(5)" ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?...’ Psalms 27:1 NKJV WE ALL need an encounter with the transfigured Christ; the One who is greater than Moses the law giver and Elijah the prophet, and all the other prophets who have ever lived. The One who wears the true crown of the universe, God’s beloved Son. We need to fall on our face and see Him as the Holy One, the Highest One, the Only One. As you do, all your fears, save the fear of Christ Himself, will melt like an ice cube on a summer day. You will agree with David: ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?’ In the book Prince Caspian, there is a great illustration of this. Lucy sees Aslan the lion for the first time in many years. He has changed since their last encounter. His size surprises her, and she tells him as much. ‘Aslan,’ says Lucy, ‘you’re bigger.’ He replies, ‘That is because you are older, little one.’ Lucy says, ‘Not because you are?’ He replies, ‘I am not. But every year you grow, you find me bigger.’ And so it is in our walk with Christ. The longer we serve Him, the greater He becomes. It’s not that He changes, but that we do. We see dimensions, aspects, characteristics we never saw before; increasing and astonishing increments of His purity, power, and uniqueness. Only when we have fallen at His feet in humility and total dependence will He say to us what He said to His disciples on the Mount where He was transfigured: ‘…“Arise, and do not be afraid”’ (Matthew 17:7 NKJV). When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25. And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26. Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30. They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31. Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. 32. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. *Timeless Truth:* _But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you _*(Matthew 6:33)*. *INTRODUCTION* In 1997, the world watched as Mother Teresa continued her work among the poor and dying in Calcutta despite having very limited material resources. Her ministry was not built around accumulating possessions, but around serving people and pointing them toward Christ. Her life demonstrated that material needs, though important, cannot by themselves satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart. This truth is reflected in Jesus' encounter with the crowd in John 6. The people had witnessed the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. They had received bread miraculously and when they could no longer find Jesus, they sought for Him. However, Jesus exposed the motive behind their search: *“You seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.”* (John 6:26) They were pursuing Jesus primarily because of what He could give them, rather than because of who He is. Jesus then redirected their attention from temporary bread to eternal nourishment: The passage challenges us to examine our motives: Are we seeking Christ because we love Him or primarily because of what we hope to receive from Him? The crowd came looking for Jesus, but Jesus knew why they were looking for Him. They had eaten the bread, enjoyed the miracle and wanted more. Their problem was not that they wanted bread. Their problem was that they wanted bread without fully recognizing the Bread of Life. This remains a danger for Christians today. We can seek God for: employment, healing, financial breakthrough, academic success, marriage, protection, promotion, material provision and all these things may legitimately be brought before God in prayer. However, if our relationship with Christ is reduced to what He can provide, we have misunderstood discipleship. Jesus is not merely the Provider of bread; He is the Bread of Life. The greatest blessing is not what God places in our hands, but who God places in our hearts. Physical bread sustains the body temporarily. Money can provide comfort temporarily. Success can bring recognition temporarily. Possessions can give pleasure temporarily, but none of these can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human soul. Only Christ can do that. Therefore, we must examine our priorities. Are we spending more time pursuing things than pursuing God? Are we more excited about God's gifts than about God's presence? Do we pray only when we need something or do we desire fellowship with Christ because we love Him? The answer of Jesus is clear: *Do not labour for the food which perisheth, but for the food which endureth to everlasting life.