Suppose that prominent ministers were publicly to teach that the statutes which govern their land and protect the rights of its citizens were not obligatory—that they restricted the liberties of the people, and therefore ought not to be obeyed; how long would such men be tolerated in the pulpit? But is it a graver offense to disregard the laws of states and nations than to trample upon those divine precepts which are the foundation of all government? This is one of the most powerful question ever asked in the scripture. It is deliberate. This is because your answer to this question, changes everything in and around you. It is the foundation for every genuine change. It is what makes the whole difference in a man's life. What do you see? God is not responsible for everything happening to you. The devil is not either. You are at the centre of everything happenings in your life. You are a decider, a contributor, a partner to the decision making process of the changes, events and activities of your life. "I leave everything in God's hands", is an ignorant man's submission. God has so much in his hands already. So leaving yours in his hands, creates a difficult situation for you. The day you understand this truth and leave by it, your life will begin to take a new shape. What do you see? CHANGE, PROGRESS, SOLUTION, VICTORY; BEGINS WITH WHAT YOU SEE. This is the first step to a breakthrough or a breakdown. The reason is: LIFE, GOD, is only committed to what you see. What you say, is a conclusion, but what you see is a decision. In the end, they become the victims of their ego and exaggerated sense of power and importance.* *This is what happened to the kings of the nations on the east of River Jordan. The children of Israel were on a journey ordered by the Almighty God. They were heading to the land of Canaan, in fulfilment of the promise God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Their land was not part of Canaan, and therefore, was not intended to be inherited by the Israelites. The inheritance of the Israelites was to be solely Canaan, the land flowing with milk and honey. But on their way, the Israelites encountered nations that had heard about the supernatural work of God in bringing them out of Egypt. Although the Israelites did not declare war against them, these nations, some out of unfounded fear of losing their territory, and others out of envy and hatred against this nation that had a God that can subdue, humble and defeat Egypt, the great world power of the time, took it on themselves to stop Israel from progressing towards their land of promise. One of such kings was Sihon, king of the Amorites, whose nation was mainly a lush vegetation sandwiched by rivers and plain land that was a haven for pastoralists and for other forms of agriculture. The other king was Og, king of Bashan, a land of the remnants of the giants, with similar topography as the land of the Amorites. When they rose against the Israelites, they were roundly defeated, their kingdoms destroyed and their land confiscated by Moses. He subsequently allocated the land to two and half tribes of Israel, which desired to settle there because it was suitable for their vocation as pastoralists. Had those nations stayed out of the way of the Israelites, they would have remained in their land.* *We must be wise and not take on battles that are not ours, whether out of sympathy with other people or to prove that we are powerful. As believers, we have more than enough battles against principalities and powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places, against sin and Satan. The armour Christ has given us is intended to defeat these adversaries. It is not to be wasted on self-imposed battles that do not benefit the kingdom of God. Those who engage in the wrong battles suffer great loss, and live to regret it for the rest of their lives. Some are penned down in the Bible while there are many more that have been experienced by individuals, families, communities and nations since creation of man. The fact that God is immutable guarantees that those miracles can be repeated and increased in greatness and number. One of the greatest ways to strengthen faith is to deliberately rehearse God's faithfulness and meditate on those past wonders of God. Throughout Scripture, God often instructed His people to remember His mighty acts so that they would trust Him for future victories. Israel's conquest of the Amorites under Sihon and the later record of those victories in Joshua remind us that God's past interventions are powerful testimonies of His unfailing covenant. Every believer should cultivate the habit of recalling God's goodness instead of dwelling on past fears or failures. As we recount His faithfulness, our confidence in His promises grows. *1.Arrogant Courting of Battles* Israel peacefully requested passage through the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, but Sihon arrogantly rejected the request and chose war instead (Numbers 21:21–25). It is the norm in military warfare that you don't fight those who come and prefer peace to war. The worst is to lead them as captives. Sihon had taken pride in defeating Moab and taking her possessions (Numbers 21:26-2). Their victory over Moab was celebrated as it became a song in the land. He was optimistic and emboldened that he could repeat the same feat against Israel. However, he was thoughtless and proud. His pride blinded him to the fact that he was fighting against God's covenant people. It is dangerous and risky to fight against the covenant people of God. The battle ended in complete defeat of Sihon because no human strength can prevail against God's purpose. b. Believers have the domineering power of Jesus Christ to crush every power of the adversaries. However, this is not a license for believers to arrogantly court and tempt the people of darkness to unnecessary warfare. When Herod wanted Jesus to perform some miracles for a show of power, Jesus declined because it was unnecessary (Luke 23:8). When Satan tempted Jesus to jump down from the mountain, Jesus also declined because it was an unnecessary show of power. Believers should avoid unnecessary boasting and fight in the name of the Lord that is borne out of arrogance or pride. Believers should never fear opposition, for God remains the Defender of those who trust Him. At the same time, we must guard against pride, remembering that arrogance always invites destruction. *Question* Am I trusting God's strength in life's battles, or am I relying on human confidence and pride? *2. Appreciative Counting of Blessings* Joshua carefully recorded the kings and their land, whom God had delivered into Israel's hands (Joshua 12:1–5). These verses are more than historical records—they are memorials of divine faithfulness. God's people are encouraged to remember every victory and every answered prayer. Gratitude protects the heart from discouragement and unbelief. When we regularly count our blessings, we discover that God's mercies greatly outweigh our trials. Thanksgiving also prepares us to receive greater blessings from the Lord. As the psalmist puts it, *"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."