NKJV AT THE end of His life, Jesus was able to pray, ‘I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.’ Jesus didn’t try to compete with John the Baptist or model Himself after some Old Testament prophet. He knew what ‘success’ was for Him. To know what it is for you, you must: 1) Discern what success really is. When others feel good about you, you’re popular; but when you feel good about yourself, you’re successful. Your life’s highest calling will always create the highest level of joy within you. 2) Before you set goals, pray. ‘In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths’ (Proverbs 3:6 NKJV). It’s not wrong to set goals, it’s just wrong to set them without first consulting God. 3) Stop expecting others to bring you success. Don’t wait for flowers to arrive. God gave you seed; start growing some of your own. ‘Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else’ (Galatians 6:4 NLT). And besides, when you’re less needy you’ll become more attractive to others. 4) Get over yourself—everyone else has. A minister said he was praying one day, ‘Father, why does the devil keep reminding me of my past?’ God replied, ‘Because he’s running low on material!’ Repent, and then move on. God says He will ‘…not remember your sins’ (Isaiah 43:25 NKJV). There’s only one good reason to bring up the past, and that’s to learn from it and grow wiser. [30/08, 9:40 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* MONDAY, 31ST AUGUST, 2026. *DANCING AT THE GATES OF HELL* *TEXT:* MICAH 2:7-13. 7 O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly? 8 Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war. 9 The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever. 10 Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction. 11 If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. 12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men. 13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them. *Timeless Truth:*_"Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came"_ (Amos 6:1). *INTRODUCTION* It is dangerous to live carelessly at the edge of spiritual destruction, presuming that God's patience means that His judgment will never come. The people of Israel had become comfortable with sin, oppression and false teachings, yet they still wanted to hear pleasant messages. They were, in effect, dancing at the gates of hell—enjoying temporary pleasures while moving dangerously close to divine judgment. The audience of Micah foreshadows this modern age or last days when the *"people will no longer be able to endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears"* (2 Timothy 4:3). If Israel was severely punished for preferring fables to the sound Word of truth, the people of this age will have a more *"sorer punishments"* in eternal hell fire. Micah's message calls us to examine our hearts, remember the consequences of persistent rebellion and hasten to leave every path that leads to destruction. *1. Heart-Probing Questions* a. There were some probing questions in the text. *"O house of Jacob, is the Spirit of the LORD straitened [limited]?"* The people complained that God's power or patience was too short or that His Spirit should only give good messages instead of warning them about judgment. In the last days too, the same attitude and preference will increasingly continue. *"They shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables"* (2 Timothy 4:4). The sound doctrine of the Word of God will be a heavy burden and unbearable to the religious lovers of pleasure. Many preachers will unfaithfully dilute their messages to suit their audience and make them happy though they will eventually, lead them to destruction and hell. They also asked, *"Are these his doings?"*. The people questioned if God was really behind the hard times or the warnings of punishment they were hearing. To them, God is too good to inflict such a heavy judgment. It was not God that was behind their hard times, but their evils. When you do evil, evil will follow and when you do good, good will follow. b. God answered their questions. *"Do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?"* God answers that His messages are always good and helpful for people who actually, live right and obey Him. Even when the Word of God is a warning judgment, it is equally to do good to those who are rebellious and disobedient for it will turn them from the path of destruction. All the messages of God are good and are intended to do good in the lives of the obedient. Hearing His Word is never a liability if there is love for the truth. We must stop blaming God, the Church, our circumstances or other people for the consequences of our disobedience. The probing question is directed at our hearts: Are we walking uprightly before God? A person who rejects God's correction, but expects His blessings is dangerously deceiving himself. *Question* When God's Word confronts your lifestyle, do you humbly submit to it or resist its correction? *2. History of Protracted Quarrel* a. The basis of God's quarrel with Israel had always been because of their sins and violence against moral laws. God always gives reasons to justify His judgments so that it is clear to all that people's disobedience is not a matter of ignorance, but a deliberate choice and exercise of their will. Some of their evils were listed. The rebellion of God's people was not a momentary mistake; it had become a prolonged quarrel against God's righteous ways. They rose against others as enemies, robbed the peaceful, oppressed women and drove children away from their inheritance. *"The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant places"*. Furthermore, the children were messed up, demoralized and denied basic moral training and discipline that would make them radiate the glory of God. *"From their children have ye taken away my glory for ever"*. Robbery