# **DWELLING IN THE SECRET PLACE** There is a difference between **visiting God and living close to God**. Psalm 91:1 says, *“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”* I think of the secret place as that quiet space where you can put everything down for a moment—the things you cannot explain to anyone, the worries you carry into the night, the questions you are afraid to ask out loud. It is where you come before God without pretending that everything is fine. In His presence, you can breathe again. The secret place is not necessarily a particular room, building, or mountain. It is a life of intimacy with God. It may be those early minutes before everyone else wakes up, a quiet corner after a long day, or simply a moment in your car when you turn everything off and talk honestly to God. **To dwell means to remain.** It is more than running to God when life falls apart and then forgetting Him when things become comfortable. It is learning to walk with Him in ordinary days as well as difficult ones. When you make God's presence a regular part of your life, prayer becomes more than an emergency call; it becomes a relationship. Something changes when you spend time with God consistently. Your problems may not disappear overnight, but your perspective begins to change. You become less controlled by fear and less dependent on people's approval. You begin to recognize God's voice, understand His Word more clearly, and make decisions from a place of faith rather than panic. The secret place does not promise a life without trouble; it gives you somewhere to stand when trouble comes. **Psalm 91:2** says, *“I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’”* Perhaps you have been trying to carry too much on your own. You have been strong for everyone else, answering messages, solving problems, meeting expectations, and quietly wondering who will strengthen you. **Come back to the secret place.** You don't have to arrive with perfect words. Come tired. Come confused. Come grateful. Come disappointed. Just come. God is not asking you to perform; He is inviting you into His presence. Don't make the secret place somewhere you visit only when you are desperate. **Make it your dwelling.** Let prayer become part of your rhythm. Let Scripture shape your thinking. Let worship quiet your heart. And when the storms come—and they will—you will have something deeper than circumstances to hold onto. **You will know where your strength comes from, where your peace is found, and where you can return when everything around you feels uncertain.**

1 September Have Never Seen the Righteous Forsaken 📖 Psalm 37:25 (AMP) “I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous [those in right standing with God] abandoned or his descendants pleading for bread.” God Has Never Forgotten You There are seasons when life can make you wonder whether God sees what you are going through. You may look at your circumstances and think, “Lord, how am I going to get through this?” Perhaps provision seems uncertain, the future feels unstable, or you have been waiting so long for an answer that discouragement has begun to creep into your heart. But David gives us a powerful testimony: he had lived long enough to see many seasons, yet he could testify that God had never abandoned His righteous ones. Notice that David didn't say the righteous never experience hardship. He didn't say they never face lack, disappointment, uncertainty, or difficult seasons. His testimony was that God does not abandon His children in the middle of those things. Sometimes God's provision doesn't arrive in the way or timing we expected. Sometimes He provides through an unexpected opportunity, a person, a door that opens, strength for another day, or simply the grace to keep going when we don't know what tomorrow holds. But He remains faithful. Your present circumstance is not proof of God's absence. A difficult season does not mean God has forgotten your name. A delayed answer does not mean He has changed His mind about you. A season of uncertainty does not mean you are walking alone. The same God who carried you through yesterday is already present in your tomorrow. 🌱 Remember What God Has Already Done David's confidence came from looking back. “I have been young and now I am old…” In other words: “I have lived long enough to know that God is faithful.” There is power in remembering. Think back over your own journey. Remember the doors God opened. Remember the times you thought you wouldn't make it, yet somehow you did. Remember the strength that came when you had none left. Remember the provision that arrived at just the right moment. Those moments become reminders for today: If God was faithful then, He is still faithful now. You don't have to understand everything God is doing to trust the God who is doing it. ❤️ God Is Your Provider Psalm 37:25 reminds us that our security ultimately does not come from our circumstances—it comes from God. People can change. Jobs can change. Economies can change. Plans can change. Life can change. God does not. He knows what you need before you ask. He sees what you cannot see. He knows where your provision will come from before you even know there is a need. So today, refuse to let fear tell you that you have been forgotten. Lift your eyes above the circumstance and remember the character of your Father. He is faithful. He is trustworthy. He is your provider. He will not abandon you. Your story isn't finished. 🙏 Prayer Father, Thank You for reminding me that You never abandon those who trust in You. When I look at my circumstances and become afraid of what tomorrow may bring, help me to remember Your faithfulness. Thank You for every time You have carried me, provided for me, protected me, and made a way when I couldn't see one. