Lord, move in our families as never before! Go into every home, touch every heart, and meet every need. Father, we lift up every family member who does not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Your Word says You are “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). Lord, save our sons, daughters, grandchildren, spouses, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Draw them to Jesus and bring the wandering ones home! Father, touch every family member dealing with physical sickness, mental and emotional struggles, pain, disease, anxiety, fear, discouragement, or exhaustion. “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed.” — Jeremiah 17:14 (KJV) Lord, heal bodies, strengthen minds, restore peace, guide doctors, and give wisdom concerning every treatment and decision. Father, we cry out for those struggling with drugs and alcohol. Break every chain of addiction! Destroy destructive cycles and give them strength, treatment, support, and godly people to walk with them toward freedom. “He brought them out of darkness... and brake their bands in sunder.” — Psalm 107:14 (KJV) Lord, we place our finances before You. Provide where there is lack. Give us wisdom, discipline, favor, opportunity, and resources. Help us become faithful stewards of everything You place in our hands. We pray for every family member seeking employment. “Establish thou the work of our hands upon us.” — Psalm 90:17 (KJV) Lord, open doors no one can shut. Give favor with applications, résumés, interviews, and employers. Lead them to the right opportunities. And for those who are already employed, Father, we thank You! Now we believe You for increase, advancement, salary increases, new opportunities, and promotion according to Your will. Lord, heal broken relationships. Restore communication. Break generational cycles. Remove unforgiveness, division, and bitterness. Protect our children, marriages, homes, and loved ones from dangers seen and unseen. Father, move through our bloodline! Save our family. Heal our family. Deliver our family. Provide for our family. Restore our family. Protect our family. The One who wears the true crown of the universe, God’s beloved Son. We need to fall on our face and see Him as the Holy One, the Highest One, the Only One. As you do, all your fears, save the fear of Christ Himself, will melt like an ice cube on a summer day. You will agree with David: ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?’ In the book Prince Caspian, there is a great illustration of this. Lucy sees Aslan the lion for the first time in many years. He has changed since their last encounter. His size surprises her, and she tells him as much. ‘Aslan,’ says Lucy, ‘you’re bigger.’ He replies, ‘That is because you are older, little one.’ Lucy says, ‘Not because you are?’ He replies, ‘I am not. But every year you grow, you find me bigger.’ And so it is in our walk with Christ. The longer we serve Him, the greater He becomes. It’s not that He changes, but that we do. We see dimensions, aspects, characteristics we never saw before; increasing and astonishing increments of His purity, power, and uniqueness. When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25. And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26. Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. *Timeless Truth:* _But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you _*(Matthew 6:33)*. *INTRODUCTION* In 1997, the world watched as Mother Teresa continued her work among the poor and dying in Calcutta despite having very limited material resources. Her ministry was not built around accumulating possessions, but around serving people and pointing them toward Christ. Her life demonstrated that material needs, though important, cannot by themselves satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart. This truth is reflected in Jesus' encounter with the crowd in John 6. The people had witnessed the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. They had received bread miraculously and when they could no longer find Jesus, they sought for Him. However, Jesus exposed the motive behind their search: *“You seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.”* (John 6:26) They were pursuing Jesus primarily because of what He could give them, rather than because of who He is. Jesus then redirected their attention from temporary bread to eternal nourishment: The passage challenges us to examine our motives: Are we seeking Christ because we love Him or primarily because of what we hope to receive from Him? The crowd came looking for Jesus, but Jesus knew why they were looking for Him. They had eaten the bread, enjoyed the miracle and wanted more. Their problem was not that they wanted bread. Their problem was that they wanted bread without fully recognizing the Bread of Life. This remains a danger for Christians today. We can seek God for: employment, healing, financial breakthrough, academic success, marriage, protection, promotion, material provision and all these things may legitimately be brought before God in prayer. However, if our relationship with Christ is reduced to what He can provide, we have misunderstood discipleship. Jesus is not merely the Provider of bread; He is the Bread of Life. The greatest blessing is not what God places in our hands, but who God places in our hearts. Physical bread sustains the body temporarily. Money can provide comfort temporarily. Success can bring recognition temporarily. Possessions can give pleasure temporarily, but none of these can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human soul. Only Christ can do that. Therefore, we must examine our priorities. Are we spending more time pursuing things than pursuing God? Are we more excited about God's gifts than about God's presence? Do we pray only when we need something or do we desire fellowship with Christ because we love Him? The answer of Jesus is clear: *Do not labour for the food which perisheth, but for the food which endureth to everlasting life.