and insecurity of lives and property became a booming trade in the land. *"Ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely"*. Worse still, they preferred false prophets who specialize in prophesying ephemeral blessings including wine and strong drink. b. Israel had a long history of persistent rebellion despite warnings from the prophets. Sin often begins as a private compromise, but can grow into a lifestyle that damages others. Persistent rebellion against God results in injustice, selfishness and spiritual blindness. Those dancing at the gates of hell may laugh at warnings and celebrate false assurances, but judgment does not disappear because people refuse to hear about it. *Question* Is there any sinful habit you have allowed to continue for so long that it is now affecting other people? *3. Hasten to Permanently Quit* God commanded His people to arise and depart because their sinful condition had made their present position spiritually unsafe. Lot was told by the angel to hasten *"while he lingers"* though the fire of hell was almost dropping like rain. He was warned *"escape for thy life"* (Genesis 19:16,17). If he had delayed further, the fire of God would have caught him with all his family members. When God pronounces His judgments on wickedness, the wisest thing to do is to speedily take steps and quit whatever is displeasing to God. *“This is not your rest.”* Though the judgment of God was catching up with them, they still believed their mind and the messages of compromising prophets who promised them *"peace, peace, when there is no peace"*. They were relaxed, unresponsive and continued their lives of pleasure as if the prophet was just wasting his time. Any promised rest or enjoyment in the midst of sin is fake and deceptive. *"Arise ye, and depart, for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction"*. God always remembers mercy in His wrath. He asked them to seek for exile in other countries because the judgment on the land as a result of their evil was irreversible. God's solution against His judgments is always departure from sin and objects of divine rebukes and displeasure. *"Depart ye, depart ye"*. b. As characterictic of God, the message ended with hope and restoration for the repentant remnants. God promised to gather His remnant and lead them like a shepherd. After they had suffered in the land of the captivity, "the Breaker" (The Messiah) went before them, opening the way for deliverance and led them back to their land. This will also be repeated in the last days when Messiah will come back to deliver Israel from the hand of their enemies, especially the Antichrist. God does not call us to abandon sin without providing the grace and power to escape it. Christ is our Deliverer, able to break the chains of bondage and lead us into true freedom. Do not dance near the gates of hell. Arise, repent and permanently quit every sinful path. Run toward Christ, who alone leads His people safely through the way of life. *Question* What must you urgently and permanently leave behind in order to walk freely with Christ? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, search my heart and reveal every area where I have resisted Your Word and correction🙏. 2.Father, deliver me from every prolonged habit of sin that is destroying my fellowship with You and hurting others🙏. 3.Lord, give me more love for the truth and give me hatred for all forms of deceptions🙏 4.Lord Jesus, my Deliverer and Breaker, go before me, break every chain of bondage and lead me into a life of holiness and victory👆. *HYMN:* Have you counted the cost? *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* ESTHER 6-10. Many cling to lifestyles, habits, or environments that have become spiritually toxic. Some remain in relationships, careers, or ideologies that corrupt their faith. The call to "arise and depart" is not always about physical relocation but about spiritual repositioning. God often calls His people to leave behind what is no longer safe for their souls. When we refuse, destruction follows. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NKJV) INTRODUCTION: Jesus promised that He would come again and receive His people to Himself. Scripture teaches that the Lord will descend, the dead in Christ will rise, and those who are alive and remain will be caught up to meet Him in the air. But the Rapture is not the real deal. Jesus Christ is the real deal. Because without Jesus, there is no Rapture for us. No Jesus, no Rapture! EXPOSITION 1 THE RAPTURE IS REAL: We must first establish this clearly. The Rapture is not a Christian fairy tale. It is not something invented to frighten people. It is part of the hope given to the Church. Jesus said in John 14:3: “I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” Notice something very important. Jesus did not merely say, “I will send somebody for you.” He said: “I will come again.” And Paul gives us the picture in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. He says the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. The dead in Christ will rise first, and those who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air. That is the Rapture. The word may be debated by people, but the biblical event is clearly described.There will be a resurrection. There will be a catching away. There will be a meeting in the air. And there will be a glorious reunion with the Lord. So, Christian, the Rapture is real. But don't stop there. Because there is something more important than knowing that the Rapture is real. You must know the One who is coming. The Rapture is an event. Jesus is the Person behind the event. The Rapture is a promise. Jesus is the Promiser. The Rapture is the catching away. Jesus is the One we are going to meet. That brings us to the heart of the message. EXPOSITION 2: JESUS CHRIST IS THE REAL DEAL From Genesis to Revelation, the