* This will take a diligent and deliberate effort like Joshua did when he wrote down and recalled the good wonders of God to himself and to the whole Israel. *Question* How often do I deliberately remember and thank God for His past faithfulness in my life? *3. Additions to Covenant for the Beloved* a. The conquered territories were not part of the promised Canaan inheritance. But Sihon and Og lost their land through their pride and arrogance and those blessings were taken from them and added to the children of Israel (Joshua 12:6). After getting victory, Moses assigned the conquered territory to the tribes of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh as their inheritance. God's faithfulness extends beyond victory in battle to the fulfillment of His covenant promises. b. There are several cases where God took away the assigned blessing of the arrogant and added them to the portion of the godly. Reuben and Esau were supposed to have the double blessings of their first born, but they both lost them through carelessness and profanity. Their blessings were added to Judah and Jacob respectively. Jesus warned the Ephesian Church of loss of ministry if they didn't repent from the loss of their first love and the immoral practices of the Nicolaitans(Revelation 2:5). He also warned the Pastor of Philadelphia that if he was not watchful, his crown would be taken from him and be given or added to another person. *"Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown"* (Revelation 3:11). Remember, King Saul lost his crown, which was supposed to be generational, to David. The same with Esau and none of them could get his back. Fight and be watchful to retain and enjoy all your blessings and inheritance assigned to you by God. *Question* Am I very watchful and prayerful in ensuring that my blessings and inheritance are not taken from me and transferred to another person? *Prayer Points* 1.Heavenly Father, help me always remember and celebrate Your faithfulness in every season of my life 🙏. 2.Lord, deliver me from every form of pride, boasting and unnecessary show of power and grant me victory over every battle confronting my faith 🙏. 3.Give me a grateful heart that continually counts Your blessings instead of focusing on life's difficulties. 4.Give Your children grace to be watchful and prayerful and don't allow anyone to take their assigned blessings and inheritance 🙏. *HYMN:* Count Your Blessings *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 26-29. 2. 🌍 Soil Regeneration, Carbon, and Why Healthy Soil Matters Healthy soil is the foundation of every thriving ecosystem. Without healthy soil, forests decline, crops become weaker, water is lost more quickly, and biodiversity decreases. At Two Roots Garden Cambodia, we believe that restoring soil is one of the most important actions we can take for the future of people and nature. What Is Soil Regeneration? Soil regeneration is the process of rebuilding living, fertile soil through natural biological processes rather than depending primarily on synthetic fertilizers. Instead of simply feeding plants, we focus on feeding the entire soil ecosystem, including bacteria, fungi, earthworms, insects, and countless other organisms. These living communities recycle nutrients, improve soil structure, and help plants grow naturally. Healthy soil is alive. A single teaspoon of healthy soil can contain billions of microorganisms working together to support plant life. Soil and Carbon Plants remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. They use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugars that fuel their growth. A significant portion of these sugars is transferred through the roots into the soil, where microorganisms convert some of this carbon into stable soil organic matter. This process stores carbon in the ground and helps build healthier soils. When land is degraded through erosion, repeated burning, excessive tillage, or the loss of vegetation, much of this stored carbon can be released back into the atmosphere. Regenerative farming practices help increase soil organic matter, which supports soil health and can contribute to greater long-term carbon storage. Why Organic Matter Matters Organic matter acts like nature's sponge. It helps the soil: - Store more water. - Improve drainage during heavy rain. - Reduce erosion. - Feed soil organisms. - Supply nutrients to plants. - Build stable soil structure. - Increase resilience during drought. As organic matter increases, soils generally become healthier and more productive. The Carbon Cycle in Our Garden Every leaf, branch, root, and piece of mulch plays a role in the carbon cycle. Instead of burning plant material or throwing it away, we return it to the soil. Through composting, mulching, pruning, and careful biomass management, plant material is recycled into new life. This creates a continuous cycle of growth, decomposition, and renewal. In nature, nothing is wasted. Biochar and Long-Term Carbon Storage At Two Roots Garden, we also use biochar where appropriate. Biochar is charcoal produced from plant material under low-oxygen conditions. When added correctly to biologically active soil, biochar can improve water retention, provide habitat for beneficial microorganisms, and contribute to long-term carbon storage. It works best when combined with compost or other organic materials rather than used on its own. Why This Matters for Cambodia Healthy soils can help farms and gardens become more resilient. Regenerating soil can: - Improve food production. - Reduce erosion during heavy rains. - Increase water-holding capacity during dry periods. - Support biodiversity. - Reduce dependence on expensive external inputs. - Strengthen local food security. - Improve the long-term productivity of family gardens. What Volunteers Can Do Every volunteer contributes to soil regeneration by: - Applying mulch. - Making compost. - Planting diverse species. - Protecting bare soil. - Returning biomass to the land. - Avoiding unnecessary disturbance. - Observing and caring for the living soil. Every handful of compost, every tree planted, and every layer of mulch contributes to a healthier ecosystem. Healthy soil is more than dirt beneath our feet—it is a living community that supports forests, farms, wildlife, and people. By restoring soil, we help create resilient landscapes that can nourish future generations while supporting biodiversity and storing more carbon over time.