* Let us therefore, seek Christ above possessions, eternal life above temporary success and God's kingdom above worldly satisfaction. When Christ becomes our greatest treasure, we can enjoy God's blessings without allowing those blessings to become our god. The deepest hunger of the human heart can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. *1. The Pursuit of Temporary Satisfaction* a. The crowd crossed the sea looking for Jesus, but their motivation was primarily physical. The people sought diligently for Jesus after discovering that He had left. Seeking Christ is good, but our motives matter. We should seek Jesus not merely for His blessings, but because He is worthy of our love and devotion. b. The crowd had witnessed a miracle and wanted more. They were attracted to what Jesus could do rather than surrendering themselves to who Jesus is. *(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)* (2 Corinthians 5:7) — Miracles can point us toward Christ, but miracles themselves must never become the foundation of our faith. Physical food satisfies temporarily; eventually, we become hungry again. *Questions* (i) What do I pursue most—God Himself or the blessings I hope to receive from Him? (ii) Have material possessions, comfort, success or recognition become more important to me than spiritual growth? *2. The Priority of Eternal Substance* a. Jesus redirected the crowd from physical food toward the nourishment that leads to eternal life. This does not mean Christians should neglect legitimate work or physical responsibilities. Rather, eternal things must have first priority. Our careers, businesses, education and possessions are important, but none should replace our pursuit of God. b. Jesus made it clear that eternal life ultimately comes from God. *For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:* (Ephesians 2:8). We cannot earn salvation through human achievement. When the crowd asked what they should do, Jesus answered: The central response God desires is genuine faith in Jesus Christ. *Questions* (i) Am I investing as much energy in my spiritual life as I invest in my career and material needs? (ii) Am I trusting Christ for salvation or am I depending on my good works and religious activities? *3. The Provision of Sufficient Bread* a. The crowd remembered the manna given to Israel in the wilderness and asked Jesus for a sign. They referred to Moses and the manna: They were focusing on an earlier miracle instead of recognizing the greater One standing before them. Past spiritual experiences are valuable testimonies, but we must continue walking with Christ today. b. Jesus corrected their understanding: *Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.*(John 6:32.) God's provision in the wilderness pointed beyond physical manna to Christ Himself. We can trust God to provide what we genuinely need while remembering that our greatest need is spiritual life in Christ. The crowd responded: *“Lord, give us this bread always.”* Although they still misunderstood, their request provided an opportunity for Jesus to reveal the truth that became explicit in the following verse: *And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst* (John 6:35).Jesus Himself is the ultimate provision for the deepest hunger of the human soul. *Questions* (i) Where do I turn when I experience emotional, spiritual or inner emptiness? (ii) Am I allowing Christ to satisfy my deepest spiritual hunger through His Word and fellowship? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord, help me to seek You above every temporary possession, achievement and earthly ambition.🙏 2. Father, create within me a deeper hunger and thirst for Your Word, Your presence and Your righteousness.🙏 3. Sadly, the crowd in our text sought Jesus for temporal gratification, not eternal salvation! Jesus saw their motive for seeking Him and punctured their search with a scathing, incisive, yet profoundly true remark: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled".* *The Bible is clear that our ultimate source of happiness and pleasure is God. David wrote, "In thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore". Jesus told the disciples: "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full". We will find fullness of joy and pleasures forever when we seek the Lord rightly.* *Beloved, never seek the Lord for superficial motives. They are a mirage; bubbles that never last. Beyond the bread (healing, deliverance, prosperity and miracles) that Christ gives, seek Him who is the Bread of Life, the Bread from heaven. Be discreet to shun dispensing your life energy on labouring for perishable material things that will never satisfy the imperishable soul. "Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?" (Isaiah 55:2). He still saves as many as would come to Him for salvation and restores backsliders who truly repent. God does not despise genuine hunger and thirst for righteousness. Blood 🩸 Moon Picture by: Thomas Mabry BADGER CAPTURED THIS IMAGE from Glassmine Falls Overlook looking over the Asheville Watershed at nearly near 5,000 feet elevation on the overlook. The photo represents what my camera saw and recorded near maximum of the 8.28.2026 partial lunar eclipse. A tight ring of color appeared around the last bright sliver of the Moon. My research indicated that it is a lunar corona, not the big 22° ice crystal halo which is more well known. Wispy clouds are commonplace above the watershed and they ensconced the moon at maximum. I'm told those thin water droplets in the clouds diffract moonlight. Blue bends less than red, so you get a small inner blue/green band and a warmer ring just outside it. The uneclipsed sliver was still bright enough to light the droplets. Fearing a camera or lens aberration, I went back through the set of photos taken near and at maximum. The same corona appears on four frames I viewed - in the same place, with the same colors and in the files before I touched them. Badger generally shoots in RAW and edits in Lightroom and tonight was no exception. The main edit here is denoise. High-ISO grain was sitting on top of midtones that already held the rings. I cropped to the Moon and the first two bands and left the the rest virtually untouched. The mountains supplied the cloud. The eclipse supplied the light. The camera recorded both. Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you. I have made a proclamation and sealed it with my signet ring … “The Germans may never return home. They are the only ones who know where my stuff is.” Haha. Years ago when the kids would come and visit, we would randomly look for something. It was then that my daughter-in-law would produce it from wherever it was that I had securely placed it and promptly forgot. If memory serves, I even texted her one day, after they had gone home, and asked if she knew where something was. I had already searched the house; why not ask the expert. Haha. Last night, a friend had come to borrow a stadium seat and cushion. I found the seat just fine, but could I find those stupid cushions …NO! I knew I had stacked them together, but I could not remember which safe place I had put them in. Just as I was about to give up, the oldest little came into the room I was leaving, told me that she knew where they were, and pulled out a seat cushion from the bottom shelf of the shelving unit. Eight hours later, I vaguely remember putting them there, but she is following in her mother’s footsteps … they may not leave. Haha. Yesterday was a complete blessing day. Our son earned some money helping a friend. The littles and I went on a walk by ourselves. Then we went on a walk to the park with the other Oma. Afterwards, my hubby and I went to the doctor and picked up supper. Then I was able to secure two extremely valuable boxes of Bluey ice cream for the littlest of littles and become her favorite again. (bribery works…haha) Had a good visit with my sister and a great walk with the other Oma. Today is looking to be a challenging but good day. Challenging because hubby is in pain from the swelling in his legs, but good because we have a family day planned. Tomorrow we will be celebrating his birthday with all the kids and enjoying God’s love. To be honest, I know that there were some uglies yesterday; however, they are buried in the positives … deeply. I am sure that there will be uglies today, but I am just as positive that the blessings will completely overshadow any potential attempts from the enemy to darken our day. What was your positive for yesterday? Did you have more than one? Do they overshadow the enemy’s attempts to steal your joy and peace? Shout them from the rooftops and embrace them as they create an armor of godliness. Today, walk in the Peace of the Lord and seek his righteousness … in doing so … the blessings that He has will manifest before your eyes. Guidelines for living. August 21st, 2026 Here’s The Only Way to Begin to Love This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:10-11 The greatest rivers in the world usually begin on the cold, frozen slopes of high mountains as the sun begins to melt snow and ice, and from the trickle of crystal-clear water a steam begins to flow and eventually a cascade of water plummets down the mountain. In the valley far below, the stream becomes a river, then a great river which we call the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges, the Rhine, or whatever. By the time these massive bodies of water reach the ocean, they may be kilometers wide, and they are muddy and polluted. Now, apply that same concept to the biblical truth that God is love. John tells us this in the New Testament, and the farther we are from Him, seemingly the more polluted love becomes. By the time it has been filtered through human lust, what we call love is a far cry from the compelling love which caused God to send His Son long ago. Love is not a platitude, it is an action, an unconditional commitment to care, a decision of your heart. True, love is what the world needs. The words of a song popular a generation ago said it all: “The world is dying, dying for a little bit of love,” says one verse. If you’ve been following this series based on Paul’s great chapter on love, found in the New Testament in 1 Corinthians 13, you have focused on love’s characteristics, but any discussion of the subject would be incomplete without a few words of encouragement for you whose river of love has either evaporated in the desert of life, or else become so polluted you hardly know what the real thing is. When God touches your heart, your life will change. God takes up residence in your life, and the mud of sin is washed away. When pollution is eliminated, you start loving. This is the miracle of conversion. This is the answer to the lovelessness and the selfishness which destroys relationships. Joining a church, turning over a new leaf, going to confession, just “being religious,” is not the solution. A relationship with God through His son is the only way you will really begin to love. I