* Let us therefore, seek Christ above possessions, eternal life above temporary success and God's kingdom above worldly satisfaction. When Christ becomes our greatest treasure, we can enjoy God's blessings without allowing those blessings to become our god. The deepest hunger of the human heart can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. *1. The Pursuit of Temporary Satisfaction* a. The crowd crossed the sea looking for Jesus, but their motivation was primarily physical. The people sought diligently for Jesus after discovering that He had left. Seeking Christ is good, but our motives matter. We should seek Jesus not merely for His blessings, but because He is worthy of our love and devotion. b. The crowd had witnessed a miracle and wanted more. They were attracted to what Jesus could do rather than surrendering themselves to who Jesus is. *(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)* (2 Corinthians 5:7) — Miracles can point us toward Christ, but miracles themselves must never become the foundation of our faith. Physical food satisfies temporarily; eventually, we become hungry again. *Questions* (i) What do I pursue most—God Himself or the blessings I hope to receive from Him? (ii) Have material possessions, comfort, success or recognition become more important to me than spiritual growth? *2. The Priority of Eternal Substance* a. Jesus redirected the crowd from physical food toward the nourishment that leads to eternal life. This does not mean Christians should neglect legitimate work or physical responsibilities. Rather, eternal things must have first priority. Our careers, businesses, education and possessions are important, but none should replace our pursuit of God. b. Jesus made it clear that eternal life ultimately comes from God. *For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:* (Ephesians 2:8). We cannot earn salvation through human achievement. When the crowd asked what they should do, Jesus answered: The central response God desires is genuine faith in Jesus Christ. *Questions* (i) Am I investing as much energy in my spiritual life as I invest in my career and material needs? (ii) Am I trusting Christ for salvation or am I depending on my good works and religious activities? *3. The Provision of Sufficient Bread* a. The crowd remembered the manna given to Israel in the wilderness and asked Jesus for a sign. They referred to Moses and the manna: They were focusing on an earlier miracle instead of recognizing the greater One standing before them. Past spiritual experiences are valuable testimonies, but we must continue walking with Christ today. b. Jesus corrected their understanding: *Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.*(John 6:32.) God's provision in the wilderness pointed beyond physical manna to Christ Himself. We can trust God to provide what we genuinely need while remembering that our greatest need is spiritual life in Christ. The crowd responded: *“Lord, give us this bread always.”* Although they still misunderstood, their request provided an opportunity for Jesus to reveal the truth that became explicit in the following verse: *And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst* (John 6:35).Jesus Himself is the ultimate provision for the deepest hunger of the human soul. *Questions* (i) Where do I turn when I experience emotional, spiritual or inner emptiness? (ii) Am I allowing Christ to satisfy my deepest spiritual hunger through His Word and fellowship? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord, help me to seek You above every temporary possession, achievement and earthly ambition.🙏 2. Father, create within me a deeper hunger and thirst for Your Word, Your presence and Your righteousness.🙏 3. Sadly, the crowd in our text sought Jesus for temporal gratification, not eternal salvation! Jesus saw their motive for seeking Him and punctured their search with a scathing, incisive, yet profoundly true remark: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled".* *The Bible is clear that our ultimate source of happiness and pleasure is God. David wrote, "In thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore". Jesus told the disciples: "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full". We will find fullness of joy and pleasures forever when we seek the Lord rightly.* *Beloved, never seek the Lord for superficial motives. They are a mirage; bubbles that never last. Beyond the bread (healing, deliverance, prosperity and miracles) that Christ gives, seek Him who is the Bread of Life, the Bread from heaven. Be discreet to shun dispensing your life energy on labouring for perishable material things that will never satisfy the imperishable soul. "Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?" (Isaiah 55:2). He still saves as many as would come to Him for salvation and restores backsliders who truly repent. God does not despise genuine hunger and thirst for righteousness. TUESDAY MORNING PRAYER FOR OUR FAMILY! “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15 (KJV) Heavenly Father, we come before You this Tuesday morning with grateful hearts, thanking You for the gift of another day. Thank You for watching over our family through the night, for waking us up this morning, and for giving us another opportunity to experience Your grace, mercy, and love. Your Word declares, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). So regardless of what yesterday looked like or what today may bring, we choose to rejoice because You are still God, You are still faithful, and our family is still in Your hands. Lord, we place every member of our family before You today—the young and the old, parents and children, husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and loved ones near and far. Cover every household connected to our