YOU SHALL SPROUT AGAIN. . TEXT: Job 14:7-9. (KJV). "For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant." Other Texts: (Numbers 23:19; Joshua 21:45; 2 Corinthians 1:20; Genesis 21:1–2; Deuteronomy 7:9; Isaiah 55:10–11; Habakkuk 2:3; 1 Kings 8:56.) 🌅 Introduction: There are seasons in life when it appears that everything has come to an end. Dreams seem buried, businesses collapse, ministries become dry, families experience heartbreak, and health fails. The enemy whispers, "It is over." But God declares through Job 14:7, "There is hope." Our God specializes in bringing life out of death, beauty out of ashes, and restoration after devastation. If a tree can sprout again after being cut down, then a child of God can also rise again. No matter how much has been lost, you shall sprout again. I. YOUR SETBACK IS NOT YOUR END. Job 14:7 A tree may be cut down, but its roots remain alive. The enemy may cut down your finances, reputation, relationships, or ministry, but if your roots remain in Christ, your future is secure. Job lost everything, yet God restored him double (Job 42:10-17). Joseph was betrayed, sold into slavery, and imprisoned before becoming governor (Genesis 37; 39-41). Naomi returned to Bethlehem empty, but God filled her again through Ruth (Ruth 1-4). A farmer does not uproot every tree after cutting its branches because he knows that life is still hidden beneath the surface. Likewise, what appears dead to people may still be alive in God's hands. People may write you off, but God has not finished writing your story. 2. THE ROOT DETERMINES THE FUTURE. Job 14:8 "Though the root thereof wax old..." God focuses on the root rather than the branches. The branches represent visible success. The roots represent: Prayer, Faith, Character, Holiness, God's Word A believer with deep roots can recover after any storm. (Psalm 1:3, Jeremiah 17:7-8, Colossians 2:6-7) Never neglect your spiritual roots during difficult seasons. 3. THE SCENT OF WATER BRINGS REVIVAL. Job 14:9 The tree sprouts not because someone pushes it but because it senses water. Throughout Scripture, water represents: The Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39) The Word of God (Ephesians 5:26) God's refreshing presence (Isaiah 44:3) The moment God's presence touches a dry life, restoration begins. Ezekiel's dry bones came alive by God's Spirit (Ezekiel 37:1-14). Samson regained strength when his hair grew again (Judges 16:22). Peter failed terribly, yet Jesus restored him and he became a bold preacher (John 21:15-19). During drought, fields appear lifeless. Yet when rain falls, seeds hidden beneath the soil suddenly germinate. What looked dead was only waiting for the right season. Stay connected to God's presence because one encounter can change everything. 4. GOD RESTORES WHAT SEEMS LOST God is the God of restoration. (Joel 2:25-27, Isaiah 61:7, Psalm 126:1-6) God restores: Lost opportunities, Joy, Peace, Relationships, Ministries, Finances, Health etc. Lazarus came back from the grave (John 11). The Shunammite woman received back her land and possessions (2 Kings 8:1-6). The prodigal son was restored to his father's house (Luke 15:11-24). God's restoration is often greater than what was lost. 5. SPROUTING AGAIN REQUIRES FAITH. Faith sees life where others see death. (Hebrews 11:1, Mark 9:23, Romans 4:17-21) Abraham believed against hope. Sarah conceived in old age. Nothing is impossible with God. Faith keeps believing until God's promise becomes reality. 6. DO NOT DESPISE SMALL BEGINNINGS. When a tree sprouts again, it starts with a small shoot. God often begins restoration in small ways. (Zechariah 4:10, Isaiah 60:22) David moved from shepherd boy to king one step at a time (1 Samuel 16; 2 Samuel 5). Celebrate every sign of progress because God often starts small before doing something great. 7. YOUR TESTIMONY WILL ENCOURAGE OTHERS. When God restores you, your life becomes a testimony. (Psalm 40:1-3, Revelation 12:11) Others who have lost hope will gain courage because of what God has done for you. LESSONS FOR TODAY'S CHRISTIAN Never conclude your life before God has finished His work. Remain rooted in Christ during difficult seasons. Stay in God's presence because revival comes from Him. Believe that restoration is possible even after great loss. Be patient with God's timing. Small beginnings can lead to great breakthroughs. Your restored life will glorify God and strengthen the faith of others. PRACTICAL APPLICATION Ask yourself: Are my spiritual roots still alive? Am I staying close to God through prayer and His Word? Am I trusting God's promises more than my present circumstances? Am I ready to recognize the new beginning God is bringing? Even if life