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear to make me question Your presence. Help me to trust You even when I don't understand Your timing. Teach me to walk by faith and not by what I see. Give me peace when provision seems uncertain and courage when the future feels unknown. Lord, I choose to believe that You have not forgotten me. You are still my Provider. You are still my Shepherd. You are still my refuge. You are still faithful. Let my life become a testimony like David's—that after walking through many seasons, I can look back and say: “God never left me. God never abandoned me. God was faithful every step of the way.” In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏 🌸 Today’s Declaration “I will not fear what tomorrow holds, because I know who holds tomorrow. God has never abandoned me, and He will remain faithful to me. I am not forgotten. I am not alone. PRAYER TO RESIST AND DESTROY EVIL ALTERS Heavenly Father, I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You are the Most High God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Your Word says in Psalm 91:2, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust." Right now, I stand on the rock of Your truth to break, resist, and destroy every evil altar speaking against my life, my family, my community, and my ministry. 1. Renouncing and Resisting Evil Voices The Scripture: "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord..." (Isaiah 54:17). The Prayer: Lord, I silence every evil altar speaking failure, sickness, confusion, and delay into my life and community. I command every demonic voice crying out from hidden altars of darkness to be silenced by the blood of Jesus. I refuse to agree with any word or decree sent from an evil altar. 2. Pulling Down Demonic Strongholds The Scripture: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;" (2 Corinthians 10:4). The Prayer: Father, by Your Holy Spirit, I release the fire of God to dismantle every foundational and territorial evil altar fighting my progress. I pull down every stronghold of generational curses, witchcraft, and ancestral worship that has tied down my family, my church, and my city. Let the horns of the wicked be broken right now in Jesus' name. 3. Destroying and Burning Evil Altars The Scripture: "But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire." (Deuteronomy 7:5). The Prayer: O Lord, send Your consuming fire to burn to ashes every satanic altar erected against my ministry and community. I decree that every covenant and sacrifice speaking against my destiny is nullified by the blood of Jesus. Every priest of darkness ministering at evil altars against my life is dethroned and disgraced today. 4. Claiming Ultimate Victory and Freedom The Scripture: "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." (2 Timothy 4:18). The Prayer: Thank You, Lord, because I am victorious. My life, my community, and my ministry are hidden in Christ. I walk in total freedom, divine protection, and unhindered breakthrough from this day forward. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray. Amen

TRUST GOD—EVEN WHEN IT LOOKS BAD! Focus Scripture — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV) “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Thought Of The Day... There are seasons when trusting God is easy because everything seems to be working out. The doors are opening. The prayers are being answered. The family is doing well. The bills are getting paid. Your plans are coming together. But can you still trust God when everything looks bad? Can you trust Him when the report isn't what you wanted? Can you trust Him when the money is running low? Can you trust Him when the relationship is struggling? Can you trust Him when the door closes? Can you trust Him when you prayed—and nothing seems to have changed? Can you trust Him when you cannot understand what God is doing? That's where real trust is developed. WHEN WHAT YOU SEE DOESN'T MATCH WHAT GOD SAID Proverbs tells us: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Our understanding is limited because we can only see what is happening right now. But God sees the beginning, the middle, and the end. We see the problem. God sees the purpose. We see the closed door. God sees the better door. We see the delay. God sees the appointed time. We see what we're losing. God sees what He's preparing. That's why God tells us not to lean entirely upon our own understanding. Sometimes what God is doing will not make sense while you're going through it. Joseph's pit didn't look like promotion. Israel standing at the Red Sea didn't look like deliverance. Daniel's lions' den didn't look like protection. The three Hebrew boys standing before the fiery furnace didn't look like victory. Jesus hanging on Calvary didn't look like resurrection. But what looked bad wasn't the end of the story! And whatever you're facing today, don't judge the ending by what you're seeing in the middle. 1. TRUST GOD WHEN YOU CAN'T TRACE GOD Sometimes God will allow you to walk through a season where you cannot figure Him out. You prayed. You believed. You obeyed. Yet things appear to have gotten worse instead of better. Job declared: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” — Job 13:15 (KJV) Job was essentially saying, I don't understand what God is allowing, but my confusion will not cancel my confidence in Him. That's mature faith. Faith doesn't require God to explain everything before we trust Him. Sometimes you have to say: “Lord, I don't understand it—but I trust You.” 2. DON'T LET WHAT YOU SEE MAKE YOU FORGET WHAT GOD SAID The enemy wants your circumstances to become louder than God's promises. But Scripture declares: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) Sight says, “It's impossible.” Faith says, “With God all things are possible.” Sight says, “You're surrounded.” Faith says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Sight says, “There's no way out.” Faith says, “God will make a way.” Your circumstances may be real, but they don't have the final word—God does! 