Need to know. Signs You Have an Octopus Spirit! What is the Octopus Spirit? This is a spirit that causes you to feel like your mind is wrapped, squeezed, and pulled in many directions at once. It clouds your thinking, steals your peace, and tries to choke out your spiritual life with lies that sound like your own voice. The Bible does not use the word ‘octopus’ but it does describe this type of mental attack and calls us to take every thought captive to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) So here are 8 points, or ‘tentacles,’ that can show if you are being oppressed by this spirit. Tentacle #1: You have intrusive thoughts that you did not invite. For example: - You are worship and a blasphemous thought flashes in. - You are driving and a thought tells you to hurt yourself. - You are holding your child and a dark image appears. You feel sick inside and wonder what is wrong with you. James 1:14 shows the enemies entices and whispers. You are not the thoughts you did not invite. Tentacle #2: Every thought turns hopeless. You make one small mistake and your mind jumps to ‘it is over.’ You have one bad day and feel, ‘this is who I am forever.’ If your thoughts keep ending in, ‘there is no point,’ that is a sign of mental oppression. Tentacle #3: You have mental loops that don’t stop. - You replay old conversations nonstop. - You reheard disasters that have not happened. - You wake up at night and relive things you cannot change. You are not processing. You are in torment. The octopus spirit keeps your mind spinning without peace. Tentacle #4: Your thoughts become your identity. You used to think, ‘I am struggling with fear.’ Now you say, ‘I am a fearful person.’ You used to think, ‘I am tempted by lust.’ Now you call yourself a lustful person. The Bible tells you to take thoughts captive, not to wear them as your name. When a repeated thought becomes how you describe yourself, it turns into a stronghold. Tentacle #5: Prayer feels heavy and numbing feels easy. The Bible feels boring, worship feels hollow, and prayer feels dry and heavy. But scrolling, eating, drinking, and binge watching feel effortless. This can be spiritual warfare that pulls you away from what nourishes your spirit and drags you toward what only numbs you. Tentacle #6: You hide and isolate. You start thinking things like: - ‘Do not tell anyone.’ - ‘They will judge me.’ - ‘No one will understand.’ - ‘Handle your problems alone.’ This spirit thrives in secrecy and isolation. The Bible calls us to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other to be healed. (James 5:16) When you think your thoughts into the light, the grip of this spirit begins to loosen. Tentacle #7: You live in mental fog and double mindedness. You feel constant fog in your mind and struggle to focus, pray, and make decisions. Some days you feel close to God, but other days you feel numb and distant. That fog is not from your Father. It is the enemy clouding the water so you cannot see clearly. Tentacle #8: You start giving yourself permission to sin. At first the voice in your head tempts you. Then it starts to sound like permission. - ‘You deserve it.’ - ‘Just do it this once.’ - ‘God will understand.’ - ‘It’s not that serious.’ When your own thoughts start writing permission slips and signing God’s name on them, this is a sign that this spirit is at work. If you see these signs in your life, it does not mean things are hopeless. It means the Holy Spirit is bringing this into the light so Jesus can set you free. Here is what to do: - Come to Jesus and confess that your mind belongs to Him. - Identify the lies and name them out loud as lies. - Replace lies with the truth of Scripture. - Repent of any open doors and invite Jesus to close them. - In the name of Jesus, command every spirit tied to these lies to leave. - Refuse isolation and share honestly with a trusted, mature believer. - Begin to renew your mind daily in the word of God. You do not have to live with this forever. In Christ there is real freedom.

God’s people are not simply convinced of the truth. They have allowed Christ to complete His work in them. Hebrews 8:10 “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.” God’s law is no longer merely something written on stone. It has been written into their hearts and reflected in their lives. Through complete surrender to Christ, sin has been overcome and His character has been reproduced in them. Revelation 14:5 describes this final generation: “And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.” They have reached the point where they would rather die than knowingly sin against God. They are settled into the truth — both intellectually and spiritually — so completely that they cannot be moved. This is why Revelation 14:12 says: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” The sealing is therefore more than understanding the Sabbath. It is the finishing of Christ’s work in His people. His law is written in their hearts. His character is reflected in their lives. Sin no longer has dominion over them. They stand fully surrendered and faithful to God. Christ is preparing a people who will reflect His character completely before He returns. The question is not only: “Do I know the truth?” The deeper question is: “Am I allowing Christ to reproduce His character in me?”