family. Father, go before us today. Your Word says, “The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore” (Psalm 121:8). Protect those traveling to work, school, appointments, and wherever this day may take them. Surround our vehicles, homes, workplaces, schools, and communities with Your protection. Lord, strengthen every family member who is tired, discouraged, overwhelmed, worried, or carrying burdens they have not told anyone about. Remind them that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Give strength to the weary, peace to the troubled, and hope to those who feel like giving up. Father, we lift up every family member dealing with sickness, pain, disease, medical concerns, procedures, treatments, or recovery. You declared, “I am the LORD that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). Touch bodies from the crowns of their heads to the soles of their feet. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, caregivers, and medical professionals. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is weakness, bring strength. Where there is uncertainty, bring peace. We stand on Your Word: “With his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Lord, touch the minds of our family members. Break the grip of fear, anxiety, depression, confusion, stress, and constant worry. Your Word tells us, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6). Let “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding” (Philippians 4:7) guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Father, we pray for anyone in our family struggling with addiction, alcohol, drugs, destructive habits, or anything that has taken control of their life. Break every chain and destroy every stronghold. Your Word declares, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Lord, set them free and restore what addiction has tried to steal. We pray for our marriages and relationships. Strengthen husbands and wives. Restore communication, trust, affection, patience, forgiveness, and commitment. Guard marriages against temptation, infidelity, division, bitterness, and outside interference. Let every home remember, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:9). Bless our children, grandchildren, and young people. Protect their minds, their bodies, their futures, their friendships, and their decisions. Keep them from dangerous influences and wrong relationships. Your Word says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Draw our young people closer to You and give them courage to stand for righteousness. Father, we pray for every family member facing financial difficulties, unemployment, underemployment, debt, or uncertainty concerning their future. Open doors that no one can shut. Provide jobs, promotions, raises, opportunities, resources, and financial wisdom. Teach us to be good stewards of everything You place into our hands. We trust Your promise: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Lord, bring unity into our family. Heal old wounds. Remove grudges, jealousy, unforgiveness, misunderstandings, gossip, and division. Give us the humility to apologize when we are wrong and the grace to forgive when we have been hurt. Your Word says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1). Comfort every family member who is grieving or missing someone they love. When memories bring tears, wrap Your loving arms around them. Remind them that “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18). Give them strength for the difficult moments and peace when the emptiness feels overwhelming. Father, we pray especially for those who are caregivers. Strengthen those caring for aging parents, sick spouses, children, relatives, and loved ones. When they become physically and emotionally exhausted, renew their strength. Your Word declares, “They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). Give caregivers patience, wisdom, rest, compassion, and help when they need it. Lord, protect our family from attacks we can see and attacks we cannot see. We declare, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). Cancel every plan designed to bring destruction, confusion, division, or discouragement into our homes. And Father, above everything else, draw our entire family closer to Jesus. For those who know You, strengthen their relationship with You. For those who have wandered away, bring them home. For those who have never surrendered their lives to Christ, soften their hearts and save them. We declare over our household, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). As we step into this Tuesday, help us walk by faith and not by sight. Help us speak life instead of death, encouragement instead of criticism, faith instead of fear, and love instead of anger. We declare that our family is covered. Our family is protected. Our family is being healed. Our family is being restored. Our family is being strengthened. Our family is being provided for. Our family is walking in unity. Our children are covered. Our marriages are covered. Our homes are covered. And our future is in God's hands! For Your Word declares, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. Thank You for what You have already done, what You are doing right now, and what You are preparing to do in our family. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise. In the mighty, matchless, powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen, Amen, and Amen! TUESDAY DECLARATION... Today, we declare that our family belongs to God! We will not walk in fear because the Lord goes before us. We will not be defeated because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Our homes will have peace, our bodies will experience strength, our minds will be guarded, our needs will be supplied, and our family will walk in God's purpose. We all have things we wish would disappear from our lives: a character flaw, a bad habit, an addiction... Salvation is instantaneous, but spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. Our natural instinct is to try to change ourselves through sheer willpower. Yet this approach often leads to failure, frustration, and guilt. The more we focus on ourselves and our weaknesses, the more power we give them. Jesus teaches us a completely different way. While speaking with a woman at a well, He said: "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:13–14) The woman replied, "Sir, give me this water." Only then did Jesus reveal her past, telling her that she had had five husbands and that the man she was living with was not her husband (John 4:15–18). This encounter unfolds in two stages. First, Jesus reveals what He is able to do in her life. He speaks of a living spring capable of transforming her from within. For two thousand years, this promise has continued to be fulfilled. Lives have been restored, depression has been overcome, and countless men and women have been set free from alcohol, tobacco, pornography, and drug addiction. This is the work of the Spirit of Christ in a heart that opens itself to Him. Only afterwards does Jesus expose what is keeping her in bondage. He does not do this to condemn her, but to show her the very place where He wants to bring freedom. Perhaps she had been trying to fill a deep emptiness or a longing for love through her relationships—a thirst that nothing had ever truly satisfied. This is a crucial detail: Jesus knew about her sin from the very beginning. Yet He did not start there. Instead, He first drew her attention to the new life He wanted to give her. God still works this way today. When He looks at us, He does not focus first on our failures. He sees what His grace can accomplish in us. He sees the potential of His Spirit in a life that is fully surrendered to Him. This is the key to lasting transformation: turning our eyes away from ourselves and fixing them on Christ. The more we discover His love, His power, and our identity in Him, the less power sin has over us. I once knew a man who had been trapped in pornography for twenty-seven years. His addiction had driven him into despair and even suicidal thoughts. Then he discovered God's love. He came to understand that, in Christ, he was fully loved, fully justified, and that "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). Without even realizing it, his addiction gradually lost its grip on him. Soon afterward, God blessed him with a wife. His freedom did not come through his own efforts, but through a revelation of God's grace. The Bible encourages us to "fix our eyes on Jesus" (Hebrews 12:2). As we behold who He is and all that He has accomplished for us, His Spirit works within us. Then rivers of living water begin to flow from our innermost being, and we are transformed into His image from glory to glory.

Daily devotion for August 5th Standing Up To The Enemy The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it. Nehemiah 2:20 The men who opposed the rebuilding of the wall stood outside the covenant of promise. None of the three had any claim to the promise of God to inherit the land. That is why Nehemiah took this stand. The form their opposition took is also prophetic of our struggles. They first mocked and ridiculed. This is usually the first weapon the enemy employs. You may have felt it when you began to recover from your ruin. Your friends laughed at your desires to change. They may have ridiculed your religious convictions and resented with scorn your implied criticisms of their conduct. Also, Nehemiah's enemies began to threaten and slander him with charges of rebellion and disloyalty. If ridicule does not work, then the opposition stiffens and becomes openly unfriendly and threatening. It is the next level of resistance that those who seek to rebuild will encounter. These are but pictures for us. They picture the opposition and the resistance that we will experience from Satan himself. What was true of these opposing forces in Nehemiah's case is true also of Satan. He is a usurper who has tricked us and led us astray. Yet he has no right to do so. Jesus came to restore God's property to Him and to loose the hold of the devil upon the human race. That is what He does in our lives. So when we face resistance, we must see it as something God allows to strengthen us, but Satan has no real right to our lives. We do not need to be bound by habits from the past. No matter how innocently they may have begun, we do not need to be slaves to drugs, sex, alcohol, tobacco, or whatever may be controlling and limiting us. Remember Paul's great cry, I will not be mastered by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12). Why? Because he was under the power of God. This is what Nehemiah declares here. There is no necessity to be a slave to a hot temper or a critical attitude or a complaining spirit. These areas of ruin in our lives can be set aside because we are expecting God to grant us the grace to stand. That is why, with great determination, Nehemiah clenches his fist and says, Look, the God of heaven is with us. He will give us success. We, his servants, will start rebuilding. Do what you like. It is not going to stop us. You are usurpers and have no right to this land. What we are tracing here are the steps of recovery from ruin. There are three of them that we have covered so far: First, a deep concern that leads us to prayer and sorrow; then, an opportunity for change to which we must make response; and then, the facing of the facts of our situation honestly and squarely. When we begin these steps, we have well begun the process of change. Let us take them with confidence that God will enable us to rebuild our walls and restore our gates to His praise and glory and our grateful relief. Thank You, Father, that I can face the enemy with boldness and confidence, knowing that I am free, and he has no right or power over me.