will give you three simple guidelines that will help. Guideline #1: Acknowledge you need a relationship with God and confess that sin has stopped the flow of love in your life. It’s easy to point a finger and say, “Well, it was his fault; her fault.” The solution is saying, “God, I need you. Forgive me. Touch my life.” Guideline #2: Ask God’s forgiveness for your failure—not the other person’s—and ask Him to be Lord and Savior. Jesus gave us a promise. He said, “I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and have fellowship with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). That promise has your name on it, friend. Guideline #3: Begin loving in simple steps, one day at a time. When you fail and fall back into those old habits and a loveless way, quickly admit your wrong; ask God’s help to overcome it. Friend, you can talk about love until you have calluses on your vocal cords, but until you get back to the fountain and the source of love, who is God Himself, you’ll never lay hold of the real thing: the God kind of love that changes the world. So, go back to the source. It’s the only way to fill your cup and have enough left over for someone else in your life. Love is not a pious platitude. It’s the answer. Resource Reading: 1 John 4:1-21

He was nearly chilled to death, and was about to give up the struggle for life, when he heard the moans of a fellow traveler who was also perishing with cold. His sympathy was aroused, and he determined to rescue him. He chafed the ice-cold limbs of the unfortunate man, and after considerable effort raised him to his feet. As the sufferer could not stand, he bore him in sympathizing arms through the very drifts he had thought he could never get through alone. When he had carried his fellow traveler to a place of safety, the truth flashed home to him that in saving his neighbor he had also saved himself. His earnest efforts to help another had quickened the blood that was freezing in his own veins and sent a healthy warmth to the extremities of his body. The lesson that in helping others we ourselves receive help must be urged upon young believers continually, by precept and example, that in their Christian experience they may gain the best results. Let the desponding ones, those disposed to think that the way to eternal life is trying and difficult, go to work to help others. Such efforts, united with prayer for divine light, will cause their own hearts to throb with the quickening influence of the grace of God, their own affections to glow with more divine fervor. Their whole Christian life will be more of a reality, more earnest, more prayerful.... The testimonies borne by them in the Sabbath services will be filled with power. With joy they will bear witness to the preciousness of the experience they have gained in working for others. [235]

Hello, I would like to share with you the message from 17 août 2026 from “The Good Seed” daily calendar. God drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, at the boundary of light and darkness. (Job 26:10) The earth – ingeniously protected Water is essential for life as we know it. Water can be found everywhere on earth. Clouds carry it there, sometimes it rains or snows, other times fog carries it; even in deserts, dew falls.  On earth, there are 1.4 billion cubic kilometres of water in an endless cycle. Only 0.0001 percent of it exists as water vapour in the atmosphere. To ensure that none of this precious resource is lost, there is a kind of built-in vapour barrier above us. When water evaporates and rises, it freezes into ice crystals. These crystals then fall back down due to gravity.  This process prevents water from evaporating into space, and thus maintains a temperate planet, suited to the continuation of life.  Additionally, we have our atmosphere. If there were neither an earth atmosphere nor an earth magnetosphere, we would be constantly exposed to x-rays, bombarded by solar wind, and hit by meteorites. Life would be exterminated, and the planet earth uninhabitable. However, as it is, the earth travels through the solar system at supersonic speed, protected by the ozone layer and the atmosphere.  I must confess, I lack the belief that all of this could have happened randomly and gradually formed, so perfectly and beautifully. No – God “drew a circular horizon” and formed the atmosphere and the horizon on earth. And into the universe, He placed lights “for signs and seasons, and for days and years”.  With David, I say, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork” (Genesis 1:14; Psalm 19:1). 