WHY WE DON'T PUT AN ALTAR ON AN ALTAR: A Prophetic Revelation on Spiritual Identity. In many cultures across the world, a common weapon of spiritual and psychological warfare involves targeting a person's identity. Malicious individuals, envious colleagues, or hidden enemies often take a person’s photograph, name, or reputation, and subject it to dark altars, malicious gatherings, or toxic rituals. The goal is simple: to suppress, manipulate, or completely destroy the victim's destiny. When people find out their identity is being targeted, fear usually sets in. But today, I want to introduce a universal spiritual law and a proverb that God gave me to break this fear once and for all: "We don't put an altar on an altar". "THE ANATOMY OF AN ALTAR To understand this proverb, we must understand what an altar is. An altar is not just a physical table or a heap of stones; it is a legal landing pad where the spiritual realm interfaces with the physical realm. It is a place of covenants, commitments, and spiritual authority. When a malicious force tries to target your identity, they believe they are subjecting your life to the authority of their domain. YOU ARE THE ALTAR Here is the heavy spiritual mystery they fail to realize: As a believer, you are not an empty vessel. The Apostle Paul reminds us in (1 Corinthians 6:19) that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. If your body is a temple, it means there is an active, burning altar of the Living God residing inside your spirit. You are a moving, living altar. Your identity carries the spiritual frequency, presence, and fire of the God you serve. THE CLASH OF FOUNDATIONS Therefore, when an enemy targets you, they are literally trying to place an altar on top of an altar. In the realm of the spirit, this creates a violent clash of legalities. A lower, human-made, or demonic foundation cannot sit on top of or overwrite a supreme, divine foundation. You cannot place a counterfeit authority over the original authority of God. Instead of their dark setups swallowing up your destiny, your presence as a divine altar enters their space as a disruptive force. THE EXAMPLE OF DAGON We see this law perfectly demonstrated in (1 Samuel 5). When the Philistines captured the Ark of God, they foolishly brought it into the temple of their god, Dagon, and set it right next to him. They tried to place the supreme altar of Jehovah within the domain of a lesser deity. What happened? The next morning, Dagon was found fallen face down on the ground before the Ark. They stood him up again, and by the next day, Dagon had fallen again—this time with his head and hands broken off. A PROPHETIC DECLARATION If you are reading this today, let this proverb give you absolute confidence. You are protected by a permanent spiritual covenant. If they have targeted your life in any hidden room to manipulate your marriage, finances, or health, do not panic. Because you are an altar, their opposition has just invited a consuming fire into its own space. The attack will backfire, the altars of darkness will shatter, and your victory is guaranteed. 📘 Daily Devotion — August 31 | Acts 23:6 (NKJV) 💯 Standing Firm in the Hope of the Resurrection Acts 23 records Paul's appearance before the Jewish council after his arrest in Jerusalem. Realizing that the council was divided between the Pharisees, who believed in the resurrection, and the Sadducees, who did not, Paul declared that the real reason he was on trial was because of his faith in the resurrection of the dead. His words shifted the focus from false accusations to the central truth of the gospel. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. Paul understood that everything he preached and every hardship he endured pointed back to the living Savior. Because Jesus conquered death, believers have the assurance of forgiveness, eternal life, and the promise of their own future resurrection. For believers today, this verse reminds us to remain steadfast in the hope we have in Christ. Our confidence is not built on changing circumstances but on the unchanging truth that Jesus is alive. Thank You for waking us up, giving us another day, and allowing us to begin a new week in Your presence. Lord, after receiving such a powerful Word, “GRACE TO EXPAND,” don't let us simply be hearers of the Word—give us the faith and courage to walk it out! Father, You said, “Enlarge the place of thy tent.” So enlarge our faith. Enlarge our vision. Enlarge our capacity. Enlarge our compassion. Enlarge our influence.