great story of Scripture is pointing us toward God's redemptive work fulfilled in Christ. Jesus is not an addition to Christianity. Jesus is the center of Christianity. Remove Jesus, and Christianity has no foundation. Remove Jesus, and salvation has no meaning. Remove Jesus, and the resurrection has no hope. Remove Jesus, and the Gospel has no message. And remove Jesus from the Rapture... There is no Rapture for you. Jesus said in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Not a way. The way. Not a truth. The truth. Not merely someone who gives life. The life. That is why Jesus is the real deal. He is not an imitation Savior. He is not a religious symbol. He is not merely a great teacher among many teachers. He is the Son of God who came into the world, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and promised to come again. And notice how beautifully the Bible connects the resurrection, the Rapture, and Jesus. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 that because Jesus died and rose again, believers have hope concerning those who have died in Christ. Then he proceeds to explain the coming of the Lord and the catching away. Everything points back to Jesus. So don't make the mistake of becoming more interested in escaping the earth than in knowing Christ. Don't become so fascinated by the Rapture that you forget the One who is coming. Don't spend all your time asking: “When will the Rapture happen?” and fail to ask: “Am I truly in Christ?” Because the greatest question is not: “Will there be a Rapture?” The greatest question is: “Will I be ready for Jesus?” EXPOSITION 3: NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE Now we come to the heart of the message. NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE! Let me say it again: NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE! Why? Look at the language of Scripture. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 does not simply say, “the dead shall rise.” It says: “The dead in Christ shall rise first.” That is the key. IN CHRIST. That is the qualification. The issue is not merely whether you attend church. The issue is whether you are in Christ. You may know Christian songs. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may carry a Bible. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may have a church position. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may be called Pastor, Evangelist, Prophet, Reverend or Minister. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may come from a Christian family. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may have been baptized. No Jesus, no Rapture. You may have preached to thousands. No Jesus, no Rapture. Because the Rapture is not a reward for religious appearance. It is the blessed hope of those who belong to Christ Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:21 that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven. That should make every one of us examine ourselves. Because there is a difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus. There is a difference between carrying Christianity and carrying Christ. There is a difference between having a religious identity and having a relationship with Jesus. So, my brother, my sister: Do you have Jesus? Not just religion. Jesus. Not just church. Jesus. Not just the language of Christianity. Jesus. Not just the appearance. Jesus. Because when that trumpet sounds, your title will not catch you up. Your denomination will not catch you up. Your money will not catch you up. Your popularity will not catch you up. Your social-media followers will not catch you up. It is Christ that matters. The Bible says: “The dead in Christ shall rise first.” And those who are alive and remain will be caught up to meet the Lord. So the destination is not even the most important thing. The destination is important because Jesus is there. Heaven is precious because Jesus is there. Eternal life is precious because Jesus is there. The Rapture is glorious because it brings us to Jesus. Therefore: THE RAPTURE IS REAL. BUT JESUS CHRIST IS THE REAL DEAL. NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE! Say it in your heart. NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE! Get Jesus right. Live for Jesus. Walk with Jesus. Remain in Jesus. And when Jesus comes... be ready to meet Him. CONCLUSION JESUS IS THE REAL DEAL 🤝! The message is simple. The Rapture is real. But don't make the Rapture your god. Jesus is the real deal. Don't merely prepare for an event. Prepare to meet a Person. Don't merely look for the trumpet. Look to Jesus. Because NO JESUS, NO RAPTURE. He had always been one of the better students in his class, but during an important examination, he allowed fear and pressure to influence him. He cheated, and he was caught. The school punished him, and his parents were deeply disappointed. After that experience, Samuel changed. He stopped believing in himself. Whenever people talked about academic success, he remembered his failure. He began telling himself that he was no longer the responsible person everyone thought he was. Even when teachers encouraged him to work harder, he felt that his past had already ruined his future. One afternoon, his teacher, Mr. James, called him aside after class. He told Samuel that what he had done was wrong and that he should not pretend otherwise. However, he also told him something Samuel needed to hear. You made a bad decision, but you are not a bad person. Take responsibility for what happened, learn from it, and make better decisions from now on. Samuel went home thinking about those words. He realised that he had made two mistakes. The first was cheating in the examination. The second was allowing that mistake to become the way he saw himself. He decided to start again. He apologised to his parents, accepted the consequences of his actions, and became more serious about his studies. He stopped looking for shortcuts and began preparing properly for his examinations. His journey was not easy. There were times when he remembered his past and felt ashamed, but he refused to return to his old way of thinking. Eventually, he became more disciplined and performed much better in his next examinations. Samuel never forgot his mistake, but he stopped allowing it to define him. The experience became a lesson that helped him become more honest, responsible, and disciplined. Today's Message Everybody makes mistakes. Some mistakes are small, while others can have serious consequences. As you grow through your teenage years, young adulthood, career, relationships, business, and family life, you will make decisions that you will later wish you had handled differently. You may fail an examination. You may choose the wrong friends. You may waste money. You may enter a relationship you should have avoided. You may make a poor business decision. You may say something that hurts someone. You may fall into a sinful habit. You may make a decision that brings shame or disappointment. When this happens, do not pretend that the mistake did not happen. Take responsibility for it. Learn from it. Apologise where necessary. Accept correction and make changes. But do not allow one mistake to convince you that your life is over. Proverbs 24:16 says that a righteous person may fall seven times and rise again. The message is not that righteous people never fall. It is that falling does not have to be the end of their story. Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus restored him and gave him work to do. David made serious mistakes, yet he humbled himself before God and continued to serve Him. The Bible does not hide the failures of these people because God wants us to understand that failure does not automatically cancel a person's future. You may have made a mistake that you are ashamed of. Perhaps nobody else knows about it, but you think about it whenever you are alone. You may have told yourself that God cannot use you anymore. You may believe that you have gone too far to start again. That is not the message of Scripture. If you have sinned, repent. If you have hurt someone, apologise. If you have made a foolish decision, learn from it. If you need help, seek it. If there are consequences, face them. But after doing what is right, do not spend the rest of your life punishing yourself for a past that God wants to use as a lesson. There is a difference between guilt that leads you to repentance and shame that makes you believe you are worthless. God can correct you without destroying you. His correction is meant to bring you back, not to convince you that you have no future. You also need to be careful about the names you give yourself. Do not keep saying, I am a failure. Do not keep saying, Nothing good can come from me. Do not keep saying, I always make bad decisions. Do not allow a mistake to become your identity. You made a mistake. That is different from saying that you are a mistake. Your past may explain some things about you, but it does not have to control your future. What matters now is what you do with the lesson. Perhaps you failed in one area of your life. That does not mean you must fail in every other area. Perhaps one relationship ended badly. That does not mean you can never have a healthy relationship. Perhaps your business failed. That does not mean you can never become successful. Perhaps you performed badly in school. That does not mean you cannot improve. Start again with wisdom. This time, do things differently. Get better advice. Build better habits. Choose better friends. Study harder. Pray more. Ask questions. Be accountable. Avoid the environment that led you into the mistake. Starting again does not mean returning to the same behaviour and expecting a different result. It means taking what you have learned and using it to make better choices. Your story is not finished because you made a mistake. There is still room to grow. There is still room to change. There is still room to rebuild. There is still room to become better. Get up and keep moving. What To Do Today 1. Think about one past mistake that still affects the way you see yourself. 2. Accept responsibility for it, learn the lesson, and decide what you will do differently. 3. If you need to apologise or make something right, take that step. 4. Stop describing yourself by your past mistakes and begin focusing on the person you are becoming. Prayer Lord, help me to learn from my mistakes without allowing them to destroy my confidence or my future. Give me the humility to accept correction, the courage to apologise when I am wrong, and the wisdom to make better decisions. Help me to receive Your forgiveness and move forward with a clean heart. Teach me to see myself through Your Word and not through my past failures. Give me grace to rise again and become the person You have called me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen. SATURDAY 29TH AUGUST 2026 IGNITE YOUTH DEVOTIONAL Topic: Do Not Give Up on Your Dream Bible Reference Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (NIV) A Short Story Esther had always loved fashion. Even as a teenager, she enjoyed drawing clothing designs in her notebooks and helping her friends choose what to wear. After completing her education, she decided that she wanted to build a fashion business. She believed that it was something she could become good at and that it could eventually provide a source of income for her and her family. However, the beginning was not easy. Esther did not have enough money to buy all the equipment she wanted. She started with a small sewing machine and worked from a corner of her mother's house. Her first few customers were people she knew, but some of them complained about her work. One