30 August The Beginning of True Wisdom Proverbs 9:10 (AMP) “The fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and preeminent part of wisdom [its starting point and its essence]; and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding and spiritual insight.” True wisdom begins with God. The world often defines wisdom as having knowledge, experience, intelligence, or the ability to make good decisions. But Proverbs 9:10 reveals something deeper: wisdom starts with our relationship with the Lord. To fear God does not mean being terrified of Him. It means honoring Him, reverencing Him, recognizing His greatness, and giving Him His rightful place in our lives. When we truly understand who God is, we begin to see everything else from the right perspective. We can have plenty of knowledge and still make foolish choices. We can be educated yet lack spiritual understanding. But when we know the Holy One, He gives us insight that goes beyond human reasoning. Sometimes God’s wisdom will lead us in a direction that doesn't make sense to the world. It may tell us to wait when everyone else says, “Act now.” It may tell us to forgive when our emotions say, “Hold on to the hurt.” It may tell us to trust when we cannot see the outcome. That is where wisdom begins—when we place God above our own understanding. Today, don't simply ask God for more knowledge. Ask Him for a heart that reverences Him and seeks His ways. The more we know Him, the more clearly we can recognize His voice, understand His ways, and walk according to His purpose. Prayer Heavenly Father, Teach me to reverence You above everything else. Help me not to depend only on my own understanding, but to seek Your wisdom in every decision I make. Give me spiritual insight and a heart that desires to know You more deeply. Let Your wisdom guide my thoughts, my words, my choices, and my relationships. May my life reflect the wisdom that comes from knowing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Today’s Reflection Am I making decisions based primarily on what I think is right, or am I first seeking God’s wisdom and direction? Remember: When God is the foundation, His wisdom becomes the direction.

TRUST GOD—EVEN WHEN IT LOOKS BAD! Focus Scripture — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV) “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Thought Of The Day... There are seasons when trusting God is easy because everything seems to be working out. The doors are opening. The prayers are being answered. The family is doing well. The bills are getting paid. Your plans are coming together. But can you still trust God when everything looks bad? Can you trust Him when the report isn't what you wanted? Can you trust Him when the money is running low? Can you trust Him when the relationship is struggling? Can you trust Him when the door closes? Can you trust Him when you prayed—and nothing seems to have changed? Can you trust Him when you cannot understand what God is doing? That's where real trust is developed. WHEN WHAT YOU SEE DOESN'T MATCH WHAT GOD SAID Proverbs tells us: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Our understanding is limited because we can only see what is happening right now. But God sees the beginning, the middle, and the end. We see the problem. God sees the purpose. We see the closed door. God sees the better door. We see the delay. God sees the appointed time. We see what we're losing. God sees what He's preparing. That's why God tells us not to lean entirely upon our own understanding. Sometimes what God is doing will not make sense while you're going through it. Joseph's pit didn't look like promotion. Israel standing at the Red Sea didn't look like deliverance. Daniel's lions' den didn't look like protection. The three Hebrew boys standing before the fiery furnace didn't look like victory. Jesus hanging on Calvary didn't look like resurrection. But what looked bad wasn't the end of the story! And whatever you're facing today, don't judge the ending by what you're seeing in the middle. 1. TRUST GOD WHEN YOU CAN'T TRACE GOD Sometimes God will allow you to walk through a season where you cannot figure Him out. You prayed. You believed. You obeyed. Yet things appear to have gotten worse instead of better. Job declared: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” — Job 13:15 (KJV) Job was essentially saying, I don't understand what God is allowing, but my confusion will not cancel my confidence in Him. That's mature faith. Faith doesn't require God to explain everything before we trust Him. Sometimes you have to say: “Lord, I don't understand it—but I trust You.” 2. DON'T LET WHAT YOU SEE MAKE YOU FORGET WHAT GOD SAID The enemy wants your circumstances to become louder than God's promises. But Scripture declares: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) Sight says, “It's impossible.” Faith says, “With God all things are possible.” Sight says, “You're surrounded.” Faith says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Sight says, “There's no way out.” Faith says, “God will make a way.” Your circumstances may be real, but they don't have the final word—God does! 3. GOD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE IT One of the hardest parts of trusting God is believing He's working when there is no visible evidence. But Romans 