has "cut you down," God can cause you to sprout again. SUMMARY. The enemy may have cut down your dreams, delayed your progress, or shaken your confidence, but he cannot destroy what God has planted. The same God who restored Job, raised Lazarus, revived dry bones, and restored Peter is still at work today. Your current season is not your final chapter. By the power of the Holy Spirit, new life will emerge from what seemed finished. Your joy will return, your calling will flourish, your faith will grow stronger, and your testimony will declare God's faithfulness. Remember God's promise: "For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again..." (Job 14:7, KJV). Declare by faith: I shall sprout again. My hope is alive in Christ. My dry season is coming to an end. God is restoring every area of my life. My latter days shall be greater than my former days. My testimony will bring glory to God. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. SERMON: WAKE UP AND CHOOSE HOLINESS — OR MISS ETERNAL LIFE Text: Hebrews 12:14 — "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord." Text 2: Matthew 7:21 — "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father." INTRODUCTION: Church, we love to say "I am saved, I believe." True, we are saved by grace through faith Ephesians 2:8. But Bible says believe without obedience, without living pure life, earns no eternal life. James 2:17,26 — Faith without works is dead. Dead faith cannot save. This is a warning to church that has got GREEN 7 vision on the wall — calling for spiritual revival, repentance, awakening, rebirth. Get prepared now or you will miss eternal life and be cast in eternal fire. For eternal life God gives it to righteous only. PART 1: BELIEVING ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH — OBEDIENCE IS PROOF Romans 6:16 — "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?" You say you believe, but you still obey jealousy, gossiping, quarreling, fornication, lies — you are still slave to sin leading to death. Luke 6:46 — Jesus says "Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not do things which I say?" 1 John 2:3-4 — "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says I know Him and does not keep His commandments is a liar, and truth is not in him." Titus 1:16 — They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him. Many in church are saved but living flesh mindset — that is compromise of truth. PART 2: WHAT IS COMPROMISE OF TRUTH? — THE FLESH MINDSET You must wake up and choose holiness above all else — above prosperity gospel, above money, above fame. Compromise = Choosing prosperity gospel over holiness. Choosing flesh mindset. Galatians 5:19-21 — "Now works of flesh are evident: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries... those who practice such things will not inherit kingdom of God." Look: Jealous, gossiping, quarreling = will NOT inherit kingdom. That is what you wrote. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 — Neither fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners will inherit kingdom. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 — In last days men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient — having form of godliness but denying its power. Church, if you still live like this, your salvation is not finished. PART 3: THOUGH YOU ARE SAVED, YOU MUST RUN A CLEAN RACE TO END Philippians 2:12 — "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Hebrews 12:1 — "Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, laying aside every weight and sin which so easily ensnares us." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 — Paul says "I have fought good fight, I have finished race, I have kept faith. Finally there is laid up for me crown of righteousness, which Lord, righteous Judge, will give to me." Not starting race — finishing clean race. 1 Corinthians 9:27 — Paul says "I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified." Matthew 24:13 — "He who endures to end shall be saved." Your final salvation is at end, not at beginning. 