3. GOD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE IT One of the hardest parts of trusting God is believing He's working when there is no visible evidence. But Romans 8:28 reminds us: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…” Notice Scripture doesn't say everything is good. Some things hurt. Some things disappoint us. Some things break our hearts. Some things leave us with questions. But God has the power to take even the things that were not good and cause them to work together for good. Just because you can't see God moving doesn't mean God isn't moving. He can be arranging things you know nothing about. Opening doors you haven't reached yet. Touching hearts you haven't spoken to. Blocking things you thought you needed. Preparing answers to prayers you almost stopped praying. God can be working behind the scenes while you're wondering whether He's working at all. 4. DON'T PANIC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY You may be looking at your situation and thinking, “How is this going to work out?” You don't have to know how. You just have to know Who. Psalm 46:1 declares: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God didn't promise that trouble would never come. He promised that when trouble comes, you won't face it alone. So don't panic because the chapter you're currently reading looks bad. God is still writing your story. Your setback may become the setup. Your disappointment may become divine direction. Your closed door may become God's protection. Your wilderness may become your training ground. Your waiting season may become your preparation season. Don't put a period where God has only placed a comma. REMEMBER THIS TODAY When things look bad, God is still good. When you can't see the way, God still knows the way. When you don't understand the plan, God still has a plan. When you feel surrounded, God is still with you. When you don't know what tomorrow holds, God is already there. So instead of saying, “God, look how big my problem is!” Start declaring, “Problem, look how BIG my God is!” Your situation may look bad today. BUT GOD IS NOT FINISHED! DECLARATION... I WILL TRUST GOD EVEN WHEN I DON'T UNDERSTAND! I will not allow what I see to destroy what I believe. I will not allow fear to speak louder than God's promises. I will not panic because things look bad. My God is faithful. My God is working. My God is with me. My God has not forgotten me. And even when I cannot see His hand, I will trust His heart. I'M GOING TO TRUST GOD UNTIL THE STORY CHANGES! PRAYER... Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we thank You because You are trustworthy even when life is uncertain. Lord, some of us are facing situations that don't look good. Some are carrying family concerns, financial pressure, disappointment, unanswered questions, closed doors, and burdens nobody else knows about. But today we choose faith over fear and trust over worry. When we cannot understand Your plan, help us trust Your wisdom. When we cannot see Your hand, help us remember Your faithfulness. Remind us that You are working even when we cannot see it. Give us peace while we're waiting, strength while we're walking, and faith while we're believing. And when fear whispers, “It's over,” remind us that You have the final word! We declare that our circumstances will not determine our confidence in You. We trust You when it looks good. We trust You when it looks bad. We trust You when we understand. And we trust You when we don't. Because You have never stopped being God! In Jesus' mighty name, Amen! (5)" ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?...’ Psalms 27:1 NKJV WE ALL need an encounter with the transfigured Christ; the One who is greater than Moses the law giver and Elijah the prophet, and all the other prophets who have ever lived. The One who wears the true crown of the universe, God’s beloved Son. We need to fall on our face and see Him as the Holy One, the Highest One, the Only One. As you do, all your fears, save the fear of Christ Himself, will melt like an ice cube on a summer day. You will agree with David: ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?’ In the book Prince Caspian, there is a great illustration of this. Lucy sees Aslan the lion for the first time in many years. He has changed since their last encounter. His size surprises her, and she tells him as much. ‘Aslan,’ says Lucy, ‘you’re bigger.’ He replies, ‘That is because you are older, little one.’ Lucy says, ‘Not because you are?’ He replies, ‘I am not. But every year you grow, you find me bigger.’ And so it is in our walk with Christ. The longer we serve Him, the greater He becomes. It’s not that He changes, but that we do. We see dimensions, aspects, characteristics we never saw before; increasing and astonishing increments of His purity, power, and uniqueness. Only when we have fallen at His feet in humility and total dependence will He say to us what He said to His disciples on the Mount where He was transfigured: ‘…“Arise, and do not be afraid”’ (Matthew 17:7 NKJV). When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25. And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26. Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. *Timeless Truth:* _But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you _*(Matthew 6:33)*. *INTRODUCTION* In 1997, the world watched as Mother Teresa continued her work among the poor and dying in Calcutta despite having very limited material resources. Her ministry was not built around accumulating possessions, but around serving people and pointing them toward Christ. Her life demonstrated that material needs, though important, cannot by themselves satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart. This truth is reflected in Jesus' encounter with the crowd in John 6. The people had witnessed the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand. They had received bread miraculously and when they could no longer find Jesus, they sought for Him. However, Jesus exposed the motive behind their search: *“You seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.”