customer refused to pay the full amount because she was not satisfied with the finishing. Esther became discouraged. She began to wonder whether she had made a mistake by choosing fashion. She saw other young designers on social media displaying beautiful shops, expensive machines, and large numbers of customers. Compared with them, her business looked very small. One afternoon, after another difficult week, Esther told her friend Sharon that she was thinking about giving up. Sharon listened and then asked her, What if you are not failing? What if you are simply still learning? That question changed Esther's thinking. She realised that she had expected success to come quickly. She had forgotten that every skilled person had once been a beginner. Instead of quitting, Esther began looking for ways to improve. She watched tutorials, asked experienced designers questions, practised every day, and listened carefully to customer complaints. She stopped using other people's success to measure her own progress. The business did not become successful overnight. Esther still had difficult months, but she kept improving. With time, her work became better, her customers became more satisfied, and more people began recommending her. Years later, Esther looked back at the little corner where she had started. She realised that the biggest decision she had made was not buying better equipment or getting her first major customer. It was choosing not to quit when things became difficult. Today's Message Many young people have dreams, but not everyone has the patience to keep working when the dream becomes difficult. You may have a business idea, a career goal, a ministry vision, a desire to write a book, a plan to learn a skill, or a dream of becoming financially independent. You may begin with excitement, but after a few disappointments, you may start wondering whether you should stop. Failure can make you question yourself. Rejection can make you feel unqualified. Slow progress can make you believe that nothing is happening. Seeing other people succeed faster can make you feel like giving up. But slow progress does not mean that your dream is dead. Galatians 6:9 tells us not to become weary in doing good because there is a proper time for harvest. The verse does not promise that everything will happen immediately. It reminds us that persistence matters. Sometimes you are closer to a breakthrough than you realise, but you stop because you become tired. Think about a farmer. After planting a seed, the farmer does not dig it up every morning to check whether it is growing. He waters it, protects it, and gives it time. Growth takes place even when he cannot see it immediately. Your life can be like that. You may be studying today without seeing the result yet. You may be learning a skill without earning much money yet. You may be building a business without having many customers yet. You may be serving God without seeing the impact yet. You may be working on yourself without seeing the changes immediately. Keep going. However, refusing to give up does not mean refusing to change your approach. Sometimes the dream is good, but your method is wrong. If something is not working, learn, adjust, and try again. Ask questions. Improve your skills. Seek advice. Correct your mistakes. Persistence is not stubbornness. Persistence means continuing toward a worthwhile goal while being willing to learn and improve along the way. You also need to stop comparing your beginning with somebody else's middle. You may see someone who has already built a successful business, written several books, established a ministry, or achieved financial stability. Remember that you may not know how many years that person spent learning and struggling before the results became visible. Do not despise your small beginning. Your first business may be small. Your first sermon may be imperfect. Your first book may not sell many copies. Your first job may not be your dream job. Your first attempt at something may fail. That does not mean you should stop. Learn from it and continue. There will be days when you feel motivated and days when you do not. Discipline becomes important when motivation disappears. You cannot build your future based only on how you feel each morning. Some days, you will have to keep working because you have already decided that the goal is worth pursuing. At the same time, remember that not every dream must be pursued forever. If God redirects you, if you discover that your plans are wrong, or if wise counsel shows you that you need to take a different path, be willing to adjust. Giving up on one plan is not the same as giving up on your purpose. What matters is that you continue moving toward the life God wants you to build. Do not let one failure become the final chapter of your story. You may have failed an examination. You may have lost a job. Your business may have failed. Someone may have rejected you. A relationship may have ended. An opportunity may have passed you by. Learn from it. Get up. Pray again. Plan again. Try again. Your present difficulty does not have to determine your final outcome. What To Do Today 1. Write down one important goal you have almost given up on. 2. Identify the main reason you became discouraged and decide what you can do differently. 3. Take one practical step toward that goal today, even if the step is small. 4. Ask a mature and trustworthy person for advice on how you can improve. Prayer Lord, give me strength when I become tired and discouraged. Help me not to abandon the good things You have placed in my heart simply because they are taking time. Give me wisdom to learn from my mistakes, courage to try again, and discipline to keep working. If You need to redirect my plans, help me recognise Your direction. But where You have called me to continue, give me grace not to give up. In Jesus' name, Amen.