1 Peter 1:9 — receiving end of your faith — salvation of your souls. PART 4: GREEN 7 VISION ON WALL — CALL FOR REVIVAL, REPENTANCE, AWAKENING, REBIRTH You asked what is Green 7 on wall. This is what God showed me, Reagan, His servant witness. Proverbs 29:18 — Where there is no vision, people perish. GREEN = Mercy, life, green pastures Psalm 23:2, revival, Holy Spirit life. Psalm 52:8 — I am like green olive tree in house of God. 7 = Completion, perfection Genesis 2:2-3, fullness of God. GREEN 7 ON WALL = Final fullness of God's mercy calling for: Spiritual Revival: Habakkuk 3:2 — "O LORD, revive Your work in midst of years." Psalm 85:6 — Will You not revive us again? Repentance: Acts 3:19 — "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come." Awakening: Ephesians 5:14 — "Awake, you who sleep, arise from dead, and Christ will give you light." Romans 13:11 — Now it is high time to awake out of sleep. Rebirth: John 3:3,5 — Unless one is born again, born of water and Spirit, cannot enter kingdom. This vision was given so you don't miss eternal life. Wall means it is written before you — warning is posted. PART 5: ETERNAL LIFE GOD GIVES TO RIGHTEOUS ONLY — OR ETERNAL FIRE Revelation 21:8 — "But cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is second death." Matthew 25:46 — These will go away into everlasting punishment, but righteous into eternal life. Romans 2:6-8 — God "will render to each one according to his deeds: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey truth, but obey unrighteousness — indignation and wrath." Psalm 11:7 — For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness. God is righteous Judge 2 Timothy 4:8 — He cannot give eternal life to unrighteous. Must be righteous — washed by blood AND living pure Revelation 7:14, 14:4-5. 144,000 are seen as pure before God Rev14:4-5 — blameless. That is righteousness. CONCLUSION: CHOOSE NOW Joshua 24:15 — Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. Deuteronomy 30:19 — I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life. Saved, church — wake up! Stop prosperity gospel lie that says "once saved always saved while living in sin." Stop flesh mindset — jealous, gossiping, quarreling. Green 7 is last mercy. Next is RED 7 — blood, judgment complete. And skeleton vision — dead bones without Spirit. Pray: In Name of JESUS THE LAMB OF GOD, I repent! I turn from compromise of truth! I choose holiness above all else Heb 12:14! I will run clean race to end Heb 12:1! I receive Green 7 revival, awakening, rebirth John 3:3! August 30 🌿 “WHEN I CANNOT SEE HIS HAND” WHEN MY PRAYER SEEMS UNANSWERED 📖 Habakkuk 1:2 (LLV) — “O LORD, how long must I cry for help and You do not hear? I cry out to You about violence, but You do not save.” There are prayers we pray once. And there are other prayers we carry for a very long time. We pray in the morning. Again at night. Tomorrow we pray again. Days pass. Perhaps months. Perhaps years. And still nothing seems to change. Habakkuk knew that frustration. “How long must I cry for help?” This was not the prayer of someone who had just begun asking. He had been crying out to God. And from Habakkuk's perspective, God had not answered. “You do not hear.” Those are bold words. Perhaps even uncomfortable words. But once again, Scripture allows a faithful person to speak honestly to God. Habakkuk does not abandon God. He complains to God. There is an important difference. He could have walked away. Instead, he keeps the conversation going. Even his complaint is an act of faith. He still believes there is Someone listening to the complaint. But Habakkuk cannot understand God's silence. He sees violence. Injustice. Destruction. Conflict. Things are wrong, and Habakkuk knows they are wrong. So he asks the question many believers have asked: “God, why aren't You doing something?” Sometimes our unanswered prayers are personal. Heal someone I love. Restore this relationship. Open this door. Provide what I need. Help my child. Take away this burden. Other times, like Habakkuk, we look at the world around us and pray: “Lord, please make this right.” And then we wait. One of the hardest lessons of prayer is discovering that God's silence is not the same thing as God's absence. Nor does His delay necessarily mean He has said no. God eventually answers Habakkuk. But His answer will not be what Habakkuk expected. In fact, it will create even more questions. That too is part of faith. Sometimes we ask God for an answer when what we really want is an answer we will understand. But God's purposes may be unfolding far beyond what we can currently see. So what do we do while we wait? Habakkuk shows us. We keep talking. We keep asking. We keep bringing the burden back to God. Not because repeating the prayer forces Him to act. But because prayer keeps our hearts turned toward the One who can. Yesterday the psalmist spoke to his own soul: “Hope in God.” Today Habakkuk turns that hope back toward heaven and says: “I'm still here, Lord. I'm still asking.” A new beginning sometimes begins with a prayer we have prayed many times before: when God's answer has not yet come, I can keep bringing my heart to Him. Reflection: Is there a prayer I have nearly stopped praying because I have mistaken God's silence for His lack of concern? Prayer: Heavenly Father, You know the prayers I have