* (John 6:26) They were pursuing Jesus primarily because of what He could give them, rather than because of who He is. Jesus then redirected their attention from temporary bread to eternal nourishment: The passage challenges us to examine our motives: Are we seeking Christ because we love Him or primarily because of what we hope to receive from Him? The crowd came looking for Jesus, but Jesus knew why they were looking for Him. They had eaten the bread, enjoyed the miracle and wanted more. Their problem was not that they wanted bread. Their problem was that they wanted bread without fully recognizing the Bread of Life. This remains a danger for Christians today. We can seek God for: employment, healing, financial breakthrough, academic success, marriage, protection, promotion, material provision and all these things may legitimately be brought before God in prayer. However, if our relationship with Christ is reduced to what He can provide, we have misunderstood discipleship. Jesus is not merely the Provider of bread; He is the Bread of Life. The greatest blessing is not what God places in our hands, but who God places in our hearts. Physical bread sustains the body temporarily. Money can provide comfort temporarily. Success can bring recognition temporarily. Possessions can give pleasure temporarily, but none of these can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human soul. Only Christ can do that. Therefore, we must examine our priorities. Are we spending more time pursuing things than pursuing God? Are we more excited about God's gifts than about God's presence? Do we pray only when we need something or do we desire fellowship with Christ because we love Him? The answer of Jesus is clear: *Do not labour for the food which perisheth, but for the food which endureth to everlasting life.* Let us therefore, seek Christ above possessions, eternal life above temporary success and God's kingdom above worldly satisfaction. When Christ becomes our greatest treasure, we can enjoy God's blessings without allowing those blessings to become our god. The deepest hunger of the human heart can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. *1. The Pursuit of Temporary Satisfaction* a. The crowd crossed the sea looking for Jesus, but their motivation was primarily physical. The people sought diligently for Jesus after discovering that He had left. Seeking Christ is good, but our motives matter. We should seek Jesus not merely for His blessings, but because He is worthy of our love and devotion. b. The crowd had witnessed a miracle and wanted more. They were attracted to what Jesus could do rather than surrendering themselves to who Jesus is. *(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)* (2 Corinthians 5:7) — Miracles can point us toward Christ, but miracles themselves must never become the foundation of our faith. Physical food satisfies temporarily; eventually, we become hungry again. *Questions* (i) What do I pursue most—God Himself or the blessings I hope to receive from Him? (ii) Have material possessions, comfort, success or recognition become more important to me than spiritual growth? *2. The Priority of Eternal Substance* a. Jesus redirected the crowd from physical food toward the nourishment that leads to eternal life. This does not mean Christians should neglect legitimate work or physical responsibilities. Rather, eternal things must have first priority. Our careers, businesses, education and possessions are important, but none should replace our pursuit of God. b. Jesus made it clear that eternal life ultimately comes from God. *For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:* (Ephesians 2:8). We cannot earn salvation through human achievement. When the crowd asked what they should do, Jesus answered: The central response God desires is genuine faith in Jesus Christ. *Questions* (i) Am I investing as much energy in my spiritual life as I invest in my career and material needs? (ii) Am I trusting Christ for salvation or am I depending on my good works and religious activities? *3. The Provision of Sufficient Bread* a. The crowd remembered the manna given to Israel in the wilderness and asked Jesus for a sign. They referred to Moses and the manna: They were focusing on an earlier miracle instead of recognizing the greater One standing before them. Past spiritual experiences are valuable testimonies, but we must continue walking with Christ today. b. Jesus corrected their understanding: *Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.*(John 6:32.) God's provision in the wilderness pointed beyond physical manna to Christ Himself. We can trust God to provide what we genuinely need while remembering that our greatest need is spiritual life in Christ. The crowd responded: *“Lord, give us this bread always.”* Although they still misunderstood, their request provided an opportunity for Jesus to reveal the truth that became explicit in the following verse: *And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst* (John 6:35).Jesus Himself is the ultimate provision for the deepest hunger of the human soul. *Questions* (i) Where do I turn when I experience emotional, spiritual or inner emptiness? (ii) Am I allowing Christ to satisfy my deepest spiritual hunger through His Word and fellowship? *Prayer Points* 1. Lord, help me to seek You above every temporary possession, achievement and earthly ambition.🙏 2. Father, create within me a deeper hunger and thirst for Your Word, Your presence and Your righteousness.🙏 3. Lord, teach me to trust Your provision and to remain content with what You graciously provide.🙏 4. As Solomon makes clear in Ecclesiastes, any earthly thing that you seek to satisfy the inner void is like chasing soap bubbles. You catch one only to have it burst in your hand.