8:28 reminds us: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…” Notice Scripture doesn't say everything is good. Some things hurt. Some things disappoint us. Some things break our hearts. Some things leave us with questions. But God has the power to take even the things that were not good and cause them to work together for good. Just because you can't see God moving doesn't mean God isn't moving. He can be arranging things you know nothing about. Opening doors you haven't reached yet. Touching hearts you haven't spoken to. Blocking things you thought you needed. Preparing answers to prayers you almost stopped praying. God can be working behind the scenes while you're wondering whether He's working at all. 4. DON'T PANIC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY You may be looking at your situation and thinking, “How is this going to work out?” You don't have to know how. You just have to know Who. Psalm 46:1 declares: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God didn't promise that trouble would never come. He promised that when trouble comes, you won't face it alone. So don't panic because the chapter you're currently reading looks bad. God is still writing your story. Your setback may become the setup. Your disappointment may become divine direction. Your closed door may become God's protection. Your wilderness may become your training ground. Your waiting season may become your preparation season. Don't put a period where God has only placed a comma. REMEMBER THIS TODAY When things look bad, God is still good. When you can't see the way, God still knows the way. When you don't understand the plan, God still has a plan. When you feel surrounded, God is still with you. When you don't know what tomorrow holds, God is already there. So instead of saying, “God, look how big my problem is!” Start declaring, “Problem, look how BIG my God is!” Your situation may look bad today. BUT GOD IS NOT FINISHED! DECLARATION... I WILL TRUST GOD EVEN WHEN I DON'T UNDERSTAND! I will not allow what I see to destroy what I believe. I will not allow fear to speak louder than God's promises. I will not panic because things look bad. My God is faithful. My God is working. My God is with me. My God has not forgotten me. And even when I cannot see His hand, I will trust His heart. I'M GOING TO TRUST GOD UNTIL THE STORY CHANGES! PRAYER... Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we thank You because You are trustworthy even when life is uncertain. Lord, some of us are facing situations that don't look good. Some are carrying family concerns, financial pressure, disappointment, unanswered questions, closed doors, and burdens nobody else knows about. But today we choose faith over fear and trust over worry. When we cannot understand Your plan, help us trust Your wisdom. When we cannot see Your hand, help us remember Your faithfulness. Remind us that You are working even when we cannot see it. Give us peace while we're waiting, strength while we're walking, and faith while we're believing. And when fear whispers, “It's over,” remind us that You have the final word! We declare that our circumstances will not determine our confidence in You. We trust You when it looks good. We trust You when it looks bad. We trust You when we understand. And we trust You when we don't. Because You have never stopped being God! In Jesus' mighty name, Amen! 🙏 THANK YOU, LORD, FOR THE GIFT OF LIFE Good morning, people of God. Good morning, humanity. ❤️ This morning, I want to begin with one simple and powerful word: Thank You, Lord. We do not know why we were born or why God has given us the grace to still be alive today. We did not choose to come into this world. Yet the Supreme Being, the God of Israel, freely gave us the precious gift of life and the breath in our lungs. So, if I were standing where you are today, what would I say? I would simply say: “Lord, thank You for everything.” Thank You for life. Thank You for Your grace. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for the Holy Bible, which teaches us Your truth and gives us strength to believe, hope, and love more deeply each day. Every morning, I ask myself: “Lord, what can I still change in my life so that I can become a better person before You? How can I grow in holiness, humility, love, forgiveness, and truth?” Because walking with God is not simply about talking about God. It is about allowing God to transform the way we live. The Bible reminds us: “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19 If my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, how can I despise it? How can I use my life to hurt others, hate, lie, humiliate, or destroy? And Scripture also tells us: “So God created mankind in his own image.” — Genesis 1:27 My brother, my sister, take a moment and think about this: You were created in the image of God. And so was your neighbor. The person you love was created in God's image. The person you struggle to love was also created in God's image. So why should we despise someone whom God created? Why should we hurt someone whose life has value before God? Why should we live in pride when everything we have is ultimately a gift of grace? And there is another truth that should live in our hearts every day: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20 Oh, Lord! If Christ truly lives in me, then my heart should reflect Christ. My words should reflect Christ. My actions should reflect Christ. The way I treat others should reflect Christ. My forgiveness should reflect Christ. My love should reflect Christ. Let us look around us and recognize the greatness of God. The birds of the sky, the trees, the stars, the beauty of creation—all remind us that we are not here by our own power. We are God's creation, standing before our Creator. And yet, God does not treat us according to our failures, our mistakes, or our pride. He continues to give us time. Time to repent. Time to change. Time to forgive. Time to love. Time to return to Him. That is the depth of His grace. God could have turned away from us because of our failures, but He continues to call us. He says, in essence: “Come back to Me. Change your heart. Love one another. Walk in truth.” That is why, people of God, we should never take life for granted. Every breath is a gift. Every morning is a blessing. Every new day is another opportunity to choose love, kindness, forgiveness, and faith. So let us not allow pride, hatred, ignorance, or bitterness to control our lives. Instead, let us ask God for hearts that reflect His character: A humble heart. A compassionate heart. A patient heart. A forgiving heart. A joyful heart. A heart ready to serve and do good. Jesus teaches us: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” — Matthew 22:39 Imagine what our world could look like if we truly lived by these words. Less hatred. Less revenge. Less violence. Less division. Less deception. And more forgiveness. More love. More respect. More kindness. More unity. More peace. More smiles. ❤️ That is a life that truly reflects God. So this morning, I invite you to say with me: 🙏 I was created in the image of God. 🙏 My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. 🙏 It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. And above all, let us pray: “Lord, I recognize that my life is a gift of Your grace. Keep me from pride. Teach me to be humble, to love, to forgive, to serve, and to walk in Your truth. Let my life be a testimony of Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your love.” People of God, let us recognize God's grace while we still have time. May our lives not simply be long, but meaningful, faithful, holy, valuable, and pleasing to God. May God give us the wisdom to understand that every human being is precious in His sight—and therefore, every human being should also be precious in our eyes. Let us choose peace. Let us choose forgiveness. Let us choose love. Let us choose hope. Let us choose to be a blessing to someone today. Daily devotion for August 30th The Unequal Yoke Must we hear now that you too are doing all this terrible wickedness and are being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women? Nehemiah 13:27 The nations among whom Israel was called to live were unusually degenerate. They practiced public lewdness. Their immorality had spread diseases among their people. They killed their children by throwing them alive into furnaces of fire in worship to their god Molech. To protect the Israelites from these dangerous practices, God had told them not to intermarry with these peoples. Though intermarriage might look right and proper to us, it would introduce to the Israelites attitudes and concepts that would ultimately undermine their faith and destroy them and their nation. This is what happened. Though Solomon, David's own son, was said to be the wisest man who ever lived, he contracted over a thousand marriages with foreign women who brought their gods with them and eventually introduced pagan practices into the worship of Israel. By the time Solomon's son came to the throne, the nation was so divided it could no longer exist as one but was separated into two. So this was a very wise pledge to make. This command is actually repeated in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians, not concerning racial distinctions, but religious. He says, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Many Christians have ignored that to their own detriment by intermarrying with others of a different faith. They have thereby so undermined their own faith that evil in many ways has ultimately crept in and destroyed their marriages. There is no guarantee that if you marry a Christian you are going to have a happy marriage, because there are other principles involved. But it is much more likely that two Christians will be happy together because there are principles and practices taught to us in the Word that make for happiness in marriage. It is certain that if you disobey this command, however, you are opening the door to much heartache, struggle, and misery. There are passages designed to help people who have disobeyed this principle because God is very practical and merciful. He recognizes that for various reasons, intermarriage may occur. There are guidelines to help handle those situations. But by and large this is practical wisdom that needs to be adhered to today. Marry those who share the same faith you have, because faith is the basis for all of life. Lord, the guidelines You have given for living are good and right. Thank You that You love enough to protect me from that which ultimately would bring hurt and misery to me and to others.