carried for a long time and the answers I am still waiting to see. Sometimes Your silence is difficult for me to understand. Help me not to interpret waiting as abandonment. Give me the courage to speak honestly with You, as Habakkuk did, and the faith to keep coming back when nothing seems to change. I do not know what You may already be doing beyond what I can see, but I trust that my prayers are not hidden from You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Because God made us, we didn’t make Him. A god you can make is a god you can control and make do whatever you wish. The ancient Greeks had a host of gods, all created by men. Some demanded human sacrifice; others permitted prostitution and even promoted it in their temples. When we reverse the order and start to create God in our own image (according to our own imagination) we get the following things: 1) A god who’s liberal or conservative, a hawk or a dove; a god politicians conveniently pull out of a box at election time to gain votes even though they don’t truly serve him. 2) A flexible god who permits you to do whatever you want, and you can then say, ‘I just felt led to do it.’ 3) A god who promises to bless his children but never discipline them. 4) A god you can ‘keep in his place’ until you need him. 5) A god who is not supreme but happy to be one of many deities offering many ways to heaven. Not so! God says, ‘I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no saviour.’ Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’ (John 14:6 NKJV). But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul"_ (Hebrews 10:38,39). *INTRODUCTION* 40 years have passed now when they left Egypt with great joy and hope coupled with triumph over the oppressive and terrorizing Egyptians. Little did they know the challenges that will greet them on the way. A few days journey from Kadesh to Jordan turned to 40 years. All the adults, except Caleb and Joshua, who left Egypt died without reaching the promised Canaan. Unfortunately, Moses, their faithful leader, including their high priest Aaron, and Miriam the Women Leader were painfully casualties. They just finished mourning Moses for 30 days. That was not their plan and expectations when they left Egypt. However, they must move on and enter the land of promise after all those setbacks. This takes courage and faith in God. The Christian life is similar especially, when the heart is not sanctified. Starting with the indescribable Joy of Salvation, the journey to heaven began. But unexpectedly, along the way, there are battles to fight, divine disciplines to endure and challenges meant to perfect that will be experienced. Those experiences and setbacks should not becloud our forward march to heaven; we must keep moving on until we enter the promised heaven. The Apostles were said to be *"Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom"* (Acts 14:22). *1. The Command to be Observed with Unwavering Faith* a. Joshua commanded the captains to *"Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals"*. Some people who willingly obey the commandments in their work places, public transports, whether land, air or sea, deride commandments when it comes from God through church leaders or shepherds. Some refused or stopped going to church because of their hate for commandments. They often talk of human rights, human free will etc when commandments are given by God through His ministers. The truth is that no man, no matter how wise or intelligent, can live happily or successfully in the world without learning to listen to instructions or commandments and follow them in every sphere of life. The Word of God is filled with instructions and commandment because none can claim to know the correct and fulfilling routes in life when he has never passed through it. Human security, safety, fulfillment and joy are tied to the ability to hear, listen and obey godly instructions and commandments. The 'dos' and 'don'ts' of the Word of God, which carnal minds reject, are actually, the path way to a happy and fulfilling life. b. Moses, their Prophet par excellence who used to see and hear from God directly was gone. Yet they did not idolize Moses that since Moses was gone all hope was lost. Their confidence was in God without any cult personality. True believers should not see any of their leaders as a cult personality to idolize. Cult personality in the household of faith is carnality and idol worship in action. Any God-given leader at any time should be obeyed and followed because it is the commandment of God and His Word that matters most and not the human vessel. Israel lost nothing as a result of the death of Moses. The same God who moved mightily in