🚨 Canadian officials proceeded with lethal injection after an 83-year-old grandmother stayed silent An 83-year-old Christian grandmother who had already rejected assisted suicide was euthanized under Canada’s MAiD program after her family says she never gave the required final verbal consent. Brigitte Stegemann, known to her family as GG, lived at The Pearl long-term care facility in Belleville, Ontario, and had been diagnosed with untreatable Stage IV stomach cancer five months earlier. Two months before her death she clearly told staff she did not want Medical Assistance in Dying because it violated her Christian faith and she wanted to die naturally. While her granddaughter, who held legal power of attorney and had advocated for her for more than 12 years, was away on a 10-day vacation, facility staff reopened the conversation privately without informing the family. Stegemann was completely deaf in one ear and could hear only minimally in the other, and she was frequently lethargic and unresponsive. During formal assessments on July 6th and 7th she gave incorrect answers to basic questions, saying she had no siblings even though she was the second-youngest of 14 children, and claiming none of her siblings were still alive when some were and she had spoken with one the previous week. She became disoriented, cried, and confused her surviving siblings with her great-grandchildren. The family corrected most of her answers and challenged the physician on how she could be declared capable. The doctor still ruled her capable of consenting, ordered the family out of the room, and scheduled the procedure for July 10th. Staff later admitted the death date had been set before the official paperwork was finished, and facility employees completed and witnessed the forms themselves. Officials even tried to move the injection forward by a full day to fit the physician’s schedule. On the morning of July 10th, the family took Stegemann outside for fresh air and gave her a scoop of her favorite strawberry ice cream while waiting for her pastor, as she had requested. After staff inserted an intravenous line that left blood on her bedding and surroundings, the physician arrived. The family had been assured she would have to give explicit verbal confirmation immediately beforehand, yet Stegemann remained silent with her hands held in a prayer position. The clinical team administered the lethal injection anyway. Her relatives say they were left alarmed and horrified. They accuse the system of clinical arrogance, secrecy, and a total lack of transparency, describing her death in their public statement as a systemic failure driven by a blatant disregard for the safeguards meant to protect vulnerable patients. They point out that she had already said no because of her faith, yet staff reopened the subject while her longtime advocate was away, excluded her power of attorney from critical discussions, and proceeded despite her silence at the final moment. The family is now demanding accountability and asking how an elderly, hearing-impaired woman who could not correctly identify her own family was deemed capable of consenting to her own death. By April 2026 more than 100,000 Canadians had already died under the MAiD system. This case shows how protections can collapse for the elderly, hearing-impaired, and cognitively fragile. Canada’s MAiD program has grown increasingly predatory, expanding far beyond its original limits and routinely placing pressure on the most vulnerable.

The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” Song of Solomon 2:11–12 What is the sign of the coming of spring for you? The first green blades of grass? Robins in the yard? For me, the frog choruses are always what I look forward to. When I lived in Michigan, I was amazed to hear the tap-tap-tapping of the wood frogs as soon as the ice thawed; but in southern Illinois, the first songs we hear are the chorus frogs, followed closely by the spring peepers. The former reminds me of the sound you get when you run your finger over the tines of a comb, and the latter sounds like the cheeping of little birds. These are soon followed by the wailing of Fowler’s toads, the snoring sounds of the crayfish frogs, and the cackling of the southern leopard frogs. I often like to tell people that the crayfish frogs are snoring and the leopard frogs are laughing at them! More voices soon follow, for the sounds of other species will take up the call as the first ones cease. There will be voices all summer long and well into the fall. While it isn’t exactly music, frog sounds fill my heart with joy. God’s funny, rubbery little creatures sing with such boldness and abandon! Only the threat of imminent danger will silence them—and then, only temporarily. God is always faithful. As we move through the seasons of our lives, we may mourn the losses and ignore the gains. One constant remains, however: God is with us through everything. Our Creator never tires of sending us evidence of His love, from one season to the next. The same God is the Creator of all, and He never changes. Bible prophecies tell us that difficult and dangerous times are coming. God has revealed these things because He wants His people to be forewarned, not surprised. But instead of gaining confidence because of the trustworthiness of God’s Word, some are filled with fear or panic instead. Perhaps, like the frogs, they will lapse into frightened silence. So how is it with your heart? Is the future still something to look forward to? Do you fear it or face it with the expectation of good? Trial and danger may silence us temporarily, but we can have confidence and joy, knowing that whatever comes, it will end in good. The future is better than the past. In the words of Paul, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17–18.