SUNDAY 30TH AUGUST 2026 IGNITE YOUTH DEVOTIONAL Topic: Your Mistake Is Not Your Identity Bible Reference For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again. Proverbs 24:16 (NKJV) A Short Story Samuel was doing well in school until he made a serious mistake. He had always been one of the better students in his class, but during an important examination, he allowed fear and pressure to influence him. He cheated, and he was caught. The school punished him, and his parents were deeply disappointed. After that experience, Samuel changed. He stopped believing in himself. Whenever people talked about academic success, he remembered his failure. He began telling himself that he was no longer the responsible person everyone thought he was. Even when teachers encouraged him to work harder, he felt that his past had already ruined his future. One afternoon, his teacher, Mr. James, called him aside after class. He told Samuel that what he had done was wrong and that he should not pretend otherwise. However, he also told him something Samuel needed to hear. You made a bad decision, but you are not a bad person. Take responsibility for what happened, learn from it, and make better decisions from now on. Samuel went home thinking about those words. He realised that he had made two mistakes. The first was cheating in the examination. The second was allowing that mistake to become the way he saw himself. He decided to start again. He apologised to his parents, accepted the consequences of his actions, and became more serious about his studies. He stopped looking for shortcuts and began preparing properly for his examinations. His journey was not easy. There were times when he remembered his past and felt ashamed, but he refused to return to his old way of thinking. Eventually, he became more disciplined and performed much better in his next examinations. Samuel never forgot his mistake, but he stopped allowing it to define him. The experience became a lesson that helped him become more honest, responsible, and disciplined. Today's Message Everybody makes mistakes. Some mistakes are small, while others can have serious consequences. As you grow through your teenage years, young adulthood, career, relationships, business, and family life, you will make decisions that you will later wish you had handled differently. You may fail an examination. You may choose the wrong friends. You may waste money. You may enter a relationship you should have avoided. You may make a poor business decision. You may say something that hurts someone. You may fall into a sinful habit. You may make a decision that brings shame or disappointment. When this happens, do not pretend that the mistake did not happen. Take responsibility for it. Learn from it. Apologise where necessary. Accept correction and make changes. But do not allow one mistake to convince you that your life is over. Proverbs 24:16 says that a righteous person may fall seven times and rise again. The message is not that righteous people never fall. It is that falling does not have to be the end of their story. Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus restored him and gave him work to do. David made serious mistakes, yet he humbled himself before God and continued to serve Him. The Bible does not hide the failures of these people because God wants us to understand that failure does not automatically cancel a person's future. You may have made a mistake that you are ashamed of. Perhaps nobody else knows about it, but you think about it whenever you are alone. You may have told yourself that God cannot use you anymore. You may believe that you have gone too far to start again. That is not the message of Scripture. If you have sinned, repent. If you have hurt someone, apologise. If you have made a foolish decision, learn from it. If you need help, seek it. If there are consequences, face them. But after doing what is right, do not spend the rest of your life punishing yourself for a past that God wants to use as a lesson. There is a difference between guilt that leads you to repentance and shame that makes you believe you are worthless. God can correct you without destroying you. His correction is meant to bring you back, not to convince you that you have no future. You also need to be careful about the names you give yourself. Do not keep saying, I am a failure. Do not keep saying, Nothing good can come from me. Do not keep saying, I always make bad decisions. Do not allow a mistake to become your identity. You made a mistake. That is different from saying that you are a mistake. Your past may explain some things about you, but it does not have to control your future. What matters now is what you do with the lesson. Perhaps you failed in one area of your life. That does not mean you must fail in every other area. Perhaps one relationship ended badly. That does not mean you can never have a healthy relationship. Perhaps your business failed. That does not mean you can never become successful. Perhaps you performed badly in school. That does not mean you cannot improve. Start again with wisdom. This time, do things differently. Get better advice. Build better habits. Choose better friends. Study harder. Pray more. Ask questions. Be accountable. Avoid the environment that led you into the mistake. Starting again does not mean returning to the same behaviour and expecting a different result. It means taking what you have learned and using it to make better choices. Your story is not finished because you made a mistake. There is still room to grow. There is still room to change. There is still room to rebuild. There is still room to become better. Get up and keep moving. What To Do Today 1. Think about one past mistake that still affects the way you see yourself. 2. Accept responsibility for it, learn the lesson, and decide what you will do differently. 3. If you need to apologise or make something right, take that step. 4. Stop describing yourself by your past mistakes and begin focusing on the person you are becoming. Prayer Lord, help me to learn from my mistakes without allowing them to destroy my confidence or my future. Give me the humility to accept correction, the courage to apologise when I am wrong, and the wisdom to make better decisions. Help me to receive Your forgiveness and move forward with a clean heart. Teach me to see myself through Your Word and not through my past failures. Give me grace to rise again and become the person You have called me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