Moses also moved greatly in Joshua that Israel never regretted the death of Moses. The Command of Joshua was military in nature, but obeying it will require courage and faith. *"Within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it"*. Looking back, many souls have died without receiving the promise. Looking forward to Jordan that it would take a great miracle like it happened in the Red Sea before they could pass. However, Joshua gave the commandment as if the Jordan challenge was not there. Israel also did not raise alarm about the humanly impassable Jordan. They all jointly and unitedly believed God that crossing was a done deal since it was God who commanded and God had done it before. We must move on by faith to the hope set before us with courage. Since God has promised to take us to heaven, no need to fear the assault of persistent temptations, the murmurs of persecutions and afflictions, the threat of marital and career setbacks and the cruel dread of principalities and power. Just move on in obedience and faith according to His Word and be sure you will land on the other side of the river. *Question* Have you decided to continue the journey to the end no matter the challenges on the way? *2.Care to be Offered to the Unsettled Families* a. The Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh were given their land and possession before they crossed the Jordan River. Now that the soldiers of those tribes were settled, it was tempting for them to quit the journey and go to their rest. Moses settled that need for genuine brotherly love before he died. Joshua recalled that because he knew that the commandment of God does not die with the vessel that God used to declare it. He said, *"Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land"*. The vulnerable were to stay behind in the promised land while their soldiers joined the remaining Israelites to fight the Canaanites. There was no rest for them until their brethren had rest. Obeying that would require faith and a golden caring heart. First, who would protect those vulnerable two and half tribes when all their soldiers leave them behind? David did that for his wives and vulnerable followers in Ziklag and the Amalekites overran the wives and carried away everything belonging to them. Was that commandment of Moses reasonable? It was reasonable since it was given by God. It was reasonable because faith in God would not be disappointed. It was reasonable because the law of love is stronger than the law of self protection. This is the lesson for us as to how God works. b. *"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill ye the law of Christ"* (Galatians 6:2). Any law, policy or principle that does not visibly reflect the care and love for one another in the family, church and among neighbours is not of God no matter how the world exalts it. Practical and sacrificial care for one another is the hall mark of Christianity. When that is missing, the Christian faith is not different from other religions. Believers should lighten burdens of others, wiping off bitter tears, relieving the oppressed, putting the balm of Gilead in the troubled souls in addition to assisting and supporting others through prayer. Selfishness, self interest, self protection, self respect, etc.are being imported into the church as wisdom, but they are not Christlike. *"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others"* (Philippians 2:4). This is a commandment. *Question* Are you practically bearing others burdens or are you hypocritically selfish? *3. Consecration to Obedience and Unity by the Faithful* a. Christian consecration is the solemn act of setting apart a person, place or thing from ordinary, secular use and dedicating it entirely to God and holy purposes. This includes consecration to do and obey the Word of God. It is difficult in these last days of superficial christianity and devotion to deliberately, doggedly and determinedly stick to the Word of God without definite consecrations. When it comes to unity among brethren, many things often threaten unity and it takes consecration with godly unity in order to ensure the unity of the saints. This is needful because the victory, the blessings and divine visitations on a people are tightly connected to unity. Unity must be encouraged and enforced in order to enjoy God's bests. *"Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the body of peace"*. We must preach it, pray for it, practice it and pass it on to the future generations. Would the Holy Spirit have descended on the Early Church if they were not united in the Upper Room? If the Trinity is not united, what would the world look like? *"And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go"*. It