* *Our text opens with a narrative about seekers of Jesus. Seeking Jesus is a good thing, but it is not enough. What you seek Him for is more important. The sinner must seek Him for salvation, recognising he is spiritually bankrupt without His gift of salvation. Sadly, the crowd in our text sought Jesus for temporal gratification, not eternal salvation! Jesus saw their motive for seeking Him and punctured their search with a scathing, incisive, yet profoundly true remark: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled".* *The Bible is clear that our ultimate source of happiness and pleasure is God. David wrote, "In thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore". Jesus told the disciples: "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full". We will find fullness of joy and pleasures forever when we seek the Lord rightly.* *Beloved, never seek the Lord for superficial motives. They are a mirage; bubbles that never last. Beyond the bread (healing, deliverance, prosperity and miracles) that Christ gives, seek Him who is the Bread of Life, the Bread from heaven. Be discreet to shun dispensing your life energy on labouring for perishable material things that will never satisfy the imperishable soul. He still saves as many as would come to Him for salvation and restores backsliders who truly repent. God does not despise genuine hunger and thirst for righteousness. The other eight heard the boy cry, they slowed down and looked back. Then all of them turned around and went back to the fallen athlete. Lifting him up, they walked together to the finish line. More than winning for ourselves, what matters in this life is helping others to win, even if it means slowing down. God's Favor Meets Faithful Obedience Scripture Ruth 2:12 (NKJV) The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge. God's Providence in Ordinary Moments Ruth 2 beautifully reveals how God works behind the scenes to accomplish His purposes. After arriving in Bethlehem with Naomi, Ruth did not wait for life to become easier. Instead, she went into the fields to glean grain, following God's provision for the poor. Her willingness to work demonstrated both humility and faith. The Bible says that Ruth "happened" to come to the field belonging to Boaz. From a human perspective it appeared to be a coincidence, but from God's perspective it was divine providence. The Lord was quietly directing every step of Ruth's journey, leading her exactly where she needed to be. Boaz noticed Ruth's character before he noticed anything else. He had already heard about her faithfulness to Naomi and her decision to leave her homeland in order to trust the God of Israel. Rather than taking advantage of her vulnerability, Boaz showed compassion, generosity, protection, and kindness. He instructed his workers to leave extra grain for her and invited her to eat with his servants. Boaz's blessing in verse 12 reveals the heart of the chapter. Ruth had placed herself under the wings of the Lord for refuge. She had left behind everything familiar to trust the living God, and God was already providing for her through His unseen hand. Ruth could not yet see the full plan that God was unfolding. She simply remained faithful in the responsibilities before her. Yet every ordinary act of obedience became part of God's extraordinary plan of redemption. Believers often wonder whether God is working when life seems ordinary. Ruth 2 reminds us that God's providence is frequently hidden within everyday moments. The conversations we have, the places we go, the work we faithfully perform, and the people we meet may all be part of His greater purpose. God's guidance is often seen more clearly in hindsight than in the moment. Our responsibility is not to understand every detail of His plan but to remain faithful where He has placed us. Reflection Questions 1. Am I faithfully serving God in the ordinary responsibilities He has given me? 2. Do I trust that God is directing my steps even when I cannot see His plan? 3. How have I experienced God's provision in unexpected ways? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithful provision and for working behind the scenes in my life. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing. Give me a humble and faithful heart like Ruth, willing to serve You in the ordinary moments of life. *The Power of Words* Words have power. We use thousands of them every day to communicate. They help us share joy and sadness. They help us learn and grow. We use them to build each other up—or to tear each other down. And yet, we often underestimate the impact of our words. Are you giving thought to the words you speak over yourself or about others daily? Are they words rooted in doubt, fear, and insecurity, or do they come from the truth, goodness, and security in God’s promises? In *Psalm 46:1,* the Psalmist makes a powerful declaration of God's truth and promise: *“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”* And this declaration leads to action in the next verse: *“Therefore we will not fear” (verse 2).* Our declarations have the power to guide our actions. So what is it that you are declaring? Maybe today, you need the reminder to speak the truth of the words that come from God—our refuge, strength, and ever-present help in trouble *(Psalm 46:1).* As God's child, we have been given freedom in Christ to choose and use words wisely *(Colossians 4:6, Ephesians 4:29)* So today, as we remember that God is our refuse and strength, let's choose words of life. May our tongue be an instrument of blessing, as we declare what is true, pure, admirable, and praiseworthy *(Philippians 4:8)* *Prayer* Father God, we want to believe Your promises—that You are our refuge and strength. Help us to believe it. Help our trust in You translate into actions. You know what we are up against. And yet, we know that we can face all things with You. When we are weak, You are strong.