takes deliberate consecration to God to obey all the commandments of God without complaining. It takes consecration to follow a man of like passion wholeheartedly. Consecrations are milestones to spiritual maturity and profitability in the hands of God. As he watched for the first time as cars sped over the bridge, and as he looked at the blueprints which he held in his hands, tears began to fill his eyes, and he cried out, "It's just like the plan; it's just like the plan." Undoubtedly, the sense of accomplishment brought tears of joy to the eyes of the intelligent and fulfilled engineer. His good works serve humanity! What a lesson! We must live to add value to others.* *Today's passage centres on the preparation of Israel to go in and possess the Promised Land under the able leadership of Joshua, the son of Nun, the commander of the army of Israel after the death of Moses. This time, they were on the verge of entering Canaan. Strategically, he told the army to prepare, and he reminded the three tribes: Reuben, Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh of their promise to Moses that they would cross the River Jordan and fight alongside the nine and the half tribes until they possessed their inheritance before returning to settle on the east side of Jordan. The tribal leaders affirmed their commitment and promised to follow Joshua as they followed Moses, irrespective of the challenges ahead.* *The salient lesson here include the unity among the tribes, cooperation with the leader, and Joshua's uncompromising, indefatigable leadership style that gave Israel the edge. As a result, the nation won battles, conquered adversaries, and possessed the Promised Land.* *Families, churches, societies and nations that desire victory in life's battles and challenges must follow the same pattern. Beyond earthly victories and possessions, there is an enduring possession in heaven for the saints of God. Admit it. You like reading the Psalms, the Gospels, Paul's epistles and maybe Esther and Ruth. But what about the least read Bible books -- I call them Orphan Books -- because they almost are never read. Here's a list I found. Hope you take the challenge to read an "orphan" or two this week. ------------------------------------ # Book Why read it? Difficulty 1 Obadiah A miniature study of pride, injustice, and God's judgment 🟢 Easy 2 Haggai A surprisingly relevant book about misplaced priorities 🟢 Easy 3 Philemon Paul, slavery, forgiveness, and Christian brotherhood in 25 verses 🟢 Easy 4 3 John A fascinating glimpse into early church politics and leadership 🟢 Easy 5 2 John Truth, love, hospitality—and boundaries 🟢 Easy 6 Nahum The dark counterpart to Jonah: what happens to Nineveh? 🟡 Medium 7 Zephaniah Judgment followed by one of the OT's beautiful pictures of God's joy 🟡 Medium 8 Jude Strange, intense, apocalyptic, and packed with unusual references 🟡 Medium 9 Habakkuk One of the Bible's best books for wrestling honestly with God 🟢 Easy 10 Lamentations Biblical poetry about grief, catastrophe, and hope 🟡 Medium 11 Joel Locusts, the Day of the LORD, and the famous promise about God's Spirit 🟡 Medium 12 Malachi A surprisingly sharp ending to the Old Testament 🟢 Easy 🏆 The ones I'd especially recommend If you only want to read five, I'd pick: Habakkuk — perhaps the most rewarding “orphan.” The entire book is essentially a conversation between a confused believer and God. Habakkuk starts by asking, “Why aren't you doing something about this?” and ends somewhere radically different. Haggai — extremely short but surprisingly practical. Its central question is basically: What happens when God's people become preoccupied with their own houses while neglecting God's house? Philemon — don't let its size fool you. It's an extraordinarily compressed little letter about power, status, forgiveness, reconciliation, and what the gospel does to human relationships. Nahum — read it immediately after Jonah if you can. Jonah tells you that Nineveh repented; Nahum, written later, tells you what eventually happened to Nineveh. Reading them together makes both books considerably more interesting. Lamentations — probably the most emotionally neglected book on the list. It gives you something the Bible is unusually good at: language for grief when everything has gone terribly wrong. 🕯️ And here's the really fun challenge Don't read these as if they're merely the Bible's “B-list.” Try reading one orphan book a week, with no commentary at first. Just read the entire thing in one sitting. You'll discover something interesting: some of the books that feel least important at first are actually the ones that illuminate the famous books around them.
